Going on vacation is always an exciting time. You get the chance to see a part of the world which you haven’t seen before. And, you don’t have to worry about any of life’s normal little issues; like work and money. Instead, you can spend the time relaxing and having fun. This can all be ruined, though. Without the right preparation, it’s easy to go on holiday without the body you want. And, this can be enough to make you feel uncomfortable for the whole trip. To help you out with this, this post will be going through some of the important things to do to your body before you travel. With this in mind, you should be able to make your trip much more pleasant. And, it doesn’t have to cost you anything at all.

To start, a lot of people go on vacations to hot places. And, in these places, you will often find loads of people with great tans. This can make you feel very out of place if you have a pale complexion. So, it’s worth getting a base tan before you go away. To do this, you have a couple of choices. In most cases, it’s best to do this through sunbathing; as long as you have the right protection. But, using a tanning bed or spray tan will also work well. Of course, this doesn’t just serve for vanity. Along with the benefits of looking good, having a tan will also increase your protection against the sun. There’s not much worse than sunburn when you’re on a nice trip. So, it’s best to make sure that you have this sorted before you go. Be careful, though; fake tans won’t give you this protection.

Getting in shape

Next, it’s time to think about a different aspect of your body’s appearance. A lot of people like to get into shape before they go on vacation. You will probably be spending a lot of your time wearing very few clothes. This means that you will be exposed and on show; driving most to try to look as good as they can. The biggest part of this journey will be your diet. You need to make sure that you’re eating a balanced and healthy diet long before you go on your holiday. Options like Huel are great for those who can’t be bothered with calorie counting; but, won’t be good for those that like variety in their food. But, there’s more to this than just food.

You also have to consider the exercise you do; when you’re planning to get in shape for your vacation. Putting effort into something like this will always pay off. And, in fact, it may only take a month or two for you to get there. During this time, you need to try and do some moderate or heavy exercise each day. Cardio work can be performed as much as you want. But, weight training will have to have breaks. If you’re unsure; you could always go and see your doctor or a personal trainer to figure it out. This will help you to clear up any concerns you might have.

Vaccinations/other medication

Now, as it gets closer to the vacation, you need to consider the vaccinations you might need to travel to your destination. Loads of countries will enforce mandatory vaccinations for their guests. This ensures that diseases don’t leave the country and get taken to a place where they could cause an epidemic. Finding this information out should be too hard. There are websites on the internet dedicated to helping people find out which vaccines they might need to travel to different places. Along with this, you might want to get some other medication for your trip. A lot of people find that they get sick on planes or in very hot places. So, it’s worth considering what you might suffer from while away.

Getting your hands on medication can be done through a few different routes. For vaccinations, you will need to go to a doctor. They will be the only people with access to the right chemicals to give you the vaccine you need. And, along with this, they will be the only ones who can give you proof you’ve had it. But, other medication can be sourced differently. There are loads of websites on the internet which can sell you bulk loads of medication. Buying pills like this should be done with care, though. Only ever buy from a company which you trust. And, only buy drugs which are recognized by your doctor.

Personal hygiene

Your personal hygiene could play a big part of your trip. And, for women, there’s something to be very concerned about; periods. Of course, you can’t exactly book a holiday to suit this time in the month. Instead, you have to find a way to solve the issue yourself. Norethisterone tablets are used to delay a period; making it much easier for you to feel comfortable swimming and enjoying yourself. Other embarrassing, but completely natural, bodily issues can also be solved with medication. For example, people who struggle to control their bladder might want to find a drug to ease this issue for them when they travel.

One of the biggest areas of personal hygiene which people fail to address before their trip is their skin’s health. This part of your body is the one organ that people see all the time. You can’t hide your skin; especially in a hot place. So, instead, you need to work hard to make sure that it’s clear of spots or blemishes before you go. As a pro-tip; bicarbonate soda is great for clearing the skin. But, of course, you probably have a few tricks up your sleeve.

It’s not long ’til summer now, which means that the bikini countdown is finally on. If you’re not prepared to bare all on the beach just yet, don’t panic because there is still time to tackle those little problems that prevent you from donning your bikini. Here’s how:

Ok. Wasn’t sure if I was going to post it but as I sat to type this post, I think it’s needed. For me, for anyone else having a hard time with body confidence right now.

When I left the house to go meet up with Sarah in this outfit, I honestly thought I looked really cute. But then I saw these pictures and had a very long moment, like a week, of who is this whale?

I am not kind to myself. I never have been, consistently at least. I’ll have dayum girl moments, but it feels as though they’re few and far between these days. It’s something that I’m working on and probably something I will always have to try for. My weight has been up and down pretty much forever. When I graduated from college, after 4 years of whipped cream vodka, bagels, and late night Fatshack, I was only what I could call swollen. I’ve shown friends pictures from my college graduation and they’re surprised it’s me. A combination better diet, a lot less drinking of sugary cocktails, a fun-employment the following summer to allow for max gym time, and then working at Pier One (moving furniture for a living) led to a loss of 30/40 pounds. Then I got an office job, twenty of those came right back. Recently, I was weighed at my well-woman exam, and I’ve surpassed my previous heaviest weight.

I’m at a little bit of a loss, you guys. I’ve been making my own vegan lunches for work, I pack my own healthy breakfast, I can’t even remember the last cheese steak I had, and I do yoga/ work out a few times a week. I don’t drink soda, rarely eat pasta, and prefer a salad to a burger. I even get enough sleep- which I now know thanks to my tracker. What am I doing wrong? Is it just my metabolism slowing down? Do I even look as bad as I feel? I really have no idea.

I appreciate any feedback from women (or even man) who have been/ are going through the same thing.

And I guess I should just be kinder to myself, for starters.
