I don’t know about other engaged/ married ladies, but when Kendall popped the question, I wanted to tell the world. And I did. We got lucky in that our proposal was actually taped by a WTK band member/ YouTuber, so it’s immortalized on the ‘tube FOR-EV-ER (and it’s been viewed over 46k times!) besides being on my blog. I could talk wedding all day long, and I’ve actually apologized to my friends and family for being super lame insanely excited  about my engagement and they’ve all told me the same thing: it’s my time. And you know what? After all the weddings I’ve attended and been init is.

While I didn’t even consider flashing my ring all over social media the minute I got engaged, it is an absolutely stunning symbol of my my and Kendall’s new life together. He picked it just for me and it’s basically a combo of every ring I’ve ever loved. I also, pretty much immediately, picked up the Bride trucker hat I wore to the Barbie brunch last weekend. I just kind of want to shout it from the rooftops that I’m taken- by the most amazing guy on the planet. I am truly lucky that I get to spend the rest of my life with him.

Incidentally, today is my birthday! And I couldn’t ask for a better gift than all the love I’ve received this year from both him and everyone else in my life. Thank you to everyone who has made 27 my best year. 28 will only be better because I get to marry the love of my life!

Happy last day of January! With February coming in fast, all I’ve been thinking about is Valentine’s Day, so I apologize if you’re not into it because I have at least a few more Valentine’s Day related posts coming your way.

I came across this adorable sweater last year around Valentine’s Day, but I wear it year round as coze clothes or over my yoga tanks. I wanted to try dressing it up for work, and since I’ve been playing around with pattern-mixing, the gingham in the same red + white seemed like just the thing. There was actually snow on the ground in DC yesterday morning, then it got progressively colder as the day wore on- reminding me just how wonderful the whole button-down-under-a-sweater layering thang could be. And don’t worry ma (or Kendall), I’m not barelegged, I just found the most amazing nude pantyhose at Macy’s this year. They’ve held up better than most of my sheer tights and I still get to show off my legs without freezing. Win/ win.

I am pretty obsessed with this poppin’ red though. This time of year, when it’s so gloomy and chilly, it’s nice to put on something bright and top it off with a smile.

Winter is only just upon us but already the fashion world is turning its attention to the summer. For those wanting to get ahead of the game, it’s important to do the same. It may be hard to think blue skies when you’re wrapped in your cold weather accessories, but try to get yourself in a sunny state of mind! The fashion world waits for no one, and summer will be here before we know. Don’t fall behind. Stock up on your summer selection now. These tips will show you how!

the carolove Starting Your Summer Wardrobe Now

There are some summer essentials that none of us can go without. Stocking up on these first might just help you get in the sunny state of mind you’re after. It’ll ease you into things! Of course, sunglasses are a must.  Get familiar with the best ones around from sites like http://www.sunglasspicks.com/women/. Review sites can be a huge help when you’re first trying to get to grips with up and coming fashions. Sunglasses aren’t the only essential you’ll need. Stock up, too, on bikinis, sandals and strap tops. The good news about all these essentials is that they’re relatively stable from season to season. You could even pull out last year’s bits and see if they would work this year too!

As soon as we get used to one fashion season, there’s another one coming in. That’s right, I’m afraid; it’s time to get to grips with the new style. Shops start putting out the summer stuff as soon as the Christmas sales are over. Don’t waste time. Even if you don’t feel like buying yet, looking around will give you an idea of what’s on trend. That way, you can look through last year’s wardrobe and decide what needs replacing. Window shopping isn’t the only way to see what’s coming up, either. Follow favorite designers and fashion shows to gain a better idea of what’s happening. Look, too, at fashion blogs like www.thefashionspot.com. That way, you can keep up to date with various designers in one easy place.

Once you’ve restocked your essentials, it’s time to get shopping. There are many benefits to shopping before summer hits. A lot of the time, you’ll be able to get some bargains as the clothes aren’t in demand. You’ll also be able to get some pieces that might not stay in shops for long. While everyone else is looking through the sales racks, you’ll be grabbing the best new season stock. Then, you’ll be able to rest easy that you won’t see anyone else in that outfit when summer comes! If you don’t fancy going out in the cold to find your summer dresses, snuggle up at home and shop online.

After following these steps, you’ll be well set for when summer rolls around. And trust us, it’ll roll around a lot sooner than you think. Seasons always do. By getting ahead, you’re sure to be the trendsetter in your friendship group!

Last year, on Little Bitty City One, I did a guift guide for the Rose Quartz + Serenity, the Pantone color(s) of the year for 2016. This was by far my most popular gift guide last year  and the pink/ blue is one of my favorite color combos of all time. I was so psyched waiting for this year’s color to be announced. Then greenery happened, and I was not so psyched. While I love myself a good hunter or olive, greenery is a little yellow for my complexion and certainly not as easy to wear as last year’s dreamy pastel combo. I wasn’t excited about greenery at all and was debating on creating the last gift guide I’d had scheduled for months. But then I did a little bit of research and I guess Pantone knew what we all needed…

A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.

Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.

Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world.

A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.

I am a firm believer in the power of objects + symbolism to impact your day to day life. My biggest goal in 2017 is to become more fiscally responsible, so feel like maybe the color of the year being about the color of money is a good sign for me. This could all be nonsense, but why not, right? So I decided to give greenery a go and create a gift guide. On the subject of being fiscally responsible, all of my greenery picks are under $50. So here we are to close out the year with a new color- what do you think of greenery?

This past weekend was rough. Friday night, I woke up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain, finally got back to sleep and woke dreamed about walking around DC in summer in a fur coat. Fever dreams. It was getting worse and worse on Saturday and by the time Kendall convinced me I needed to go to the clinic, my fever was almost at a 103. For someone whose normal temps are below 98, this was pretty terrifying for me. A bowl of chicken noodle soup and a horse-sized Motrin later, my fever was gone, my aches were better, and I am so thankful for such a sweet, caring guy to take care of me and make me go to the doctor. I couldn’t go to brunch with my girls or to the tree-lighting at City Center, but I guess it’s best that I just stayed in and recovered.

This is all to say- I have my health (back), I have a great relationship, I have friends who missed me at lunch, and I had my parents check in on me just to see if there was anything else I needed. For Christmas, I don’t need a thing. But it’s kind of fun to just share the stuff I’m interested in right now and that’s kind of the point of my blog anyway. Plus, even though I gave into some Cyber Monday steals for me and for others, I did a lot of online window shopping.

What do you want for Christmas? Let me know in the comments!
