Millennials do a lot of stupid crap. I would know- I am one. Being a blogger AND a millennial I’m probably extra annoying. I like documenting what I’m doing and what I love and thinking that people will actually care about it. While I don’t use the word influencer to describe myself and would never stand on a chair at a restaurant to ‘gram my food (I have VERY strong opinions on this) I’m just as guilty as the next kiddo born between 1982-2004 of being self-involved.

But we’re not all bad. We grew up with technology- as in it grew with us- and we keep finding fascinating new ways to use it. We want to be better and make the world better. While Snapchat certainly isn’t going to solve any world issues, our involvement in social media means we can share ideas at the speed of thought. That’s pretty cool, if you ask me. And being a generation who grew up hearing we’re special and can do anything we put our mind to- of course we would have our own freakin’ color that is ridiculously hard to describe.

I actually had to Google Millenial Pink to figure out how to actually tell you about it:

It’s sort of a grapefruit shade of apricotty salmon. The Gardian

In general, Millennial Pink is a soft pink with some gray tones to add subtlety and sophistication, and a slight hint of peach, making it a warmer and rosier pink and less a magenta-pink.houzz

The answer, I think, is that millennial pink isn’t so much a color as it is an idea — hence the great difficulty in pinning it down to a single shade. Millennial pink, whether pale or desaturated or salmon-y, is a kind of non-pink pink, an aesthetic distillation of the ideals of contemporary feminism: unabashedly female, but removed from the constraining associations of the past. It is, in a lot of ways, defined more by what it isn’t than what it is: not Barbie. Not bubble gum. Not princessy.Apartment Therapy

I use it a little interchangeably with blush and rose gold myself.

As I’m writing this post, within eyeshot (I wasn’t sure if that’s a word but spellcheck is not rejecting it), I am wearing a millennial pink sweater, my phone case is partially millennial pink, and my wristlet with work FOB and important cards is glitter on one side and millennial pink on the other. I know what I like. Also, creepy, I just opened Facebook on my phone and the first ad that pops up is for this bag set from Away only the ad didn’t call it blush. The ad called it millennial pink.

Anyway, I found a millennial pink list on Amazon and wanted to create my own. What do you think of this color?

I learned many lessons while working in retail such including but not limited to:

  • Whatever you’re looking for is probably not in the back
  • Store closings are not just a free-for-all but can be very sad
  • You truly can’t please everyone
  • The customer does think they’re always right even if they are really, really not
  • There is really very little reason to buy anything full price

I honestly didn’t even realize it before I worked at Pier One but there is a) always some kind of sale or clearance and b) a good chance that the piece you love is going to hit it eventually. The only circumstance where this might not be the case is holiday specific items. We had people furious at us that we ran out of special edition ornaments by Christmas Eve but what are ya gonna do?

As far as clothes, I rarely, if ever, buy clothes full price. I stalk and I wait to catch my prey. If I miss it, I just means I don’t need it anyway! I haven’t been buying clothes much at all, to be honest but I might consider a little Nordstrom splurge for their fall sale. I’m definitely taking a peek for Christmas shopping, but I want to share the pieces I love for me.

There’s a little nip in the air- actually, it may not even be a nip it’s just not HAWT. This means that my least favorite time of the year is winding down. I had a pumpkin spice bagel yesterday. Fall is coming. But it’s not quite here yet.

Last night, Bubbles & Bloggers had their August meet up at the Embassy Row Hotel with special guests from  StyleMeBar. We try to pick out a theme for our events, and this month is was “come wearing your favorite summer outfit.” Kind of perfect for the last B&B bash of the summer.

My outfit was one that has been on repeat since June. The dress, which I also have in pink, is a style I wasn’t sure would work on me but I LOVE. I can’t do off the shoulder, but a cold shoulder has been my sassy go-to way to wear the trend. I just have to pop on a great Stella & Dot necklace and the softest loafers (an excellent TJ Maxx find) and I have an outfit in 3 easy steps. I’ve also been carrying around this sweet bag from The Kate Spade at Clarksburg Premium Outlets. You might have noticed it in my engagement pictures– but it makes for a great tote while I’m lugging my life around DC.

I find that I really love a statement necklace to jazz up pretty much any outfit that I wear. Since this dress is solid, I usually grab my York Necklace to add some color and texture to it. And it is absolutely zero secret that I adore Stella & Dot. I still need to spend my reward bucks from the online style session I hosted, but I’m glad I waited becauuuuuse Stella & Dot is offering 25% OFF sale items, which means you can save up to 50% on your favorite pieces! This sale is on now and will expire on Wednesday, 9/6.

Sometimes I see outfits on my friends and immediately wish they were on me. My girl Amanda of Whistle & Wild looked absolutely adorable at a casual friends meet-up a couple of weeks ago, and I thought I’d take a stab at recreating the look of this outfit with different pieces (and maybe without the hat because my moon face looks even rounder in hats like that.) I love her graphic tee tied into a crop with the maxi skirt + statement necklace, but then I flew off the handle with the accessories I chose. As a shorty, I have to pair maxi anything with heels or  wedges, and the more rose gold the better, in my opinion.

This kind of look is so fun for summer brunch or rooftop drinks. While we were all about the red, white, and blue for Red White and Fuego at Mission, I would wear this for margaritas with my señoritas any day. Clearly I’m into bright colors + playful prints, and now that I don’t have my sorority advisor telling me to “take one accessory off before you leave the house,” I have thrown that advice completely out the window.

I really don’t like National Whatever Days… until one comes up that I can get behind. Today, apparently, is National Sunglasses Day. I have been a sunglasses junkie since middle school, but I’ve recently become way more conscious of health and maintenance for my body so I only wear sunnies with UV protection. According to the Vision Council, 75% of Americans are concerned about UV exposure, but only 31% wear sunglasses every time they go outside. Honestly, seeing those numbers, I just think for shame! I think that both of those numbers should be 100%.

While, yes, it is important to take care of your eyes on National Sunglasses Day and every day, you don’t need to break the bank protecting those peepers. Sunglass Warehouse is the best place to start looking for shades to suit you.

  • All of their sunglasses come with UV400 lenses, so you can protect your eyes and look good doing it.
  • Until the 30th, you can use the code SUNGLASS20 for 20% off site wide at Sunglass Warehouse
  • Order before 2pm Monday-Friday EDT and they’ll get your new sunglasses in the mail that same day.
  • From aviators to sports styles, they’ve got hundreds of sunglasses priced at $20 or less.
  • If you’re not 100% satisfied with your purchase, they’ll give you a full refund.

How fab is all that? They really do have hundreds of styles for men and women, but I picked out just a few of my faves to share + get you started.
