Although technically Sarah‘s engagement party wasn’t a holiday party, it was a party during the holiday season so close enough, right?

Dani and I totally Lucy and Ethel-ed it the whole day. We met up for pics in the chilly morning, ran a couple errands in Georgetown, got a bite to eat, and off we went. One might think that a couple of girls who text mostly all day every day would run out of things to talk about and one would be wrong. We bounced around ideas for Bubbles & Bloggers, our own blogs, weddings, relationships, friendships- it was perfect girl time.

It was also the perfect excuse to wear my jazzy jumpsuit. It’s somehow comfy, elegant, and unexpected all in one. That’s why I wore it to NYFW last year. The jumpsuit is great base for an outfit to accessorize and doll up as necessary. This time around, I paired it with another one of my favorite jackets and leopard heels I’ve been waiting for a reason to wear. Plus I brought along my leopard loafers just in case I wimped out on heels. I didn’t because my little Steve Maddens were actually super comfy!

The party itself was held at Pippin Hill Farm and was absolutely lovely. Sarah was absolutely glowing and such a sweet hostess, making sure to introduce everyone. Her fiancé’s family hosted and there was a beautiful selection of wine, beer, and nibbles. The backdrop was really the icing on the cake and I would love to go back to spend more time there. Congrats Sarah + Gerald! I can’t wait to celebrate more with you both!

One of the best parts of Bubbles & Bloggers is the fact that we support our own bosses in their entrepreneurial endeavors. A couple weekends ago, we had a Shop The City meetup to check out and support a relatively new business venture by our friend and member Sahra. It’s exactly how what it sounds like- a shopping tour of some amazing local spots. I won’t spoil it for you- go on the tour and see it for yourself! We started on 14th Street, hitting up some spots I’ve heard up but had never been to, which was pretty awesome. After a brief(ish) stop to take pictures in front of the totes-appropes WORK IT GURL mural (where I quick-changed into my new rose gold skirt in the parking lot), we hopped in our own private bus and headed to Georgetown. We saw a few boutiques there before a massive storm hit and we ran to the Graham for Amanda’s Whistle & Wild popup and Marisa’s mini styling session.

Really late in the game, Dani thought it might be fun to pop a Sex and the City theme on our day. B&B usually themes our events, and this theme made a lot of sense for a day of shopping with lady-friends. I’m not sure if I totally nailed it, but Dani said I was a Carrie Diaries version of Carrie Bradshaw. I’ll take it! What do you think?

Yes, I got this skirt while shopping.

The skirt from this post can now be found on ebay

Remember when I told you about my awesome Loft haul from their awesome sale? It turns out that only about half of it worked out- sizing issues. I’m a petite, through and through. The Petite Diamond Shimmer Skirt was definitely one of the items I kept. I just feel so happy + pretty in it. Isn’t that the point of dressing? Finding something that that makes you feel good?

The skirt kind of speaks for itself, so I didn’t want to do too much with the rest of the outfit. Enter trusty black OTK boots and a black shirt I’ve probably had since high school. The necklace is great though, isn’t it? I also caught that one major sale. I don’t think the Courtney Pearl Bib is available anymore, but the original Courtney can be found here.

My new wristlet will probably be making a lot of appearances. Unfortunately right before New Year’s Eve, I lost my entire wallet with license, house key, credit card, debit card, Metro card, JRINK frequent buyer card… EVERYTHING. I got everything replaced, but the wallet was so perfect that I was hard pressed to find another with the exact shape and functionality with brass hard-wear. Like, I got really weird about how specific I needed this wallet to be. I wanted it to unzip all the way around so I could swipe my Metro card easily. I ended up finding this new one at Target, of all places. This was after checking the usual suspects- Nordstrom, Macy’s, even Kate Spade.

I’m loving these little rooftop photo shoots… even if I do freeze.

This past weekend simultaneously seemed never-ending and entirely too short. Saturday was our Bubbles & Bloggers Barbie Brunch at Hawthorne, and it could not have been better! That will actually be a separate post tomorrow because it was so amazing- we had an absolute blast! Dani and I got there entirely too early to set up- not much actually had to be done thanks to the Hawthorne crew, so we set out to take some pictures before the rest of our party arrived.

I have been saving this sweater since late January (and now it’s on super sale) specifically for this brunch after spying it on McKenna Bleu. The neon pink is a little insane, but this may actually be the most cozy thing I own, and it definitely makes a statement. I actually was really proud of myself for organically pulling of a street style look. I feel like sometimes I want to, but it looks almost costume-y.

My street-style Barbie look was very Caroline at its root- just fun. I love playing with color (and a little glitter) so the theme, which admittedly I picked, was super fun to dress for. I hope everyone else thought so too, but judging by the outfits yesterday, all the ladies were game! I ordered my Bride hat the weekend after I got engaged. It came in on Friday and I was literally happy dancing around DC with it, super excited that it came in on time for the brunch. I will be shamelessly rocking it from now until forever.

So, first of all I’m sorry for being a bad blogger and kind of letting The CaroLøve fall by the wayside last week and into this week. Besides a post engagement euphoria, I’ve also come down with a nasty sinus infection situation. I spent a lot of last week struggling to breathe, pinning wedding everything, and, frankly, caring about little else than Kendall and starting our future together. I’ll probably be posting a lot of my wedding faves and likely I’ll have a bit of a harder time posting 5+ times a week. I ask you to bear with me and give me as much feedback as you want!

Second of all- I’m sorry I’m so late on my NYFW post! Now that I’ve gotten a taste of the experience, I’d love to go back! I was in the city for less than 24 hours, but getting to experience my first NYFW show was such an amazing experience, and I’m truly honored that I was even invited.

After a morning blowout at Drybar Midtown East with with an amazing stylist named Fernando, I hopped in a car and made my way to the Yuna Yang show at Gotham Comedy Club. There were only a few girls already there, and we quickly started chatting as we waited outside the club to get in. I mentioned how I’d brought along my camera to the city to have my friend take outfit pics for me before she left for brunch and I left for Drybar, but somehow lost my SD card. Juliette was kind enough to step in an do a quick shoot for me! As she said in her email when she sent the picture over- Not too bad for a three minute impromptu shoot in the rain!

Another lovely blogger I met in line was Lexie. Meeting her was like being a little kid and meeting your favorite princess at Disney World. This woman is a princess in real life and so incredibly sweet. I’ve been following her on Instagram for quit so I kind of fangirled when she was standing right in front of me.

Since it was my first taste of NYFW, I was trying so hard to keep an open mind about how things would run, but there is a bit of chaos that I found overwhelming. Half of our tickets had bar codes on them and half didn’t- which confused the team running the show as much as it did us. Juliette and I did not have bar codes so we were sent off to a side line and when we got into the show we weren’t sure if we would be able to see anything. Thank goodness she knew what she was doing, because despite having the “wrong” kind of ticket, we ended up with seats right where the models walked off the stage. I’m so glad we had the view we did because the clothes were incredible- such an amazing display of texture and color. Despite being totally exquisite, the styles were also accessible. I would wear anything in the collection! I’m not even going to pretend I have any idea what I’m talking about, but I simply loved the collection! I’ve said this before, I never studied fashion per say, but I know what I like and I love playing with style. My favorite piece- the mint green fur coat!

I’m still not sure why I was invited to the Yuna Yang show, and I’m still so honored that I was. I don’t think I would last the whole New York Fashion Week, realistically, but in Fall I would love to go up for at least a few more days. I found Dana’s post about why she skipped it altogether this spring really on point, and I can totally understand where she’s coming from, even as a total newbie. While I could sit and appreciate a gorgeous collection from a designer I hadn’t heard of before, that I want to get to know better, I looked to my left and saw a girl having her photog take a picture of her next to the (at this point) empty stage. Why? To prove you were there? Can’t you just enjoy being in the space you were in with the incredible display you just witnessed? It just made my skin crawl a little. But I’m still so grateful that I was included and I do hope to be able to experience more NYFW in the future.

Have you ever been to NYFW? What do you love and what could you do without?
