This post was sponsored by VIIcode and I received free product for review. As always, opinions are my own!

Aside from the skin woes I mentioned yesterday, I have been way better over the past few years about preventative care for my fair skin. SPF is a must, as well as a moisturizer. But I’ve been neglecting my eyes! That is until VIIcode reached out to me asking if I would like to try their oxygen eye cream. And now I’m wondering why I left my eyes alone for so long when I can get what feels like a spa treatment right at home, especially if you try to turn your beauty routine into a ritual, like I do!

Make sure to start with a clean face, then gently massage your under eye with the crescent activation strip. Honestly, I was tempted to skip this step, but whether this was psychosomatic or not, I really did feel like the cells under my eyes were coming alive! It’s sometimes good to follow instructions, no?

After the little message, just dab a tiny bit of the VIIcode T2 Oxygen Eye Cream (VII pronounced ‘vee two’) under your eyes. Oh my goodness it smelled and felt so good from first opening. The cream has no greasy feeling to it, but a nice thickness. It makes sense that it smells so good because of the key ingredients:

  • Elderberries: Antioxidant content maintains the skin cells, leaving you with glowing, younger skin
  • Jojoba Oil: Not only firms and keeps your skin hydrated, but also useful in lessening the appearance of skin wrinkles. Rich in antioxidants, which help regenerate the skin cells.
  • Evening Primrose: Boosts blood circulation, which is helpful to treat tired skin and eyes and is especially effective in removing wrinkles.

Using this stuff is literally giving your skin the royal treatment. Apparently, Napoleon Bonaparte’s wife, Josephine, is said to have used this same luxurious formula, developed more than 250 years ago.

History lesson aside, I fully endorse this eye cream. While I’m not seeing a significant difference in dark circles per say, my very sensitive eyes love the stuff, and they feel brighter and tighter. I’m tempted to use it all over my face, but I want to treasure my little bottle of VIIcode T2 Oxygen Eye Cream and make it last.

Did you know skincare should change with the seasons? Of course it should! As the weather changes, our skin needs different routines from us. When we go on holiday, we find ourselves wearing less make-up, leaving our hair as it’s natural wavy self and altogether being more as God intended us. There’s a reason for that. Not only is it less effort but it makes sense in the sun. So, as Spring finally appears, what do we need to change?

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Gel Cream/1.7 oz.

Moisturizer

Our poor faces have been riddled with cold weather and dry heat from inside heating and car heaters. It’s time to get the moisture back into our skin without it being sucked right back out. Go for a cream that has a healing or protective element to it. Moisturizers with vitamin E are perfect.

Take Sunblock Everywhere

Our Spring months are becoming more and more unpredictable. It’s possible to have snow on the mountains and a heat wave in the same week these days. You never really know when you’ll need sunblock but it’s so important for your skin. Having the best sunblock for your face and neck areas when you’re out about will be handy.

Cleanse and Exfoliate

We’re often outside for longer during the Spring and Summer months. The days seem longer because we have more light and it’s much more fun. However, this means that we’re more likely to pick up additional grime and bacteria on our skin. Good cleansers and exfoliators will be vital to keeping your skin clean and glowing. Cleanse with a gentle cleanser twice a day, and exfoliate with a natural exfoliator three times a week.

Eye Cream

Have you noticed yourself squinting a lot more recently? Or perhaps reaching for the sunglasses? Of course, we’re exposed to more sun this time of year which can mean our eyes take a battering. Investing in a decent eye cream will do those little black bags wonders. It will also work towards stopping any fine lines from developing. Top tip – Use an anti-wrinkle eye cream, no matter what age you are!

Make-up Shopping

Now here’s one we can all get on board with! Make-up shopping! As the seasons change, so does our make-up. We tend to go for lighter tones and lighter foundations as the sun comes out. While you’re shopping, keep in mind that it’s a good idea to look for make-up that provides sun protection too. I just made sure my “everyday face” routine included an SPF since I know I’ll be out in the sun more.

Updating Your Wardrobe

You may be wondering what that has to do with your skin routine, but a lot of your wardrobe does, especially your accessories. For example, a hat that covers your head and shades your neck will give you protection when the sun is out. Dodgy sun burns are not a good look and certainly not good for your health. Make sure you have suitable hats, sunglasses, shoes and cover-ups that will serve you well in any scenario.

No matter what you do to update your skincare for Spring, be sure to enjoy the season!

Keep Hydrated

First of all, make sure that you’re drinking enough water. Not only is this great for your whole body, but it will also help to improve blood circulation to the skin, thereby preventing wrinkles! During the summer it’s a lot easier to remember to drink it, so make a mental note to do so throughout the day during the colder months. Make sure that you’re using a hydrating moisturizer instead of a gel one, which may be perfect for the summer but won’t be quite intense enough to make your skin feel good through winter. Before bed, use a night cream and eye cream so you’ll wake up feeling fresh and happy. If you think your skin looks really tired, check out ideas from KitagawaDermatology.com/botox/.

Protect Your Skin

Obviously you wear sunscreen all summer, right? You better wear it all summer, anyway! It’s important that you protect yourself carefully from those damaging ultraviolet rays that can make your skin dry and lacking in brightness. But during the winter, a lot of people assume that they no longer need sunscreen – but this is absolutely not the case. The winter sun is just as damaging as the summer sun, so it’s important that you apply a layer of sunscreen before you put on your makeup, or that you use foundation or moisturizer with a high SPF. During the winter you should also make sure that you cover up your skin to protect it from the horrible weather – pull a hat over your forehead and make sure that you wear gloves to protect the delicate skin on the back of your hands from cracking and bleeding.

Use Makeup Cleverly

Makeup is one of the best ways for you to make sure that your skin is flawless all year round. First of all, make sure that you’ve moisturized – then use a primer intended for dewy skin, making sure that you rub it into your pores to give your skin an even, smooth finish. This will help you to apply your foundation perfectly. Go for a beauty blender or a makeup sponge to help blend it into your hairline and over your nose, particularly if you’re using a high coverage foundation. You should also make sure that you’re using the right shade of foundation for the time of year – you might need a lighter one than you do in the summer. Use a lighter concealer under your eyes and down the bridge of your nose and up into the center of your forehead, and blend with your beauty blender. Highlighting and strobing is one of the biggest trends lately. In order to do it right, consider which parts of your face the light is likely to hit, and add highlighter there. Your brow bone, the top of your cheekbone, the tip of your nose and the bow of your lips are all safe bets. If you want a more summery glow, go for a highlighter with gold in it, or maybe iridescent white and violet if you’re looking to be more of a winter ice queen.
