I didn’t even realize that we’d hit September until late Friday night, but isn’t it kind of cool how as soon as September hit, so did some fall weather? I’m not going to be fooled- I know we’ll probably have a few more summery days before fall actually hits later this month, but it’s o much fun to start thinkin’ boots and sweaters and all. pumpkin. everything.

September is going to be a super fun month. Kendall and I are road-tripping down to Charleston, NC for a wedding and stopping to see family in Myrtle Beach on the way down and back. Then the following week, I’m going on my annual girls trip to Chowderfest on Long Beach Island, NJ. I just want to buy Tiffany and I all matching outfits and wear our boots and tromp around eating seafood for a weekend. It’s going to be great!

What do you have planned for September?

I’m no stranger to animal print, and I think I want to add a leopard clutch + leopard booties to my arsenal of accessories. Actually, lets throw in a leopard puffer vest too! Not to wear together. I’m not that crazy.

Homegirl was literally just gluing her makeup brushes back together this weekend. Perhaps I need a new set that matches my cute pink, black, and white bathroom?

I keep saying I want another pair of loafers since I have just about worn through my gold Coach pair and I’m considering getting a pink pair just because pink isn’t a traditionally fall color BUT WHY CAN’T IT BE?

This is a purse shaped like a PSL. That is all.

Speaking of PSL- my future Sissy in law and I are getting matching basic fall extravaganza sweatshirts.

I’m also really, really wanting a monogram sherpa situation. How cozy, amiright?

I haven’t found a pair of nude heeled boots that fit my foot right, so I might try the Via Spiga Beckett Tall Boot.

There’s a little nip in the air- actually, it may not even be a nip it’s just not HAWT. This means that my least favorite time of the year is winding down. I had a pumpkin spice bagel yesterday. Fall is coming. But it’s not quite here yet.

Last night, Bubbles & Bloggers had their August meet up at the Embassy Row Hotel with special guests from  StyleMeBar. We try to pick out a theme for our events, and this month is was “come wearing your favorite summer outfit.” Kind of perfect for the last B&B bash of the summer.

My outfit was one that has been on repeat since June. The dress, which I also have in pink, is a style I wasn’t sure would work on me but I LOVE. I can’t do off the shoulder, but a cold shoulder has been my sassy go-to way to wear the trend. I just have to pop on a great Stella & Dot necklace and the softest loafers (an excellent TJ Maxx find) and I have an outfit in 3 easy steps. I’ve also been carrying around this sweet bag from The Kate Spade at Clarksburg Premium Outlets. You might have noticed it in my engagement pictures– but it makes for a great tote while I’m lugging my life around DC.

I find that I really love a statement necklace to jazz up pretty much any outfit that I wear. Since this dress is solid, I usually grab my York Necklace to add some color and texture to it. And it is absolutely zero secret that I adore Stella & Dot. I still need to spend my reward bucks from the online style session I hosted, but I’m glad I waited becauuuuuse Stella & Dot is offering 25% OFF sale items, which means you can save up to 50% on your favorite pieces! This sale is on now and will expire on Wednesday, 9/6.

I eschewed gingham with a firm hand up until last year. I hated the preppy “checks” especially when I was a super wise and *~edgy~* 10th grader who preferred Hot Topic above all else. I saw the light and have been wanting to add more gingham into my wardrobe.

I think my turning point was seeing so many cute outfits from Lauren that break the pattern mixing rule flawlessly. (Fun fact: she was one of the first bloggers I followed!) I tried it myself for Valentine’s Day and the mix ‘n’ match layers just felt so fun! Right now, the last thing I want to do is layer up, but I’m thinking of using gingham as a neutral for button-downs under sweaters once it gets cooler. And yes, I’m already wishing summer away into the crisp fall-ness I look forward to every year. I’m looking for cool, sunny, October days with a punch of color. Is it weird that I’ve started planning fall outfits already?

Just like endorphins, pink makes me so happy. I was going though some of my old posts and I found the ASOS Cotton smock dress with frill detail and it honestly made me smile. Pink was always my signature color growing up- Candace in blue, Caroline in pink. That’s how it always went. My bedroom was pink-walled with pink carpeting, and my dorm room was periwinkle and all shades of pink. As for my home decor now, I’ve toned down the pink exponentially (because living with a boy) but we do have subtle pink accents in our bathroom.

I’ve done some research, and with the psychology of the color pink, it’s honestly not surprising that pink has always been a favorite of mine. It’s considered to be feminine and romantic, affectionate and intimate, thoughtful and caring. It tones down the physical passion of red replacing it with a gentle loving energy.

On the negative side (yes, there is a negative side to pink) it can be associated with being physically weak, over-emotional and over-cautious, having emotional neediness or unrealistic expectations, being naive, immature and girlish, lack of will power and lack of self worth. There you have it- the many faults of Caroline.

I’d rather focus on that good stuff though- pink represents empathy and sensitivity, which I think are two of my best traits. And I can wear them , literally, on my sleeve… or foot, or eyes…

ASOS always has a great selection of pink everything. I’m still eyeing the smock dress, but the other pink dresses I love are a little bit more formal (great for wedding guests!) Check out my other favorite ASOS pink bits and let me know- what is your signature color and why?
