My mom is seriously the hostess with the mostest. You saw it first with the tea party for Little Jules, and this past weekend she hosted another bridal shower for her co-worker, Rachael. She’s one of my mom’s “quad babies” or part of the “quad squad” of first grade teachers out in portables at their school. Rachael got engaged a week after I did, and even though I had never met any of the squad, they came over to my mom’s to celebrate both engagements and even brought us both a little goodie bags. Rachael, along with Sarah and Erica, have been amazing friends to my mom and have become friends of mine as well since we’re all about the same age. Erica actually gives my mom updates from my Instagram which I think is great, and Erica and Sarah were a huge help in readying Casa Downing for the pearl and purple themed tea party.

This was kind of the “work” shower, so it was more of an intimate gathering. There was a build your own mimosa bar, a ton of food, and a great tea service that probably would have been more popular if the weather wasn’t so warm (but it made for a great centerpiece for the party.) One of my favorite details was that my mom put her own pearls on the chandeliers in our dining room and kitchen. Sarah made adorable favors with purple and sparkly hand sanitizers from Bath and Body works so it looked like they were wearing little veils. The game of the day was that everyone wore a pearl necklace that started out with a mini clip. If you said the word “wedding” and got caught, you lost your clip to whoever caught you. The winner with the most pins won a candle! It was a really sweet afternoon and I was so happy to be included!

My outfit for the day was a super fun set that I grabbed from the last Lilly Pulitzer after-party sale. It was one of those things I knew I had to have but had no idea where I would wear it. Luckily, a shower on a warm day was perfect! The two-piece set is kind of a new-to-me style, but I loved the way that the subtle crop really just looked like a flirty sundress. It was lose enough I could eat all the fun party snacks I wanted and not feel like my outfit was trapping me.
