Happy Friday… the 13th! The creeper that I am on the inside is so excited that this October has a Friday the 13th. Tonight, we’re sending off Roxanne with a little goodbye bash at the Hawthorne and best wishes for her move to Chicago! Then tomorrow is my 10 year high school reunion at Town Hall. Can I just say 1. ew when did I get this old? and 2. my old self is thrilled that the reunion is walking distance from my apartment! I kind of can’t wait to see a couple of my best girls from St. Andrew’s and introduce Kendall to a few of the guys I’ve stayed in touch with.

Lately on the The CaroLøve:

I obv had to premier the witchy print above for Friday the 13th, but don’t forget that 20% of sales from my Marie print will go to Girls on the Rise for October’s Bullying Prevention Month!

Have you heard about the Coach name change? What do you think? (I hate it.)

No plans for little lions quite yet, but I would so take parenting advice from Dave Grohl’s mom.

Sorry Kendall, but there are actual psychological reasons I can’t stop won’t stop watching the Real Housewives franchise.

Remember last year when Bubbles & Bloggers took a field trip to my old neck of the woods to get some of that country fall goodness you can’t get in the city? Well, when we were at Rocklands, I picked up some farm fresh pork for Kendall and now we’re spoiled and the stuff from the grocery store just doesn’t cut it. Since this past weekend was so gorgeous, we decided to take a little field trip of our own.

Content warning: if you’re a vegetarian who has a problem with my purchasing farm-fresh meat, you might want to stop reading. Nothing graphic, I promise, but I do love eating meat, and I’m a huge fan of buying local.

I didn’t realize this because last fall we made other stops, but Rocklands Farm is only about 40 minutes outside of DC, with a gorgeous drive to get there. There’s plenty of parking, and the farm isn’t so massive that you feel overwhelmed- everything for visitors is pretty much contained. Because it was such a beautiful day, there were a ton of families enjoying the sunshine, wine, and nibbles from the market- lots of littles running around.

Since we were going to my parents’ for dinner after, I picked up a bottle of their Sandstone to take my dad, and some fresh flowers for my mom. You can check out all of their wines here.

Kendall had never been to Rocklands before so we carefully took our time selecting the cuts of pork to take home. While they don’t deliver, you can order your meats/ poultry online and select a designated drop-off spot to pick up your product. Another option is to sign up for the Rocklands Meat CSA, which is a club for pasture-raised, grass-fed & finished, nutrient-dense and humanely-raised meats. The meat CSA share includes a monthly selection of a diverse variety of cuts, flash-frozen & vacuum sealed, of beef, pork, lamb and chicken, varying month to month.  We considered it, but it’s so nice to get out of the city occasionally and hand-select whatever it is you want that I don’t know if we’ll end up doing that.

I clearly decided to go all country girl for mu outfit. I may be mostly city-fied, but I do love my fresh air and wide open spaces from time to time.

A couple weeks ago, Kendall + I had a serious discussion about adventuring. With his work schedule,  it’s harder to plan weekend romps and day trips, so we decided we need to at least explore this great city that we live in more. My old roommate was having a birthday get together, so we decided to take the morning for us and just walked around the DuPont/ Logan Circle area.We grabbed sushi at one of the few places that is open between 2 and 5, and Kendall asked if he could take some pictures for my blog since he’s noticed that I haven’t been doing many outfit posts. (He’s such a great insta-husband-to-be.)

So, I actually got this top thinking it was a dress. I put it on, and Kendall was visibly confused. I stuck my white jeans on under it, and it definitely looked better. This is one of those outfits I think my mom will hate- it features skulls, ripped jeans, and a cold shoulder. But I think it’s fun! It makes for a great weekend outfit especially if I’m stuffing my tum full of sushi, cupcakes, and drinkies from Orange Anchor, like I did that day.

I’m so into the western skull motif kind of out of nowhere- see my other western-inspired picks below my outfit details!

Did it not seem like it took for.ev.er. for February to get her? Yeesh. But it’s here! It’s time for hearts and flowers and pink hopefully hints of spring because this winter has been nowhere near wintery enough so I’m over it. I also see February as pre-March aka pre-My-Birthday-Month. Last year I was so freaked out about being in a wedding every month that I didn’t even want to celebrate. I did end up celebrating, because I have awesome friends and family, but this year I vow to get back to my birthday queen self.

But I digress- it’s not my turn yet. It’s February’s turn! This month’s wish list is full of all things pink, soft, and sweet. Here’s to all of the hearts and hoping we get some more snow.

I have some really awesome news, you guys!  I’M GOING TO NEW YORK FASHION WEEK! I had briefly thought about going a while back, but the idea seemed overwhelming. I’ll admit it- I’m really not a fashion blogger, but a style & lifestyle blogger. I blog about the things I like that work for me in hope of inspiring other women to love and cultivate their own style.

But then I got a very unexpected invite to the Yuna Yang show, and everyone was basically like, go, Caro, go! I really never expected myself to ever get an invite to a NYFW show, and that really feels like a huge honor to me. I definitely got some anxiety of thinking I must have been invited by mistake or something because I’m not a big blogger and usually am afraid of not being good enough- but I think to get to that point I need to jump at chances like this one- right? So my RSVP has been sent and I’m goooooing!

As of this moment, I’m not sure what my plans are or who I’m going with, if anyone. Any tips from past attendees would be appreciated. (or if you’re in the DC area and heading up around the 11th, let me know!)

This is probably the kind of thing I’ll wear- simple with pops of color (and likely leopard). I toyed with the idea of going totally street style- but I don’t want to look cartoon-ish, so unless I can be styled by Kelly Dempsey, I’ll leave that to the pros and go with what I know.
