As soon as summer approaches and the weather warms up, we all start to looking forwards to a well-deserved vacation. There’s just something about longer days and lighter nights that makes us all long for a week or two away from it all. So, before long, you find yourself trying to figure out where to go. But, in this beautiful country, there are just so many possible vacation locations to consider.

For those of you not based in the states, you’ve got a wealth of experience just waiting to be had. With different climates and cultures, we really do have it all. If you’re a US citizen, you might be considered heading abroad, over to Europe or even further East to get a different dose of culture and atmosphere. And while international travel can be exciting, there’s just so much to see stateside, that you might want to think about staying around here for a little while longer.

Start With A City

There are so many incredible places to see across these united states, but if you’ve not yet seen some of the more notable places, that’s where you might want to start. Like New York City. You don’t even have to be a city fan to fall in love with it. Not only have you got lots of sightseeing to do, but the food and culture will make your stay. But before you book, if you’re not a US citizen, make sure you sort out your ESTA Visa Waiver Program first.

Go Off The Grid

If you’re looking for the kind of vacation experience that is completely different to a city, then you might want to think about getting away from classic civilization for a bit. Whether you like the idea of being at one with nature, staying where it’s quiet, or enjoying a slower pace of life for a while, heading to somewhere like the Three Rivers Recreation Area in Oregon, Chitina in Alaska or New Camaldoli Hermitage in California, could be exactly what you need to enjoy a raw slice of American life.

Enjoy Southern Living

Maybe you like the idea of a quieter vacation spot, but you still want to be in and among it all. Whether you live in the US or you’re just visiting, enjoying a little southern living could be all you need. If you want to wander around food markets and vintage stores, enjoy good home cooking and see some pretty breathtaking natural sites, our southern states have a lot to offer, especially somewhere quaint and charming like Charleston, S.C.

Drive The Pacific Coast Highway

When you want a sense of adventure, what could be better than taking a road trip across the iconic Pacific Coast Highway? With the wind in your hair and the open road in front of you, travel never seemed so exciting. Not only can you choose your stops along the way, but you can also customize your trip to see incredible sights or enjoy tasty food, or even head to a cultural event or two along the way. Out in California, the road really is your oyster.

From Boston, MA to Providence, R.I, New England can make an incredible tour-like vacation that fills you with thought.

Aspen

Take In D.C.

When you want an authentic slice of culture, why not head to Washington D.C.? Our country’s capital offers a lot of visitors. Not only have you got the same breathtaking scenery and culture as other tourist hotspots across the country, but you also get the political heritage that comes with it. If you have kids or teens, or an avid interest in history or politics, this could make the ideal vacation spot for you this summer.

Experience Lake Life

For a relaxing vacation that isn’t quite what you’re used to, why not head to a lake? Lake life can provide you with the perfect backdrop and atmosphere for some much-needed time out. Not only are the views incredible, but you can often enjoy a small slice of this humbling lifestyle. From time spent out on the lake itself, to meandering around the local sites and enjoying a home-cooked meal in your cottage or cabin, it can be just what your mind and body needs.

Beach Bum It

With all the culture our 50 states offer, of course, we have killer beach life too. If you live out in the country, or even a city, heading south for the summer could be the only thing on your mind. Or, if you’re international, but you still want to enjoy a traditional summer spot, head to somewhere like Miami. With so many beaches, cultures and atmospheres available, you’ll definitely find a great resort for your family holiday or girls week away.

See Both Sides To Vegas

And, of course, there’s always Vegas. If you’ve never been to Vegas before, the draw could be getting strong. So bite the bullet and finally head to the city that never sleeps and see if you can strike it rich. But if the showy side of Vegas hasn’t hooked you, there’s also the quieter, more cultural side of Vegas to explore too.
