Summer might be over but that doesn’t mean yours has to be. The sun is always shining somewhere in the world. And if you’re such a beauty and fashion addict that you’ve not had your fill of summery styles just yet then it looks like it might be time for you to jet off to somewhere in the world where the sun is still shining. Of course, before you head off anywhere, you need to plan out your “beach look”.

Nailing beauty and fashion is something anybody can do. It doesn’t matter what shape or size you are; fashion is all about accentuating your positive features, and you need to have the confidence you do that. If you’ve no idea where to begin with packing an entire summer wardrobe for your personal break then here are some tips to help you slay on your beach vacay.

Seven Seas Mermaid Hair Beach Spray

Your hair

First of all, a beach break is a time for daring hairstyles. Warm weather means there’s no need for wooly hats to cover up your luscious locks; let that hair reign free! Above all else, you need to strive to keep your hair healthy. Remember that heat and exposure to sunshine are both changes that will have an effect on your hair. The salt in the sea water and the effect of the sun’s rays will both damage your hair, so it’s best not to do your roots or anything too crazy before your vacation (it’ll need enough care and attention afterwards).

The key to achieving a stunning yet natural summer look with regards to your actual hairstyle, of course, is to get your hair out of your face so as to catch the sun; the classic pinned-back look with some beachy waves could look perfect. And so could the classic slicked back “wet look”. You’ll be heading into the sea anyway, so you might as well start as you mean to go on, right?

Makeup Bag

Your face

Let’s talk about the aspect of the body that gives you the most grief: your skin. Don’t worry – you’re not alone in this endless struggle. We’ve all been in that position of seeing a brand new spot pop up just before we leave the house. Of course, that’s no good when you’re about to head on a beach vacation. You want to be showing off as much of your skin as possible to get a great tan. Whilst the sun will definitely help your skin by providing vitamin D and generally giving it a healthy glow, there’s a lot you can do to keep your face and body, as a whole, looking healthy. Whilst you should definitely have fun with different makeup looks (it’s your vacation, after all), you shouldn’t go overboard if you want your face to feel fresh and really enjoy all the effects of the sunshine. Give yourself a little break from wearing makeup now and again and keep yourself well hydrated (good general advice for warm countries) so as to keep your skin healthy and blemish-free.

In terms of keeping your face looking fashionable, you could look into light summery hats to wear; it all depends on your hairstyle, of course, but hats are definitely in right now. And in terms of eyewear, you could look into discount designer sunglasses to get that sleek and stylish summer look without breaking the bank. The point is that fashion doesn’t end once you get higher than the neck; have some fun accessorizing yourself.

Cupshe Rose Thorn Print Bikini Set

Your swimwear

Speaking of accessorizing, let’s get to one of the most fun parts of preparing your look for this beach vacation: your swimwear. A good rule of thumb is to bring one bikini for every day you’ll spend at your destination. You’ll be wearing bikinis for the majority of your time anyway, given that you’ll be in such a hot climate, so you might as well take this chance to really expand on your wardrobe. You could match your bikinis with light “cover-ups” just to add a bit of variety to your outfits and to provide yourself a warmer option for the later and breezier parts of the day.

Your packing technique

As a final piece of advice, make sure you’re very organized throughout the packing process. If you want to slay on your beach vacay then you don’t want to forget any essentials and you definitely don’t want to find that all your cute outfits are crumpled or smell like an old suitcase once you get to your destination. You could throw some dryer sheets into the case so as to ensure your clothes all come out smelling like roses and your summer outfits aren’t ruined by foul odors emanating from them.

One of the best parts of Bubbles & Bloggers is the fact that we support our own bosses in their entrepreneurial endeavors. A couple weekends ago, we had a Shop The City meetup to check out and support a relatively new business venture by our friend and member Sahra. It’s exactly how what it sounds like- a shopping tour of some amazing local spots. I won’t spoil it for you- go on the tour and see it for yourself! We started on 14th Street, hitting up some spots I’ve heard up but had never been to, which was pretty awesome. After a brief(ish) stop to take pictures in front of the totes-appropes WORK IT GURL mural (where I quick-changed into my new rose gold skirt in the parking lot), we hopped in our own private bus and headed to Georgetown. We saw a few boutiques there before a massive storm hit and we ran to the Graham for Amanda’s Whistle & Wild popup and Marisa’s mini styling session.

Really late in the game, Dani thought it might be fun to pop a Sex and the City theme on our day. B&B usually themes our events, and this theme made a lot of sense for a day of shopping with lady-friends. I’m not sure if I totally nailed it, but Dani said I was a Carrie Diaries version of Carrie Bradshaw. I’ll take it! What do you think?

Yes, I got this skirt while shopping.

Y’all. July was a month if there ever was one. I resigned from my position at the firm to start a new chapter (next week) and have jumped a few personal hurdles- one of which I think will be coming to the blog soon if I’m brave enough. I’ve been terrible about working out, which I’m feeling and need to get back to that. Working 12 hour days to prepare myself and the firm for my departure was not conducive to working out or really healthy in any way.

Kendall has started traveling for work, which he loves, so I love. I’ve been experimenting in the kitchen more and cooked shrimp for the first time in my life.

Life happens and it keeps moving- that’s kind of the theme for me right now. I’m taking this week off between jobs and I couldn’t be happier to catch my breath. I’m currently blogging from my parents’ basement while my dad cooks a steak. I’m waiting for a call from my wedding DJ. I’m relaxed and I’m happy.

Here’s what I’m craving this month:

I’ve been eyeing the Steve Madden Dainna-L in leopard as the most perfect heel for fall. It has that chic pointy toe and the block heel I require.

There are a ton of Betsey Johnson work appropriate dresses included in the #NSale, but I’m digging the short sleeves and applique on this Fit & Flare Dress.

Speaking of applique, I’m not sure why but I am seriously loving destroyed and appliqued sweaters like the emory park Embroidered Rose Distressed Sweater.

Summer may be starting to wind down, but my Maryland self would use this Don’t Be Shellfish Tote Tote always.  And I mean really I need another purse like I need a hole in the head but I can’t get over this Ted Baker London Blossom Leather Tote. Got the MD vibes with the crab, DC vibes with the blossoms.

Also from my post yesterday, I love love love love the Banana Republic Embellished Sheath Dress.

I have an adorable Miss to Mrs. tumbler that I use always, but how cute is this I’m Getting Meowied Mug? It’s my time to enjoy this stuff right?

I have somehow scratched both pairs pink cat-eye sunnies I got this spring, and these 46mm Round Cat Eye Sunglasses are under $15 so…

My Macbook case has been through the wringer and is now cracked. Upgrade to this super gorgeous Hard Case Macbook Pro Case or nah?

I have been looking for a perfect rose gold nail polish. Oh hey Kendra Scott with your Rose Gold Metallic Nail Lacquer.

Treasure & Bond High Waist Crop Jeans fit my personal jeans requirement perfectly- high-waisted, cropped, and distressed.

I have yet to find espadrilles that I love and that also feel good on my feet- but Platform Sandals? I could try that!

What are your August plans and wishes? Let me know in the comments!

I sometimes think of my blog as a paper doll or a mood board. It’s a place for my to put together looks that I may not ever wear IRL and that’s ok. Finding inspiration from other bloggers, or even one element of an outfit online can spark a whole look for me. This is one of those looks.

I have said multiple times that dressing for work is hard for me in the summer. I’m just kind of hot and miserable. Kristyn posted this Embellished Sheath Dress on Instagram a couple weeks ago and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. I haven’t pulled the trigger on it because I haven’t decided about shopping for new work clothes before I start my new job, but it’s definitely on my wish list!

A dress like that doesn’t really need a necklace because of the embellishments, but I think the Piña Studs compliment the beading on the dress perfectly.

The bags I use for day-to-day need to be big enough for my planner, my wallet, phone, ipod, headphones, and “social pouchy” (the silly name by bestie and I call the pouches we move from purse to purse that’s pre-packed with essentials like mini-brushes and perfume samples). The Ted Baker London Blossom Leather Tote fits the bill AND it has cherry blossoms on it’ so this DC girl approves.

I’m kind of a little booboo b*tch when it comes to wearing heels. Just not a fan and I complain about my feet hurting and it’s bad time for everyone involved. The exception comes in two forms: a low, block heel, or a sweet pair of espadrilles like these Caterina Scalloped Cutout Suede Wedge Espadrilles.

It’s cooling down a bit (for now) but aside from that, offices are always chilly. I always keep a cardigan or a scarf like the Badgley Mischka Ocelot Jacquard Wrap at my desk. And don’t forget a great pair of sunnies like these Round Cat Eye Sunglasses, which have 100% UV protection.

Have you ever seen a piece that inspired a whole look?

Last weekend, Bubbles & Bloggers had our July meetup- a shopping tour with Shop The City (more on that in a later post) that ended with the last Whistle & Wild popup before founder Amanda scoots down to Texas in a move that has been a long time coming. While I’m sad to see my friend go, I am SO excited for her journey. You may remember this, but Sarah and I modeled her clothes to help launch Whistle & Wild back late last summer, and the following of Amanda’s online boutique has grown exponentially and nation-wide. There is no question that Amanda is one bad boss and she’ll do great things!

This popup had a little somethin’somethin’ extra though! Marisa was there to help style summer Whistle & Wild pieces for fall. I was so inspired that I wanted to share with my readers some of the great ideas Marisa gave to help transition their own wardrobes. The best part is that I found the pieces I was missing at the #NSale and can share those with you too! These are just a couple of pieces we looked at to move from summer into fall. Make sure you check out everything Whistle & Wild has to offer!

Although the booties that Marisa showed us with this outfit had a little more of a heel, I love love love the perforated look on this Tom’s booties. Put those toes away once the temps drop, ad some sleeves to the slip dress with soft cotton underneath, and add burgundy to the blush to make a great fall outfit!

Whistle & Wild Gabi Slip Dress||Long Sleeve Scoop Neck Cotton Tee||Deia Block Heel Bootie||Angleflip Pendant Necklace MADEWELL||Sole Society Glenn Faux Leather Tote

“Gingham is summer through and through.” This is a gingham rule that I’ve already talked about breaking myself. While Marisa said that leather is still a bit much for early fall, olive utility/ military style jackets are universally flattering. Add a riding boot with a low heel for just a little bit of height. I actually got these exact boots for myself after hearing how long my legs looked with just a bit of heel. At the risk of looking too matchy matchy, I kind of love it with the blue bag too! And I think the boots make it a day or night outfit.

How do you transition your summer clothes to fall?
