One of the biggest draws of the summer season is the fact you get to be outdoors and get stuck into nature. You get to book some vacation time and visit different areas of the country that are different from the places you see all the time. The best bit? The shopping! Being able to breeze around your favorite stores to pack for a different country, different scenery and different terrains is just part of the fun.

There are plenty of things you need to remember about your vacation shopping trip. You don’t just have to pack your t-shirts and dresses, but your accessories! Accessories and swimwear make up the bulk of a vacation shopping trip as these are things that will be different. You can use skirts and dresses at any point without going too far away from home, but vacation time means you are going exploring! You have the opportunity to sink your toes into the sand of white sugar beaches. You get to climb the nearest mountain on adventure hikes and explore the deepest areas of a rain forest. The world truly is your oyster and it’s only right you get to dress appropriately for it!

Pom pom sandals

When you take yourself vacation shopping, you need to shop to your destination. If you are heading somewhere that requires adventurous clothing for climbing, then checking out a shoe guide to understand exactly what you will need for outerwear is important. If you are headed to the beach then you’ll need to check out this guide on kaftans! Your clothes are going to really matter when it comes to going away on vacations and you should be open to suggestion. Heading somewhere hot and full of sunshine means scouring the best sunglasses, hats and wraparound sundresses. Dressing to impress yourself and feel confident in your own skin can have you walking on sunshine; even if you’re going skiing.

From head to toe, your holiday wardrobe should make you feel good about yourself. Be smart with what you buy, though. There’s no point in heading out for winter sun on a snowy slope but packing bikinis. Always shop for the climate and be smart about the shoes that you buy as well. Your footwear will go a long way to dictating your comfort level in the same way the thickness of a jacket does. Comfort is key on vacation. The whole idea is to relax, unwind and de-stress and if you can do those things simply by shopping right, you’re winning at vacationing!

The night before you go away, make sure you pack well for the plane. Include pressure socks or warm socks in your carry-on. They may not be the most attractive, but they will be practical. Part of vacation clothes shopping is practicality and you should plan well for your entire trip, including the part where you are on your way and on the way home. Choose and pack well and make sure that you absolutely rock whatever outfit you choose that day!

Accessories are important and everyone knows it. A simple outfit of jeans and a t-shirt is instantly jazzed with the addition of certain sparkly accessories or a splash of color. A gorgeous ballgown gets its pop from the accessories that enhance it. Everyone needs accessories in their life, whatever gender or age they are.

Gold Crystal Three Layer Deco Necklace

Accessories cover a lot of different categories, including handbags, jewelry, shoes and scarves. You can really be spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing accessories for your outfit. What you choose will vary depending on the outfit and occasion, of course, but accessories will still play an important part of your outfit choices. If there is one thing you will notice about highly fashionable women, it’s that they are not fashionable without the right accessories. The greatest style is in the details and while you can buy fantastic clothes online from here, you can also buy accessories to complement the outfit you have chosen. You can look like you’re a highly fashionable person if you have the right decoration and that is exactly what accessories are for. They decorate your outfit and they also make you feel great. Those earrings you love so much won’t just make your outfit look more sophisticated, they’ll draw attention to the color of your hair, the softness of your eyes. Accessories can change how people see you, right down to the type of shoes you wear on your feet. This makes them powerful.

One thing that is important to remember is that you have to make good choices when you accessorize. The shapes, colors and even the silhouette of the accessories you use will change over time. The accessories that you may have found in the Twenties will differ vastly from those that came in over the Swinging Sixties era. The best thing about the accessories you choose? You don’t have to stick to one era. A flapper’s dress with a beaded drop waist like this one, will always look amazing with long beaded necklaces in silver and jet. These aren’t just limited to the 1920s era, as long beaded necklaces pop in and out of fashion. The colours of 2017, for example, are bright yellows, fuchsia and tropical green. These may look a fright on a pair of trousers or a jacket, but emerald necklaces or chunky yellow and pink bangles would look far more fashionable without making your outfit too loud. Taking the time to go for a shopping trip and investing some money into funky, updated accessories isn’t just fun – it’s trendy and in season.

Straw Pom Pom & Tassel Tote

The handbag you choose has to be practical for what you need it for, but you also need to make sure that it goes with what you’re wearing. A bag isn’t just something to hold your purse and phone, it’s going to complete your overall look. You should ensure that you have more than one handbag in the wardrobe. A classic black bag like this is perfect for the office during the week, but you should definitely have something more fun and bright for the weekend. Don’t just settle for one handbag, either. Have a small clutch to match those formal dresses lurking in the back of the wardrobe for weddings. You could even have a different, chic clutch bag to make a simple jeans and plain white tee look fabulous.

The Things I’ve Seed Flat

Shoes are absolutely necessary for your wardrobe. Sneakers for the gym and for outdoor running. Ballet flats for casual outfits. Pumps for your work wardrobe and skyscraper Louboutin’s to make those skinny jeans look endless. The shoes you wear don’t just change up your outfit, they can make you feel fantastic. The confidence that comes with knowing your outfit looks amazing and you feel great wearing those brand-new heels is something that isn’t usually replicated elsewhere. The best thing about shoes, is that you can find the with studs, zips, buttons, laces and even jewels. They’re so versatile that accessorizing your outfit with gorgeous shoes is just an essential!

Faux Pearl Embellished Pinstriped Twilly Scarf

It’s the wintertime that sees the scarves, hats and gloves come out for most people. But scarves are never out of season and they’re for everyone. Jazzing up your outfit with a scarf from Hermes, like this one, is one way to make a simple casual outfit look far more chic. Loop the scarf through the belt holes on your jeans, or tie around the neck, or for something truly different, transform your scarf into a funky bracelet. Check out these ways you can wear scarves to make your whole outfit look different.

Gemstone Embellished Star And Moon Shaped Earrings

The best accessory for your outfits will always be jewelry. You don’t have to buy into 9-carat gold rings and earrings, especially when some of the most beautiful accessory pieces are costume jewelry pieces. Chunky, statement necklaces and charm bracelets that can be color matched to your outfit are very in right now. You can make an outfit look particularly classy with fine jewelry like pearls or delicate silver earrings, but never dismiss costume jewelry.

All in all, your whole outfit and demeanor can depend on the accessories that you choose. Dressing up a work outfit will be different from a casual outfit, but you can easily make it work. You may need a few shopping trips to make your accessories vary by color and outfit, but no one is going to turn the opportunity to shop down, are they?

TGIF

Happy beginning of a long weekend. Goodbye to this week and hello to drinks with one of my bridesmaids tonight, a cathartic apartment clean tomorrow morning, and then back to Laytonsville again because I don’t like to be at the apartment by myself and I just need my parents right now. In the meantime, I’m so so so lucky to have such an amazing girl gang that has let me rant and rage this week. I miss my honey and ooooooh what I time it is for him to be away. womp womp

Patriotic Wreath

Yes, it’s a long weekend. But I hope you all recognize why we’re celebrating Memorial Day- to honor the fallen that lost their lives fighting for this country. This post been pinned to my twitter all week, but Lindsay said it best. I’ve mentioned this before, but my fiance is National Guard and just seeing him in his uniform makes me tear up. Although he’s not technically deployed he’s giving up time with his loved ones for a training right now. He, and all of our men and women of service, deserve our respect.

I also feel compelled to address the horrible attack in Manchester this week. The silver lining is seeing people do good in the face of tragedy. Ariana Grande is reportedly paying for the victims’ funerals. There are a few ways to help in your own way, but as citizens of the United States, the best way is to donate monetarily to help the families of victims.

This week on The CaroLøve

Stella & Dot has some great events going on currently:

Have you seen the Summer Optical Collection at Warby Parker? Try it yourself  with the Home Try On program!

Enjoy $40 off orders $200+ with coupon code HFS40 at SheIn.com! Ends 5/29

I’ll be honest- didn’t have a great week. Kind of weird stuff going on that I can’t really get into. So I did by those shoes I will pretend are flats all summer.

Don’t let the rain get ya down- we have enough going on right now for that. Have a great weekend with your friends and family, or productive downtime on your own!

When summer is on the way, it’s the perfect time to gather your girlfriends and go on a shopping spree. After all, the weather is hotting up and trips to the beach or weekends away in the sun are likely to be on the cards, and you’ll want to ensure that you have lots of cute outfits to see you through the season.

A lot of ladies worry about their summer wardrobes, not really sure what they should be buying to look and feel their best when the weather is warmer, but it’s actually pretty easy to get it right, providing you know the following:

Buy Larger Shoes

It might sound odd, but one thing that women who are used to hot weather can all agree on is that you need to buy shoes that are at least half a size bigger than you would usually wear if you plan to wear them a lot in the summer. This is important because the summer heat causes feet to swell, and if your shoes are a perfect fit, there’ll be no room to accommodate this, causing nasty blisters and sores when you should be enjoying yourself.

Stick to Natural Fabrics

If you want to avoid looking and feeling like a hot, sweaty mess, then you really need to stick to natural fabrics like cotton and linen, avoiding poly-blends and synthetic materials, when shopping for your summer wardrobe. I know synthetic fast-fashion items are more affordable, but for the most part, they just aren’t breathable, and with a few exceptions, like Anthony’s chic resort dresses and sundresses, they will make you feel more uncomfortable at the height of summer’s heat. So, you may have to just suck it up and buy fewer pieces of higher-quality if you want to feel fresh and comfy and look fabulous this summer season.

Loosen Up

Another way to stay cool and keep yourself from getting too hot and sweaty is to choose looser garments. If you’re wearing a dress that is long and flowing and which keeps most of the material off your body, you’re obviously going to sweat less than you would if you had lots of fabric clinging to your body. So, keep those form-fitting dresses for the evening when it’s a bit cooler and go for loose, natural clothing during the day.

Customizable sunhats

Always Have a Hat and Scarf on Hand

When it comes to accessories, in the summer less is more because the more jewellery and clothing embellishments you have close to your skin, the hotter you will get, but you should always make an effort to carry a cute wide-brimmed hat and light chiffon scarf around with you. That way, when it gets too hot, you can out on the hat, or if you feel like you need more coverage, you can drape a scarf over your shoulders, and you will look even more fantastic.

Choose Light Colors

Summer is the perfect season to wear whites and pastel colors. Not only do they fit the season perfectly, but they also reflect the heat rather than absorbing it, helping you to feel cooler and fresher.

What are your top tips for staying cool and looking great in the summer?

There are many ways to impress prospective employers at a job interview, but it’s first impressions that make the biggest impact. When you first walk in the door, you want to look the part for the job you’re interviewing for. The right outfit will be a notch more professional than how you usually dress, but it won’t be as glamorous as what you would wear to stand out at a party

Set of 5 pens

Additionally, wearing the right outfit can boost your confidence, which you will need in abundance when you’re sitting in a big office and answering questions about your capabilities. Here are a few suggestions to create the look of a successful businesswoman.

Suits

You have the option of either a trouser or skirt suit, whichever you feel most comfortable wearing. The general rule with the hemlines of a skirt is that there should be no more than four fingers above the knee, but opt for a knee-length skirt just to be safe.

Dress in neutral colors, such as navy blue, brown, or a light grey in the summer. Of course, you can never go wrong with a clean black suit. Your blouse should also be fairly modest, and it can be a crisp white, or a pale pastel color.

Alternatively, you can opt for a professional dress, but make sure it fits comfortably and it isn’t showing too much cleavage. If it pinches too much at the waist, you won’t feel comfortable and this will affect your performance.

Jacket

Most suits come with a matching jacket, which you must make sure fits you properly. You won’t be able to sit comfortably in an interview if it’s too tight at the back. However, if you’ve opted to wear a smart dress that doesn’t have a matching jacket, you should be sure to wear one anyway, as it does look more professional.

Handbag

You probably have an image in your head of a successful businesswoman carrying various iconic handbags as she goes about her business. While it is true that the right handbag is essential for carrying important documents (in this case, your resume and portfolio), an interview is not the best time to show off the crown jewel of your handbag collection. Opt for a simple black handbag that is big enough to carry your essential documents without creasing them. If you have one, your best option is a briefcase.

Shoes

An interview is also not the best time to show off how well you can walk in 9-inch heels. Keep your shoes fairly basic, and no more than 3-inches high. You’ll make a better impression on your interviewer if you don’t stumble your way into their office or wince in pain because your shoes are too tight.

Miscellaneous

Avoid hair accessories, and keep your jewellery to a minimum; maybe a simple necklace, a watch, and a ring. You should also aim for a professional-looking hairstyle, but nothing too complicated, such as a bun, ponytail, or natural waves.
