One of my favorite tops in high school was actually my mom’s Easter dress from when she was about the same age. It was a really light chiffon material with dainty red embroidery. I loved wearing it was a shredded denim micro-mini and my cowgirl boots. I was certainly finding my own style at the time, but it was cool to be wearing something that my mom also wore in high school.

Embroidery has been coming around in a big way. I actually fell in love with an embroidered utility jacket, but according to the size chart I’m like a large and that particular size is all gone so there we go. I’m especially loving the peasant-y dresses and floral shoes though! Such a pretty look for summer! (And the Betsey sneakers are a total dupe perfection move in case you don’t want to shell out the cash for the Gucci version!)

So March was… in like… something and out like probably the same thing (a mess) because the freaking weather has taken us all on such an emotional roller coaster. But April showers bring May flowers and now I’m giggling to myself because next April, Kendall and I will be celebrating our wedding at The Mayflower and how perfect is that? April is a special time of year for my family. My mom’s birthday is April 9th, as is my parents’ anniversary (celebrating 29 years this year WHATUP!) and my Uncle Jay and Aunt Jeanie happened to pick the same date for their own wedding 6 years later! Lots of love, lots to celebrate in April!

It’s also usually the first month of the year to really feel like spring! As much as I love getting into the winter cozies, I’m over it. Bring on the sunshine. And in that vein, I bring you my April wish list.

the carolove april wish list

  1. I’m kind of digging this Cupshe Melodic Blues One-piece Swimsuit. Has anyone ordered from Cupshe before? Thoughts?
  2. Last year, Target had this amazing straw tote with pompoms that I really wanted… until I got to the store and it was big enough I could have put a couple toddlers or a weeks worth of clothes in it. The Rainbow Pom Pom Tote from t+j is a much better size AND I love the colors!
  3. I found the Women’s Wildfox More Glitter Manchester Tee last Friday when I was super sad that our CFO was retiring. “More glitter, less bitter” is the best sad day mantra.
  4. I’m still determined to try rainbow highlighter, and at under $10, I won’t mind this little purchase once Lent is over!
  5. This is one of the cutest collabs I’ve seen! If you can’t pick just one color, the Clinique Crayola(TM) Chubby Lip Crayon Box is just the thing for you!
  6. I love my nude studded heels, but they’ve been about run into the ground. Yay for
Betseyville Naveah Gladiator Sandals and their under $50 price point!
  7. Not going to lie, part of the appeal of the Shashi Caroline Necklace is the name. But I also obviously love the style!
  8. I keep going back to these Rachelle Tassel Chandeliers from Stella & Dot.
  9. Kendall + I kind of want to have a vintage picnic themed engagement photo shoot, but for a real picnic, the ban.do Watermelon Super Chill Cooler Bag is the cutest!
  10. Yes, I’m obsessed with going to Mission for margs with my girls. The Margaritas With My Senoritas Crewneck from Tees And Tank You seems appropriate.
  11. We’ve burned through almost all of the Christmas clearance candles I stockpiled, but it’s time for fresher scents anyway! Bring on the Mimosa Kiki&Me Tumbler Candle!
  12. Stripes. Always stripes. But it doesn’t hurt to have an unexpected detail like this Women’s J.crew Ruffle Sleeve Top.
  13. Candace and I never had jellies because my mom was smart and knew they were painful, sweaty, and not great for your feet. I got the adult version for a music festival a few years ago, and quickly learned that for myself. But the Kate Spade New York Fanley T-Strap Sandal seem like a great, slightly more grown up, option.
  14. Mint is a tricky color for me, but once I have a tan, here I come for this Pintucked Swing Blouse.

You can imagine my shock and disgust at myself when, as soon as the weather started warming up, I discovered that neither one of my seersucker dresses fit. #WompWomp But mama D to the rescue! She found this little number while on vacation and it magically fit perfectly. I love the scallop and captains wheel details. I also love that my job is pretty loose with the dress code, so I can pull off the look on a Tuesday as easily as I can on a Sunday.

Of course nothing compliments seersucker like a monogram or 2. And nothing goes with navy like a couple shades of pink. What was especially great was the fact this look carried me from work to drinks on my friend’s deck that afternoon and there was nothing stuffy about it.

I’m just going to own the fact that my toes were doing something really weird

In one year, I was in 4 weddings, attended two more, and was invited to one that I couldn’t go to because it was the same weekend of one I was in, so I know a thing or two about being a wedding guest. I have another wedding coming up in December, and while I won’t be able to make it to the shower, I of course want to send the gift. The bride-to-be is one of my best friends from college and her fiance is in the fraternity where I was Sweetheart and she was lettered. I’ve been thinking about things that my brides over the past year have loved and found that they’ve needed, so I’ve come up with a little list of gift ideas for brides. You can always default their registry, if need be, but I LOVE giving surprises, especially if I can get them personalized. If you’re still at a loss, Kate Spade’s entire wedding collection is on point. I usually try to do something from the registry for the shower, and something personal for the wedding, or visa versa. That way, the couple gets something they need and a total surprise!

A note about some of my picks: One my my bridal besties got herself a ring box like the one I have below. Another one wants one. Basically, it’s something that you don’t realize you need until you have those very special pieces of jewelry, especially if you’re traveling. The cookbook I have below is actually inspired by a gift I gave- a Texas bride married a Yankee chef, so I sent them a traditional southern cookbook to bring them together. I was at a loss of what to get them for a long time and I found that and it hit me. It got to them late, but less than 6 months out from the date of their wedding, which is permissible, etiquette-wise. (I looked this up- after a year, you can still send a wedding gift, just call it something else!)
