Original Food

Most parties are made or broken when it comes to the food. Choosing your food and ensuring it is prepared properly can be hard to get right, but if you want your party to be as successful as possible then you will need to make sure that you arrange some food which is likely to blow people away. The better the food, the better the event, so it’s worth spending some real time and energy on this part of your event. If you are struggling to come up with anything that original, then you might want to do some research by way of inspiration and to figure out what you can possibly do to keep the food as original as you would like it to be. Your guests will definitely remember a party where amazing, original food was provided.

Unique Decorations

It’s clear enough that you generally want to decorate a party, but the way that you decorate it is also hugely important. You need to make sure that it is unique if you want it to be genuinely memorable – something which many people completely fail to do most of the time. A good way to approach this is to think of what theme you want your party to have, and then simply create your own decorations based around that theme. By creating your own, you can be absolutely certain that nobody else is going to have the same, and that will mean that you are able to ensure the party will be as original as possible in this respect. You might even be able to keep those decorations as memorabilia, which can aid in the memory of the party as well.

Entertainment

All parties have some kind of entertainment, even if that’s just a little dancing. But if you are serious about wanting your party to stand out from the rest, then you will need to try and think of some entertainment which is going to be more memorable than most. There are many options available to you for this kind of thing. It might be that you have a photo booth frame set up so that people can take their own photos of the event, perhaps even with funny options on the photographs. Or you might have a mechanical bull in the corner of the room, or maybe even a temporary ice rink set up outside. It depends largely on the event itself, and also on what you think your guests will be likely to enjoy. If you manage to get the entertainment part of the event right, then you will find that it really does make for a much more memorable party on the whole. Don’t be afraid to use your imagination and go for something totally unique, as the more unique it is the better it will be on the whole.

Guest List

There is a certain art to being able to know how to invite the right people to your event as well, and this is something that is worth trying to get right if you want your party to be as memorable as possible. You need to try and get together a group of people who are likely to enjoy each other’s company, but who do not necessarily know each other too well, as you do want there to be the chance for people to meet new people as well. Figuring out this, as well as trying to avoid any instances of genuine dislike between party-goers, can be quite a puzzle. But if you get this puzzle right, you might find that it makes for a much more enjoyable party, and once which your guests will find to be much more memorable as well.

As long as you pay attention to the above, you should be able to make your party as memorable as you would hope it to be. Work on these and watch as your party guests are amazed.

Plan Everything in Advance

Planning is such a good way for you to ensure you tackle challenges in the right kind of way. It can eliminate a lot of your wasted time because you will have had the chance to think about what you’re going to do and how you’re going to use your time before you even take any action. So get into the habit of planning things out methodically and clearly ahead of time.

Set Realistic Goals for Yourself

Another way to live more efficiently involves setting goals for yourself that you can then focus on and pursue each day. These goals will allow you to pay more attention to what you’re doing and how you’re spending your time each day so it’s definitely something that’s worth pursuing for you. The goals need to be realistic for them to have any worth in your life however.

Change How You Drive

Inefficient driving can cost you a lot of money if you’re not careful so changing up how you drive your car each day could be a massive boost to you and your family. So what does efficient driving actually look like? The key to driving more efficiently is driving more smoothly and not starting and stopping so often. The smoother and less stop-start your driving experience is, the more fuel and money you’ll save.

Learn How to Work Efficiently

How you carry out your work has an impact on your career success so it makes sense to start thinking about how efficiently you’re able to work. Working efficiently can mean many different things in many different contexts so it requires you to tread carefully and think it through. If you run a business, it might be a good idea to study lean manufacturing education, which helps with efficiency. Or it might simply be a case of removing distractions from your place of work.

Stop Trying to Multitask

This is the cardinal sin that people are guilty of when they’re trying to become more efficient. Doing multiple things at the same time makes sense when you’re looking to live in a more efficient kind of way, right? Wrong. In fact, multitasking can often make you even less efficient than you are right now because you end up doing a lot of things badly and not even saving much time. It’s a false economy in the truest sense so stop!

Efficiency will improve your life if you embrace it, and now you know how to do exactly that. Each of these ideas will improve your efficiency levels in a different area of your life.

Despite your dreams of a fairytale come true, the wedding day can be very stressful. Yes, you will finally be marrying the man you love, but with the amount of planning that goes into making the big event happen, you may be in danger of having a stress-induced meltdown. There is the potential  for mistakes, so you want to do all you can to make life easier for yourself.

I’ve been involved in a few myself and seen room for improvement, mentally taking notes for my own big day.

bride emergency kit

1.  Planning is important

There is lots to do before the big day, from looking at the best venues to picking out your bridesmaid dresses. Make a checklist of everything you need to do, and accomplish your tasks ahead of time. This will give you peace of mind in the run-up to the wedding and will cut down a lot of the stress on your wedding day. I’m using The Knot checklist… kind of out of order but it’s at least letting me know about where I should stand with tasks before the big day.

2. Get plenty of sleep the night before

You have a long day ahead of you, so it is advisable to get plenty of sleep the night before. You don’t want to spend the night celebrating with alcohol, and then wake up the next morning with the mother (in law) of all hangovers. I made this mistake at a friend’s wedding… never again. Get your beauty sleep, and you will wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on whatever the day throws at you.

3. Hire the beauty squad

Weddings can be expensive, so you will want to save money where you can. However, you don’t want to look like Bonzo the Clown when you walk down the aisle because of your best friends ill-conceived efforts with a makeup brush, so hire a professional to work on your hair and makeup. You want to look good on your wedding photos, so the cost will be worth it.

I found my MUA through a friend of my mom’s and my hair stylist through a family friend stylist who wasn’t available. Use Instagram and talk to your friends! My venue suggested crazy expensive stylists that I wasn’t super impressed with, so it took a little research but I’m very happy with my choices.

On the same note- don’t feel like everyone going to the wedding needs to get ready with you. This was a mistake that set one wedding I went to back over an hour.

4. Find moral support

Your family and friends are great for moral support, so for all your emotional needs, they should be your first port of call. You need those people around you who are going to uplift you, encourage you, and make you smile. Ditch anybody who will only make you feel bad, and give them a job to do to keep them out of your hair. My MUA also said she only wants my mom with me while I’m getting my makeup done. I’m fine with that.

5. Call in the professionals

Your family may be able to take on some of the wedding tasks, such as directing guests in the car park and looking after the kids after the service. However, there are some aspects of the day where the professionals should be called on. So, to avoid the mishap of Uncle Pete leaving the lens cap on, and your mother-in-law giving your guests food poisoning with her unfortunate fish stew, hire experienced people to carry out those jobs which require the professional touch.

Because my venue is pretty all-inclusive, the food is totally taken care of (once we have our tasting). Our photog was another recommendation from a friend, and I hired a month-of coordinator to make sure everything falls into place.

6. Arrive early, but not too early

You want to get to the wedding on time, but the earlier you get there, the more stressed out you may be. Give yourself time to relax, spend time pampering yourself in the morning, and then arrive at the church at a reasonable time to take some pictures there before guests start arriving.

7. Go with the flow

This is your day, so enjoy it. If something does go wrong, don’t stress, and go with the flow. Chances are, nobody will see the issue you but you- if you’re not too busy to notice. You’re getting married to someone you love, and that is all that matters. So, if the best man knocks over the chocolate fountain, or your mother-in-law locks herself in the loo, keep smiling, and carry on regardless.

Planning a party is rarely a simple matter of logistics. Yes, you have to get all the right people in the right place, at roughly the same time. You know you need to provide them with a few pieces of food to nibble on, as well as a selection of drinks. If you’re going to go big on the decor, then that’s something you need to get ticked off as well.

The above are the basics, however. There’s no doubt you can have a successful party if you just do these things, but you’re also going to run into more than a few problems along the way. The true skill of effective party planning is found in anticipating problems, so when they do arise, you already have a solution in place.

Gold CHEERS Party Cups

So what kind of issues should you anticipate when it comes to planning your next big event?

The Dreaded Drinks Dearth

Few things will kill an atmosphere more effectively than running out of drinks – particularly alcohol – way before the time you’d thought the party would run to. While it’s conceivably possible that you could buy too much alcohol in the planning of a party, most of the time, more is going to be better. Make life easier for yourself by ordering alcohol online so you don’t have to worry about dragging multiple bottles of clanking bags from your car, as well as giving you the chance to get a variety to suit every palette. If you’ve anything left over at the end of the night, you are well stocked for gifts the next time someone’s birthday rolls around.

The Music Maladies

Finding the right music for a party is never going to be easy. Music is one of those things that everyone has an opinion on, but it’s also entirely subjective. What someone considers to be a stone-cold classic, someone else will turn their nose up at.

Thankfully, the internet has got you covered. There are numerous lists available online of songs that everyone knows and loves. While there will always be a few outliers among your guests, for the most part, a playlist of the all-time favorites is going to get the best results.

The Awkward Arguments

Unless your life is like a TV show and everyone already knows one another, then chances are any party you throw is going to involve bringing together a lot of strangers. They’re not strangers to you, of course – but they are to one another. Forgetting this fact can lead to awkward moments, as a group of people suddenly realize they don’t know how to talk to one another.

Worse still is when two people meet for the first time and it’s immediately obvious that they don’t get on. It happens; it’s not fun for anyone involved. That’s where your hosting skills are going to have to be top-notch. At the first sign that anyone is rubbing someone else up the wrong way, you have to be on the ball enough to interject and separate them from one another. A simple: “could you give me a hand in the kitchen?” is usually enough to make the point, and keep tempers well under control!

By following the ideas above, your party planning will go up another gear – and you’ll all have a lot more fun as a result.

Planning a girls weekend away, whether it’s for a hen do or just any excuse to get away and blow off some steam, is not always easy and it can sometimes feel like a little bit of a logistical headache. However planning for a great weekend, that everyone will enjoy without any hiccups along the way is all in the detail, so here is our essential survival kit to ensure a great time is had by all.

Overnight Bag Monogrammed Weekend Tote

It’s All In The Detail

Forward thinking and careful planning will mean that you are prepared for every eventuality on your trip away. If you are going to be doing a lot of city exploring on foot, or countryside trekking then make sure you are well prepared with maps and blister bandages. There’s nothing that brings the mood of a weekend down than sore feet, getting lost and essentially, moaning girls. So thinking ahead of all the little necessary details will make sure your group stay cheerful and positive.

It’s All In The Planning

Planning the weekend is also really important. Obviously you don’t want to have every hour of every day organized down to military precision but you should at least have a vague idea of what you all want to do when you arrive at your weekend getaway destination. Talk to all the girls in your group about what everyone fancies doing and then start thinking about how you can fit all those things into your weekend. If you are wanting to create an organised schedule make sure you always allocate sections of each day where nothing is organized so that there is always free time for people to go off and do whatever they want for a couple of hours here and there

Have a look at any interesting festivals, concerts and events that may be happening in the place that you’re going to, to see if there’s anything unique that you can go and see and get involved in. And don’t get discouraged if plans fail- I was at a bachelorette weekend when one girl lost her ID. Rather than sulk about having to change plans when we couldn’t go to a bar, we went out for a crab feast instead and had a BLAST.

Fighting Off Those Inevitable Hangovers

We’ve all been there. Getting a little overly excited on the first night and overdoing it. The rest of the weekend can then be a bit of a washout with the group feeling groggy, tired and hungover. There are however some tricks to avoid this, other than, well, not getting carried and drinking so much.

Firstly a Vitamin C, or effervescent tablet is a great morning booster for tired and sluggish girls, so popping a tube of these into your weekend bag is definitely a good idea. As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure, so why not pack a hangover recovery capsule solution to help fight off those dreaded hangover.

Hangover capsules work by neutralizing your body’s reaction to the major toxins in alcohol, by stimulated the production of the enzyme ADH and ALDH in your liver. Just popping one of these FDA approved capsules with your first alcoholic drink can radically reduce hangovers the next day, so are definitely worth considering adding to your packing list.
