Having a wedding is a monumental occasion, it’s binding you and your partner for the rest of your days and solidifies your relationship with them! Because of its emotional importance, you’re going to want to make sure you have it in the right location for you, but what are your options?

Wedding Ceremony Sign

Church

The classic option, but also one of the best for a reason! A church is a brilliant place to get married, regardless of whether you are religious or not. Churches are where marriages originated from in the west, so by getting married in a church you’re going to be getting married in the place where it all began, giving it a traditional feeling if that’s what you’re after. Some churches are also fantastic pieces of architecture, so if you’re getting married in a very old and well kept church you can expect to see people in awe of the building itself and not just because of you! Churches too are often one of the easiest venues to get a hold of because of how many there are dotted around the country, but this does mean that for some of the nicer ones you will have to wait a while, so keep this in mind before you commit!

Banquet Hall

One of the lesser seen venues for a wedding, but still one of the best and perhaps the most unique setting for a wedding. A banquet hall is a big, long hall that has big, long tables to accompany it! Similar to churches, these halls are often very old and are steeped in heritage, however there are modern ones available for you to pick from. These are good because you can get a wedding that feels very personal as there is only going to be one room, perfect for those of you who want a very powerful wedding!

Outdoors

This is becoming an increasingly popular choice amongst people that don’t want to spend too much but still want a wedding to remember! Having an outdoor wedding reception is one of the best things to do in the 21st century. It’s not something that has really been done before, and the effects of it are fantastic. By being not enclosed by walls and glass, you’re truly exposed to the elements and this can be a real crowd pleaser if the weather goes your way! There is nothing quite as enjoyable as having a wedding that is outside in the sun, so have a look at the different places you can do this!

All of these venues are great choices, if you want a tradition and awe inspiring wedding then have it in a big church, if you’re after a powerful and personal wedding then have it in a banquet hall or if you’re after something that exposes you to the outside world, then have it outside! Music is a very important part of a wedding and is something you need to keep in mind, so read this to figure out what your perfect playlist will be!

Choosing what to wear to a formal event is a mean feat at the best of times, but it is only made more stressful when you are uncertain as to what your “formal” dress code actually entails. Depending on the event, location, and the hosts, “formal” can mean an entire range of things, all contrasting one another, which all can be incredibly confusing if you don’t know your hosts very well or don’t attend many formal gatherings or parties. Is it a black-tie event? Is cocktail wear appropriate? What even is a white-tie event? And how do all of these things affect what a lady can wear? The last thing you want to do is turn up underdressed, but what if you go all out and everyone else is dressed more casually? Fear not, as long as you follow these tips, you will always look your best at any formal event you attend in the future.

Long Floor Length Cocktail Dress

Consider The Location

The location of your formal event can greatly affect how you dress, regardless of the dress code, so it’s something that you must take into consideration when picking your outfit. If the event is being hosted inside, in a hall or a ballroom, then a strapless dress and heels is a sensible option. However, if it’s being hosted outside then this would not be a practical suggestion. A shawl or jacket might be required outside, to keep you from getting too cold. As well as this, you may want to choose a shoe with a thicker, lower, or no heel, to avoid you tripping on anything outside, or having your heels sink into the grass, if a grassy area is where the event is being hosted. Despite this, a sensible shoe is always a sensible suggestion, as you don’t want to have to be sat down half the evening because your feet are simply too sore for you to stand up.

Consider The Invitation

It may sound a little silly, but the medium in which your invitation arrived can often tell you a lot more about what you should wear than the invitation does itself. If you were added into a group on Facebook, then I think it’s relatively safe to say that, while you should still look dressed up for the event you are attending, it’s not one that requires you to bring out your best ball gown and pearls. On the other hand, if your invitation came via the post on a piece of thick, gold embossed card, then you perhaps should consider investing in a fancy floor length number.

Blush Pink Floral Guest List

Get Hold Of The Guestlist

Having the list of guests to hand is incredibly useful for a number of reasons. Firstly, it provides you with a range of different people with whom you can discuss their interpretation of the ambiguous dress code. As well as this, you can also discuss what each other are wearing to ensure that you don’t turn up to the affair wearing the exact same thing as someone else.

Stick To The Basics

Regardless of the type of formal event, there are always some things that you tend to be able to get away with. One such example is a cocktail dress – Cocktail dresses are shorter and a little funkier than your traditional, full-length evening gown, and are often cheaper too, which is incredibly helpful if you’re a little strapped for cash on the run up to the party. You tend to be able to get away with a cocktail dress at weddings, or any time of “drinks party” taking place in the early evening. There are certain makeup basics that you can get away with too, such as a classic smoky eye. Many eye shadow palettes, such as the Billy B x Gallany Essentials Palette from Gallany Cosmetics, contain all the colors you need for a knockout eye makeup look. Coupling this with some liquid eyeliner, and a volumizing mascara will provide a classic, elegant makeup look.

Suit Up And Stand Out

It’s true what they say, it is always better to be overdressed than underdressed, so if you really don’t know what the dress code entails then go all out -There are worse things than being remembered as the best-dressed guest. There are many different ways to make yourself stand out, one popular example is wearing a tailored suit and some sassy stilettos. Women wearing suits might not necessarily be appropriate for all formal events, but if the invitation states “Black Tie Event”, then why should it only be men that have right to wear one?

Keep Things In Balance

You have to remember when dressing up for a formal event not to make your appearance too overwhelming; Otherwise, you may end up missing the elegant, and classy part of the dress code. If you’re going for a bold eye look, have a more subtle lip color, and vise versa. If you’re wearing a lot of sparkly statement jewelry, ensure you wear a relatively plain dress. If you decide on a lovely sequined number, make sure to keep it floor length, to avoid looking like you’re dressed for a night out on the town.

Just Ask The Host

If all of this fails to provide you with any guidance, and you are still scratching your head a few days before the event, struggling to decide what to wear, it’s always best to simply ask the host. Trust me; They will appreciate you asking for their help and voicing your confusion a lot more than they would turning up to an event they’d put a lot of effort in, with all of their guests looking nothing like how they’d envisioned.

Hopefully, this advice has given you some inspiration as to what you would like to wear to your next formal event. Just remember that it doesn’t matter how much highlight or how many sparkly brooches you put on, if you don’t feel comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing, then you’re never going to look right. No matter what you decide to wear, ensure you wear it loud and proud, because confidence is your best feature, and is what will make your night as fun as you are hoping.

If you’ve recently got engaged or you’ve been thinking about your wedding for as long as you can remember, you may be considering lots of options when it comes to choosing a venue. With so many wonderful places around, it can be tough to decide where to host your special day. If you’re thinking of going outdoors, here are some pros and cons to bear in mind before you make a decision.

Wedding arrow signs

The pros

Stunning scenery

Nothing beats rolling hills, dramatic mountains or sweeping golden sands. Not only can you tie the knot surrounded by incredibly beautiful scenery, but your photographs will also look spectacular.

Making the most of the weather

If you’re getting married in a hot country or sunny skies are forecast, it’s a shame to be cooped up inside on your wedding day. Getting hitched outdoors enables you to make the most of the weather and enjoy the fresh air.

Individuality

When you get married in the great outdoors, there’s scope to make your celebration truly unique. Most of us have been to a wedding at a hotel, a golf club or a castle. But have you ventured into the forest for a wedding, watched a couple say their vows by a lake or watched the sunset over the ocean after a ceremony before?

The cost

The cost of every wedding varies significantly, but often, hosting an outdoor wedding works out cheaper than hiring a venue. If you’re working on a tight budget and you’ve only looked at indoor venues, it may be worth visiting some outdoor options.

The cons

The weatherThe weather can be both an advantage and a disadvantage thanks to its unpredictability. A splendid setup could become a complete nightmare if the weather doesn’t play ball. If you’ve got everyone sat patiently outside or you’re planning an al fresco party, the last thing you want is torrential rain and high winds. If the weather isn’t guaranteed, try and come up with a plan B, just in case.

The practicalities

When you’re getting married outside, there may be some practical issues you need to consider, such as your electricity supply and where your guests are going to go to the toilet. Port a potty rental is a great solution for the latter while hiring a generator could work if you’re tying the knot out in the sticks. If you’ve arranged for caterers to prepare food on-site, they may have their own power supply, so liaise with them in the run-up to the big day.

Choosing a location for your wedding is one of the most exciting parts of wedding planning. If you’re considering hosting your ceremony and reception outside, there are lots of pros and cons to think about. If you’re struggling to narrow down your options, write a list, and see which venue comes out on top. Think about what you want to your day to look like, and the kind of tone you want to set. Celebrate your style and personality, and have fun adding some unique, personal touches.

Hotels are a popular choice for many people while they’re traveling. Some like a cheaper and more sociable hostel, while others prefer a more private apartment or house. However, for those who enjoy hotels, there are some important things to look for. Choosing the perfect place to stay is an essential part of getting your travels right. If you pick somewhere unsuitable, it could ruin your time away. But what should you be looking for when you choose a hotel? Everyone has different priorities, but there are some main categories that you’ll want to consider.

The Plaza New York

Convenient Location

The location of your hotel will almost always be important. However, what rates as a convenient location depends on your trip and your personal preferences. For some people, convenient will mean right next to the airport or in the city center. For others, it means being close to the best restaurants and bars or having good access to public transport. The important thing to do is balance your location preference with your budget. Some spots will be more expensive than others so you might have to compromise on what works best for you.

La Palestra

Facilities You Will Use

Of course, your hotel needs to have useful features that are worthy of the money you’re paying. A good internet connection is now a top priority for many people when they look for a hotel. If you’re a fitness fanatic, you might require your hotel to have a gym. If you don’t want to go far for food, perhaps you need there to be a restaurant. On the flipside, you don’t want to pay for facilities you won’t use. If you don’t need a hotel with a restaurant, bar, spa, and gym, there’s no point paying for one. You can find a more basic hotel that suits your needs.

The Plaza Room

A Room That Meets Your Needs

Once you’ve looked at the hotel as a whole, you also need to know more about the rooms. Sometimes, all you need is a bed, somewhere to put your clothes, and a coffee machine. But on other trips, you might want something a bit more luxurious. As well as considering the bedroom, don’t forget to think about the bathroom. Sleek hotel bathroom pods are often the best part about staying in a hotel. You need to make sure the bathroom has what you need, whether that’s a huge walk-in shower or a large tub.

Excellent Customer Service

The service you receive is important whenever you’re spending money. You need to know that you’ll be well looked after in a hotel, even if you don’t anticipate needing anything. You want to know that problems will be fixed quickly and that the staff will go out of their way to help you. The best way to find out about the service you’ll receive is to read reviews. Previous guests will let you know about their experience when they stayed.

If you’re booking a trip, give your hotel some thought before making a choice. You’ll thank yourself later.

You might think the idea of romance and wonder comes built into a wedding. But anyone who has been to a few ceremonies in the past will tell you that the mood can differ substantially. Some weddings really do feel like a legal contract being signed rather than a declaration of love. There’s nothing that makes the ceremony stand out and instead the wedding is completely forgettable. You don’t want that, I’m sure, so how about looking at some of these ideas to add a little romance to your own wedding? If you take this advice, I’m sure you’ll have a splendid ceremony that your guests remember, and you hold dear for years.

Foil Wedding Vow Books

Write Your Own Vows

Don’t settle for the traditional vows on your wedding day. For one thing, they might not have the meaning that you want them to. For another, the vows are an opportunity to tell your partner how you feel, showing your love to them and the world. Don’t let this opportunity slip you buy, even if you are truly awful at public speeches. Remember, it doesn’t have to sound like poetry. It just needs to be heartfelt, and your partner will know that you mean the words. Although you do need to make sure that you both spend some time writing your vows. It can be a little awkward when one delivers an epic delivery of love and the other a post-it note of emotions.

Choose An Epic Location

Don’t get married at city hall if you want your wedding ceremony to feel romantic. Even if you’re not religious, there are plenty of other options that will make your wedding sensational. For instance, you can get married on a beach in Hawaii. With a Hawaii wedding, you can guarantee that your ceremony feels truly special and the environment will give you that sense of romance that you’ve been craving. Just imagine walking along the sand as the waves lap in the distance, towards the love of your life.

Or, how about getting married on a mountainside overlooking a stunning view. Again, this type of setting will make your ceremony romantic and spectacular for your guests. If you want a picture perfect location for your wedding, the trick is finding the right wedding planner. With a wedding planner on your team, you can make sure that you find your dream venue.

Rock and Roll wedding invitation

Add Unique Touches

If you want your wedding to feel romantic, you need to add some unique touches of your own to the proceeding. For instance, you can abandon the wedding march and instead have your own music playing as you walk down the aisle. If you need inspiration, have a look at this wonderful scene from the classic film, Love Actually.

Or, maybe, you could think about how you’re going to arrive at your wedding. You can opt for a car or limo but why not take it one step further. Rent a horse drawn carriage and feel like a proper princess as you arrive at the venue. It’s the perfect way to start the next chapter of your beautiful, personal fairy-tale.
