We all have those days that just feel like the world is against you. Where nothing has gone right, you’ve been treated like dirt, or you’ve made mistake after mistake and just frustrated yourself to tears. These times can be the worst and can make you feel like it has set you up for a few miserable days (or years) to come.

But, it doesn’t have to. There are some really great techniques that you can do that can wipe the slate clean and make tomorrow a new day.

Vent

Whether you come home to someone, or you call them, get someone you love on the phone and just rant about the whole situation. You will get angry, and probably cry as you relive the day from hell, but the physical act of retelling the story rather than keeping it bottled up, and having someone on your side really does help to relieve some of the day’s tension. If you’re with your ventee, then go for a cuddle – as simple as it seems a cuddle can reduce your stress levels enormously. And if you need to cry then let it out and ugly cry – you’ll feel so much better once you’re done.

Distract

Now it’s time to stop thinking about it. Pick up your favorite book, turn on your current binge-worthy program, or lose yourself in the pages of the latest vogue. Whatever you love to do in your spare time, even if it’s something high-intensity like going for a run or doing an hour of yoga, then do it. Get involved and engross yourself in something that has nothing to do with the day you’ve just had. By getting out of your head for an hour, you allow your emotions to settle down, which will calm the adrenaline the anger and crying will have brought on.

Relax

Run a bath, or turn on the shower if you prefer, make it nice and hot and add the personal touch of your favorite bubble bath or salts. Stick on a chilled out playlist and soak your troubles away. Aromatherapy is seriously at play here, the scents and warm air relax the mind as the hot water relaxes those tight muscles. If you have been crying, place a warm, damp washcloth over your eyes to really freshen up the tightness around your eyes – it will help to reduce the redness too.

Sleep

Now is the best bit – climb into bed and sleep. Set your alarms and put your phone down – don’t check Facebook or Instagram or Pinterest, just put the screen down. Staring at a screen before you go to bed distracts the mind and tricks your eyes into thinking it’s time to work. So while you’re in such a relaxed state, just turn it off and slip into a nice deep slumber, and tomorrow really will feel like a new day.

Who doesn’t love a holiday? Whether you love to travel and visit unique destinations all around the world or if you prefer to have a relaxing weekend break with your family, there’s a wanderlusting holidaymaker in all of us. However, the number of holidays you take are probably a little low and you could do with a bit of extra pampering.

By the time Friday comes around, we’re exhausted, stressed, and so tired that the weekend is over before we know it, and it’s back to working in the office. Let’s melt that stress away and come back on Monday with a big grin on our faces by taking a weekend break. It doesn’t have to be somewhere far away and it doesn’t need to be expensive either!

See more of the city

Admit it, how much do you actually know about your city? There’s nothing wrong with not knowing much at all about the place you live in, but you might be surprised at what you find. There are many ways to explore your city, be it by land, air or even sea. For instance, why not consider yacht rentals to travel around the outskirts of your city? Maybe there are helicopter tours that you can indulge in, or perhaps you could simply travel to the other side of town and book a hotel for the night. You’ll get to experience the nightlife, sights and even meet new people.

Ticking off that bucket list

Everyone has a list of things they want to do before they retire, so why not start knocking those things out as soon as possible? It’s better to live a fulfilling life than one with regret. Even if you don’t have a bucket list, there’s no reason not to start one now so that you can slowly tick off the things you really want to accomplish or see in life.

It’s good for your health

Health experts will always tell you that taking a holiday can help with your health. With less to worry about, clean air to breathe and a bit of light activity such as walking around, your body will have a lot of time to recover from the stressful week you’ve had at work. Treating yourself to regular holidays can also help restore your energy and give your body time to catch up when you’re feeling a little drained from all the overtime you’ve been doing.

Give yourself something to look forward to

Working hard and having no light at the end of the tunnel can be daunting. Planning a holiday for the next week will help you get through a stressful work week and give you something fun to look forward to. Even if it’s just a simple break to the countryside, give yourself a reason to finish your work week and motivate you to power through your tasks.
