As we settle into fall and winter quickly approaches over the horizon (you know we’ll be complaining about the cold in no time), there’s a mixed feeling of happiness and loss. The colder months bring cozy sweaters, rich colors and hot chocolate with all the trimmings. But we leave behind the sun and heat of summer. For those of you who live in a warm state year-round, you probably don’t feel the same. But it is sad having to say goodbye to summer, packing away all your cute shorts and crops and saying goodbye to any open shoes for the next six months.

There are ways to keep summer alive through the colder months without looking weird in your sandals in the snow.

the carolove Summer Love In The Winter

Salt Life Print

Clothes

With Vogue promoting shorts and knee-highs as one of the trends for this season, you can keep on wearing yours through the winter. They are also saying that printed and woolen tights are back – so keep out your skirts and pair them up with a more seasonally-appropriate under garment. You’re going to want to trade in your slip-ons for boots soon, but that can be really effective when paired with your summer ankle-dusters. And, as it has been all this year, it’s all about the layers. Don’t discount your crop is you can layer on a shirt, scarf, and jacket to go with it.

Hair

Waves are still cute in the winter, so don’t store your salt-spray just yet. The fashion trends might be calling for ponytails and messy buns, but those hair styles aren’t going to keep your ears warm, nor will they accommodate a hat. Beach waves are a year-round style. As is pastel hair and mermaid dyes. Winter is also a great time for you to care for your hair after the heat and sun damage it will have had over the summer.

Makeup

In the summer, we tend to go lighter on the makeup, and darker in the winter. But you do you. If you want peach tones instead of burgundy, then apply them. And the festival glitter that has rocked the nation this summer? What time of year is better for extra glitter than Christmas? Amp up the glitter if you want to. Do think, however, that with the loss of a natural tan, you may need to swap out your foundation and contour kit for a lighter shade.

Tans

Who said a tan is a summer thing? Luckily that golden glow is achievable year round and completely accepted by everyone. You may want to tone it down a little, but you can still look sun-kissed in the snow. There are many options, from self-tanning to spray-tans and sunbeds. Obviously, you need to take care of your skin, so if you opt for the sunbed option, use sunscreen, and don’t believe those people who say you can’t get a tan while wearing SPF – if you need more convincing, ask the expert: can you still get a tan while wearing SPF? Some of the best tans over winter are gradual ones, pick up a gradual bronzing moisturizer and use it a couple of times a week, or as little as you need to get the color you want. You can probably pick them up cheaper now than you could in the summer too.

Mid-season Sun

If you’re craving beaches and sunshine, why not book a weekend getaway to somewhere hot? You can take a road trip to the south, or fly out to anywhere south of the equator. Airbnb has some amazing winter getaway deals. Try the canary islands for a beach holiday, Miami for a city break, or Australia for a little bit of everything.

Food and Drink

For some reason, a lot of food is dictated to being ‘winter’ or ‘summer’ food. Like hearty pies in the cold, and BBQs in the heat. The fact that lighting the BBQ in the frost doesn’t appeal to anyone shouldn’t stop you having a BBQ-esque party inside. The same goes for tapas and sushi, which are other dishes more common in the summer. If you want to enjoy sake nigiri in your sweater and fluffy socks, then do.

The same thing applies to cocktails – you don’t have to trade them in for whiskey and baileys just because the temperature dropped. If you want a cosmo, then you have a cosmo. But if you want to try a warmer cocktail and combine the winter and summer then why not try a winter cocktail.

House

The house tends to get more decorated in the fall and winter do to Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. But there is a gap between summer and Halloween when you’re trying to keep the summer going a little longer. There are a few things you can do to achieve that. One of them is a sunlamp. A sunlamp can be used on its own or as an alarm clock, it replicates the dawn and wakes you up gradually without disturbing your REM sleep. Depending on when you get up in the morning will depend on whether it’s still dark outside – but with the winter solstice quickly approaching, the nights are getting longer. The sunlamp helps you keep the morning sun year round. They also help to combat SAD (seasonal affective disorder) which is where a person can become depressed due to a lack of vitamin D.

You can also introduce some houseplants to your home, keeping the place green throughout the year. Most plants will naturally die off in autumn, but things like succulent grasses will stay the same all year. You can also use winter blooms to replace the summer plants.

Garden

The replacement of plants applies in the garden too, but rather than ripping things up by the roots, try and mix up the summer and winter bulbs and seeds, that way your garden will always be in bloom with minimal effort. You can keep using your garden in the winter too – obviously, when it snows it’s the perfect place for snowman and snowball fights. And the longer nights give your fireworks a perfect backdrop. But to keep the heat, install some outdoor heaters around your seating area, you may need a blanket or two, but you can still enjoy the night outside. And during the day, your garden needs just as much care as in the summer – you need to protect the plants that might not make it, and leaving feed out for the birds and squirrels is more important than ever.

Next Year

And if you are completely at a loss with winter and just want next summer to roll around sooner, then start planning ahead. Most festivals release dates if not tickets and lineups super early. Start plotting your festival calendar, call up your friends and get them as hyped as you are. You can also start planning holidays – the early-booking can get you some amazing deals.

Enjoy

At the end of all of that, there are some amazing parts of winter you should be enjoying. Fall brings Halloween, which means scary movies cuddled up on the sofa with popcorn. Dressing up and going out with your friends. Thanksgiving is a great time to spend with family, and it’s all about food and fun and who can eat the most turkey. Christmas is a glitter-fest of presents, love, food, and family. And then New Year’s Eve rolls around with some of the best parties of the year.

As well as partying your socks off – you also get to wear the fluffiest pairs you own. With thick sweaters, bobble hats and scarves that look more life blankets. You can stay in an eat as many marshmallows you want purely because they are either in your hot chocolate or on a chocolate dipped wafer. You’re more likely to spend quality time with friends and family because you’ll stay in and chat rather than laying out by a pool or going to a club – which is fun but not the best place for a conversation.

Going on vacation is always an exciting time. You get the chance to see a part of the world which you haven’t seen before. And, you don’t have to worry about any of life’s normal little issues; like work and money. Instead, you can spend the time relaxing and having fun. This can all be ruined, though. Without the right preparation, it’s easy to go on holiday without the body you want. And, this can be enough to make you feel uncomfortable for the whole trip. To help you out with this, this post will be going through some of the important things to do to your body before you travel. With this in mind, you should be able to make your trip much more pleasant. And, it doesn’t have to cost you anything at all.

Tanning

To start, a lot of people go on vacations to hot places. And, in these places, you will often find loads of people with great tans. This can make you feel very out of place if you have a pale complexion. So, it’s worth getting a base tan before you go away. To do this, you have a couple of choices. In most cases, it’s best to do this through sunbathing; as long as you have the right protection. But, using a tanning bed or spray tan will also work well. Of course, this doesn’t just serve for vanity. Along with the benefits of looking good, having a tan will also increase your protection against the sun. There’s not much worse than sunburn when you’re on a nice trip. So, it’s best to make sure that you have this sorted before you go. Be careful, though; fake tans won’t give you this protection.

Getting in shape

Next, it’s time to think about a different aspect of your body’s appearance. A lot of people like to get into shape before they go on vacation. You will probably be spending a lot of your time wearing very few clothes. This means that you will be exposed and on show; driving most to try to look as good as they can. The biggest part of this journey will be your diet. You need to make sure that you’re eating a balanced and healthy diet long before you go on your holiday. Options like Huel are great for those who can’t be bothered with calorie counting; but, won’t be good for those that like variety in their food. But, there’s more to this than just food.

You also have to consider the exercise you do; when you’re planning to get in shape for your vacation. Putting effort into something like this will always pay off. And, in fact, it may only take a month or two for you to get there. During this time, you need to try and do some moderate or heavy exercise each day. Cardio work can be performed as much as you want. But, weight training will have to have breaks. If you’re unsure; you could always go and see your doctor or a personal trainer to figure it out. This will help you to clear up any concerns you might have.

Vaccinations/other medication

Now, as it gets closer to the vacation, you need to consider the vaccinations you might need to travel to your destination. Loads of countries will enforce mandatory vaccinations for their guests. This ensures that diseases don’t leave the country and get taken to a place where they could cause an epidemic. Finding this information out should be too hard. There are websites on the internet dedicated to helping people find out which vaccines they might need to travel to different places. Along with this, you might want to get some other medication for your trip. A lot of people find that they get sick on planes or in very hot places. So, it’s worth considering what you might suffer from while away.

Getting your hands on medication can be done through a few different routes. For vaccinations, you will need to go to a doctor. They will be the only people with access to the right chemicals to give you the vaccine you need. And, along with this, they will be the only ones who can give you proof you’ve had it. But, other medication can be sourced differently. There are loads of websites on the internet which can sell you bulk loads of medication. Buying pills like this should be done with care, though. Only ever buy from a company which you trust. And, only buy drugs which are recognized by your doctor.

Personal hygiene

Your personal hygiene could play a big part of your trip. And, for women, there’s something to be very concerned about; periods. Of course, you can’t exactly book a holiday to suit this time in the month. Instead, you have to find a way to solve the issue yourself. Norethisterone tablets are used to delay a period; making it much easier for you to feel comfortable swimming and enjoying yourself. Other embarrassing, but completely natural, bodily issues can also be solved with medication. For example, people who struggle to control their bladder might want to find a drug to ease this issue for them when they travel.

One of the biggest areas of personal hygiene which people fail to address before their trip is their skin’s health. This part of your body is the one organ that people see all the time. You can’t hide your skin; especially in a hot place. So, instead, you need to work hard to make sure that it’s clear of spots or blemishes before you go. As a pro-tip; bicarbonate soda is great for clearing the skin. But, of course, you probably have a few tricks up your sleeve.

Hopefully, this post will inspire you to start thinking about little improvements before your next vacation. A lot of people ignore these things until it’s too late. And, this will only lead to you feeling unsure about your body while you’re away. So, instead, do the work at home; it’s worth it.

It’s getting to that time of year when you need to pluck and preen and get summer ready. I know, I know! It’s a lot of hassle when you first shave those legs after a longer winter of rocking leggings and trousers. But the sooner we do it, the sooner we can wear skirts and sandals, and jump in the pool without a second thought. But if you are still struggling,  even after such a motivational speech, then read on for any easy how-to guide to ensure you are summer ready as quick as possible.

Personalized Beach Towel

Tan it up

Of course, we all know the dangers of sun exposures and don’t even get me started on the irresponsibility of sunbeds! That means the only way to get yourself tanned and lovely is via a fake tan product.

Luckily, there is an abundance of these on the market. Including gradual tans, foam tans, and spray tans.

Gradual tans work over a longer period of time. You apply them like moisturizer, and the color on you skin builds up gradually over each application. Although you do need to make sure that you use one that is specially formulated for your face.

Foam tans are one of the best fake tan products for two reasons. First, they seem to go on a lot better, and they are easy to work into the skin. Secondly, you can usually see where you have been. So you don’t end up going over the same area again, and again and getting patches.

Most foam tans also give you the color you are looking for in one or two applications too. So they are a great idea if you need it sorted quickly.

Lastly, spray tans are instant. You have them sprayed on with a pump, a bit like a hose and then keep them on for a few hours. Then when you wash them off, you have a perfect tan underneath.

You can go to a salon to have this done, or if you are a real tan enthusiast, you can buy the kit to do it yourself at home. Just remember not to sit on your favorite furniture as the tan can rub off and leave a real mess.

Smooth legs and body

Apart from a tan, most women also like to ensure that their legs and other areas are smooth are hair free for the summer.

The quickest and easiest way to do this is by using a disposable razor and some massaging cream. Or you can use conditioner too as this is design for hair and skin and is full of silicone which makes the razor glide across the skin.

Of course, not everyone loves disposable razors, as you run the risk or razor burn and unsightly and painful nicks and cuts. Happily, there are other options to try out which avoid this these problems.

The first is the electric razor, like the ones at  https://www.shavingmachine.org/best-electric-shavers-women/. These are electronic gadgets designed to make shaving super easy and quick and vastly reduce the risk of cutting yourself as they have shields to produce the skin.

However, you may choose not to shave at all on the go for something else entirely like waxing or epilating.

Both of these remove the hair from a root which means it takes longer to grow back. So you have a long time being hair free. However, for this reason, they are the most painful way of getting rid of any body hair.

There is also another disadvantage to these methods as you have to wait for the hair to be a certain length before it can be removed, and your skin can resemble a plucked chicken when you first do this treatment. Although it usually calms down after a while.

Protect your eyes

Lastly, another major task on our summer ready to do list as women is to ensure that we have the right protective eye wear for the sunny season.

Sunglasses need to protect our eyes from UVA and UVB rays, as well as look fabulous and fit in with the rest of our summer wardrobe.

Its also important to wear sunnies because they stop you squinting a lot in the sun. Which can help reduce the occurrence of a fine lines on the face, keeping you looking young.

It’s not long ’til summer now, which means that the bikini countdown is finally on. If you’re not prepared to bare all on the beach just yet, don’t panic because there is still time to tackle those little problems that prevent you from donning your bikini. Here’s how:

Cut Down on Sodium

Don’t want to look bloated on the beach? Don’t add salt to your food, eat junk food or indulge in processed meals with a high sodium content. Sodium is the thing that will make you bloat up more than anything else, so start cutting down now if you want to look beach body beautiful in a few week’s time.

Cut Out Wine

I know, it sucks but wine is also a big cause of bloating, which is why you should probably cut it out entirely if you don’t want your belly to stand out when you’re in your bikini.

Lower Your Carb Intake

Carbs not only contribute to bloating, but they will also make you gain weight if you eat too many. If you want to drop a few pounds and look trimmer in a hurry, cutting down the amount of carbs you eat and only eating unrefined carbs will go a long way to getting you where you want to be.

Hit the Gym

If you want a bikini body, you need to put in the hard work, as you can see at http://www.bikinibodyguidereview.com/. There simply is no way around it, you need to hit the gym, and you need to hit it hard. If your focus is on weight loss, stick to the cardio machines and classes, and if you want to increase your muscle tone, hit the weight area for optimum results.

Spray it On

If you don’t want to look like Wednesday Adams’ paler sister when you hit the beach, you’re going to want to book a tanning session. You can find some of the best tanning salons at http://tan-usa.net/, and I’d advise you start working on your tan at least a month before you plan to put on that bikini if you want to look flawlessly bronzed.

Buff Your Body

When you put on a bikini, you leave a lot of skin on show, so start plucking, waxing, exfoliating and moisturizing right now. You’ll be thankful you did when you look smooth and sleek on the beach.

Pick the Perfect Bikini

We all have our own unique styles, so what you consider to be the perfect bikini might differ from my idea of swimsuit heaven, but if there’s one thing we all have in common, it’s that we want to look good on the beach and that means a supportive bikini. Try to choose a bikini with built in support and you’ll look great whether you’re lying on a lounger, swimming in the sea or playing volleyball on the beach.

Swear by Sunnies

A good pair of sunglasses will not only protect your eyes, but they will make you look instantly more glamorous and cover those dreaded panda eyes, should you forget to wear waterproof mascara.

Have a great time at the beach!
