One of the best, and equally, worst parts of working at Pier One was getting to decorate the store for holidays. I say best because our holiday decor was always amazing and worst because, like in most retail, the holidays were forced upon us so early that by the time the holiday actually came around we were sick of it. You might not know what I mean until you’ve stayed up until 2 am putting out sparkly skulls… in August. Or until you have sunburn from unloading the gigantic Christmas truck from 5:45am to 3:30pm… in October. As I was unloading, I was usually making a mental wishlist of everything I loved, but I so do enjoy being able to pack said items away and bring them back out when seasonally appropriate.
