Everybody wants to look and feel beautiful. The key is to love yourself, most importantly. You might feel like that’s a cop-out answer, but it’s actually the only answer that makes sense. Looking beautiful is all about feeling comfortable in your own skin. There’s no perfect size, shape, hair color, or any other aesthetic feature; beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And if you don’t feel confident or comfortable about the way you look then you need to think of changes you could make to your own perception of yourself. All that matters is whether or not you can embrace your flaws.

Be confident in public.

Looking and feeling good is all about confidence. The first step is to find a look that makes you stroll out of the door with pride. And it doesn’t have to cost you a fortune to look good either. Not everybody wants to go “au naturale” when they step out of the house, but that’s fine – cosmetic products don’t have to bankrupt you if you know where to buy them. You could get some perfume to help you feel a little more confident at public gatherings and events; smell is as powerful as aesthetic when it comes to feeling attractive. And if you’re asking yourself “how long does perfume last?” then the answer is: a long time. Not only does it have a good shelf life but you only need a small amount any time you use it. One bottle could last you a good few years, so that’s a good example of a cost-effective way to spruce yourself up. At the end of the day, feeling confident in public is down to you. You have to feel comfortable in the way you present yourself, whether that’s in regard to your look or your smell.

Improve your health.

The best way to look and feel more confident about your appearance is to improve your health. We’re not just talking about “getting skinny” here because skinniness isn’t always the epitome of good health – being underweight is just as unhealthy as being overweight, so you need to focus on a more holistic concept of healthiness. It’s not just about improving your physical health but your mental health; the better your mental state, the more confident you’ll feel about the way you look. It’s a self-serving positive cycle. You should fix your diet because the things you consume have the biggest effect on your body and mind. Having a more varied diet with all the carbohydrates, protein, calcium, and iron you need is a good way to balance out your chemicals. You’ll feel better physically and mentally. The path to looking and feeling beautiful is made easier by a healthy lifestyle.

Work on your social circle.

You might not truly realize it, but your friends and family have a big influence on the way you feel about yourself. If you’re not confident about any aspect of yourself, whether it be your appearance or something deeper, then you should have a circle of people to whom you can turn in order to help you out. Likewise, you should get rid of toxic people in your life. Boosting self-confidence is something that you have to do, but the path can be made easier by friends and family who are truly supportive of you, as you are supportive of them.

You’ve exhausted the chocolate supply in the cupboard and there aren’t many more series left on Netflix for you to binge on. You haven’t left the house in a week (and counting), also when was the last time you washed your hair? You’re getting through the initial trauma of a break-up and the time is coming for you to pick yourself up and move on. We have all been through a break-up before and if you have yet to experience one, take note for the future. The thought of watching happy couples saddens you when you’ve been dumped, but I’m here to help you feel strong, empowered and determined enough to get over your ex.

Breakup Care Package

Home Cleanse

One of the most difficult parts of a break-up is letting go of the memories that are scattered around your home. From photo frames shaped in a heart to ticket stubs from a concert you’ve been to together. It’s healthy to have a home detox and get rid of the reminders than make you sad every day when you look at them. Use this is an excuse to give your room a makeover too. You can buy new pictures for your walls and invest in some new luxurious bedding to completely overhaul your bedroom and erase the lingering memory of them.

This might be new-age of me, but I also suggest lighting a candle, collecting meaningful crystals, or even smudging with sage to get rid of negative energy. Who’s to say if it actually works but I know lighting a candle always helps my mood.

Body Beautiful

You’ve spend enough time eating your feelings post-break up, so let’s change your mindset and channel your anger into something positive. Head to your nearest dance class and shimmy your way to happiness, instead of punishing your body in a negative way. Maybe you have a personal tattoo on your body, which relates to your ex. If so, you need to get rid of it ASAP! Head to your local tattoo removal clinic get the everlasting mark on your body lasered away. You will soon feel brand new after a few sessions, so don’t delay in transforming your body back to its pure and powerful form.

Goodbye Gifts

Stop hanging onto the perfume he bought you for your birthday or the necklace you received for Christmas. You simply don’t need them, so throw them away and feel a sense of relief. There is no point in holding these possessions close to you, when the sentiment is no longer there. You will feel free again if you let go of the gifts from your ex.

Selective Socials

It is so important to get out of the house after you’ve had a break-up, but be selective about the social events you choose to attend. If you know your ex or their friends are going to be there don’t go! Choose a girly night with your besties instead of getting dressed up and trying to impress your ex.

Whatever you situation, you can get through it. Find your inner strength and display a proud smile. Now is your time to focus on yourself and do the things that make you happy. Take the chance to love yourself and don’t let anybody dictate how you feel.

It might surprise you to learn that there are four distinct types of skin. Each one will need a different kind of makeup, cleaning and care products and other items that are specific to a certain skin type. Here are the four types of skin you have on your face.

Best moisturizers for normal skin

Normal Skin

The term normal skin is used to describe regular, well-balanced skin. This means that it isn’t too far one way or another. It sits nicely in the middle of all of the skin types and is often seen as the optimum type of skin as it is the most balanced. This means that normal skin has a good balance of moisture which in turn means that it isn’t too dry or too oily. You can tell if you have normal skin because you will have all of or some of the following: a lack of blemishes, soft and smooth skin, decent blood circulation and fine, difficult to see pores.

Best face toner for oily skin

Oily Skin

Oily skin is where the body is producing too much sebum. This is the chemical that your body produces to make your skin waterproof and people who have oily skin produce too much of it. The reason for this overproduction can be due to genetics, a change or imbalance in your hormones, stress, the makeup you are using or a medication that your taking. You can spot oily skin in several ways, but the most common one is that you have large and easy to see pores. Other ways of identifying oily skin include: the skin being shiny and regular outbreaks of spots or acne.

Best dry skin face moisturizers

Dry Skin

Dry skin doesn’t produce enough of the waterproofing chemical known as sebum. As you get older, skin naturally becomes drier, but it can occur for other reasons. This could be due to a lack of hydration or a diet that lacks ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol as all three are used to keep the skin healthy. Generally, you can fix both of these by changing your diet or drinking more water. You can tell if you have dry skin by it feeling rough, itchy or tight and if it starts to flake and fall away easily. Dry skin can be irritated easily, so you should use a skin care product for sensitive skin to avoid any irritation and to help improve your skin. If you are young and you notice that your skin is regularly dry despite a healthy diet and drinking enough water, then you should visit a doctor as your skin may be ageing prematurely.

Exfoliating face scrub

Combination Skin

Combination skin is exactly as it sounds. It combines the above skin types in certain areas of your face. Combination skin can usually be spotted because you will have oily skin along your forehead, chin and nose, but have dry skin on your cheeks. It is caused by the same reasons we have already mentioned, but for specific people, certain areas are more susceptible than others. This will mean that they might need to drink more water or use products that deal with oily skin and apply them to the affected areas.

Makeup has a lot of substance to it, both in terms of use and how many complementary products it has to go along with it. Makeup lovers the world over are up to date on all the new trends and looks the icons love, and thus buying for them for Christmas can get a little pricey and a little confusing! Here’s some ideas that will often blow the competition out of the water because of their simplicity and usefulness.

Cosmetic Bag

Something to Make Foundation Last Longer…

Squeezing out the last drop of foundation isn’t typically possible because of the packaging the formula comes in, and that means we get frustrated every time it comes to throwing a bottle away. But wait! Before you let the person you’re buying for chuck their bottle in the bin, tap your nose and tell them to hang on for it for a bit longer.

You can get makeup spatulas to scrape out the bottom of a bottle, and scoop out the gloop of foundation at the bottom which we know we should be able to use! This way, we can get a couple more days of use at least, and finally the £30 price tag makes sense.

Easier Ways to Keep Brushes Clean!

Everyone hates having to dunk their brushes in the solution, despite how productive it makes us feel, as it takes our much loved tool kit out of commission for a good while and they need to dry off. However, on the other hand, some people rarely remember to do it at all!

If you’re at a loss at what to get someone because everyone else has already bought the experimental palettes they’ve been wanting for a while, and another person has got them a dress to pair their new look with, turn to the technical. Often, the latter option outweighs the former, so getting someone a Make Up Brush Cleaner they can easily apply and acts as physical reminder to clean off the brushes won’t go unappreciated!

Blotting Materials That Keep Makeup Intact

Everyone who uses makeup knows this struggle: you want to get rid of the excess oils that leak out and ruin a look you’ve spent an hour plus perfecting, but blotting them away smudges everything up anyway! Well, here’s the trick for them!

You can get sponges that are made of the same stuff as beauty blenders, which is immediately a good sign. Blending everything in instead of isolating a patch and wiping everything away is what’s needed here after all. Snap up a couple packets of these and wrap them up as a good stocking filler, or pack them in with the rest of the present you’re planning to buy for your favorite person.

Christmas can be just as pleasurable as ever without any torn hairs! Makeup is confusing and so many products exist that do the same things, so think a little out of the box this year. Your effort always goes rewarded with ventures like these!

Your skin can be your biggest beauty feature or your biggest pet peeve. In a world where women are made to think that makeup is an absolute must – and where wearing makeup can be fun and pretty – more often or not, your skin takes a beating. Forgetting to go through a skin care routine once or twice might be okay, but not to do it at all is the worst thing. Not only can it clog up your pores creating those pimples everyone hates, but it can also age you prematurely and create blemishes and discoloration.

Type of Skin

The first thing you need to do is recognize what sort of skin you have;

  • Oily skin is greasy, shiny and can have large pores.
  • Dry skin can be flakey, scaly and rough.
  • Combination skin can have both of the above, usually oily centers around the nose and forehead, and the dry skin stays on the cheeks and chin.
  • Sensitive skin can react to different products and can be a result of asthma or Rhodesia.

You should always buy products that are right for your skin type. If you’re unsure which, then ask a beautician or a trained someone at your drugstore of choice.

Skin Care Routine

A daily skin care routine doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming.

  • AM: wash your face with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel – change your towel daily to avoid dabbing bacteria on your clean face. Washing first will rinse off the sleep and sweat from the night. Then apply a cleanser that is right for your skin type. Once this has been absorbed or washed off, continue with a toner, this helps to reduce any blemishes or discoloration. Next, apply a face moisturizer – these are different from what you would put on your body as it is lighter and conditioned to not clog up your pores.
  • PM: Wipe off your makeup with a makeup cloth or good old water – no soap and try not to scrub at your skin. Then repeat your morning routine, after your moisturizer has absorbed apply any particular skin treatment you might need. This might be some Marine collagen treatment or localized acne treatment.

Never go to bed with makeup on.

Makeup

When choosing your makeup make sure you avoid oil-based products, you want something water based and light for your skin. Again check if there are any that suit your skin type.

Apply an SPF primer before putting on your makeup, this helps to even out any blemishes and protects your pores from the worst of your makeup.

If you need to cover up, then use a green concealer for redness, purple for yellow undertones and peach or yellow for dark circles or bruising.

Avoid layering your makeup throughout the day, and try to not redo your makeup multiple times. The act of scrubbing clean your face and immediately applying chemicals will just irritate your skin.
