A few days late but here I am. This past weekend was so amazing and I always feel inspired when I get home from the Jersey Shore. The weather was unusually perfect- no flooding or high winds- so we really enjoyed Chowderfest to the fullest. While we didn’t actually do as much shopping damage as usual (not enough room in the car, tbh) I really had fun checking out the style of the beach this year.

If you’ve never been to the Jersey Shore, chances are that idiot show from nearly a decade ago has warped your opinion. Pro tip: none of those people actually lived down the shore. I was actually really taken aback this year with how stunning the LBI locals were: sun kissed, athletic, effortlessly gorgeous. As for the clothes on the island, a lot of what I gravitate towards: distressed, oversized, comfy without compromising style. A bit of beach bum meets boho and I loved it. Grab me something soft and add a ruffle, bow, or embellishment and I’m there!

Speaking of which… this Cotton Emporium Ruffle Hem Knit T-Shirt Dress is everything. I would stick it with booties and a leather jacket (as I would with pretty much anything this time of year.)

I read a lot of blogs from the UK and I’m usually sad that I can’t purchase their recommendations but I found AC Clean Up Mild BB Cushion on Amazon and I’m thrilled! Not only does it have an SPF 50 (50!!) but there’s tea tree oil in it. Totally worth a try and for under $20, if I don’t love it it’s no harm no foul!

I’ve been checking out vampy lip colors for the season. Currently crushing on MAC Nude Lipstick in Antique Velvet.

This Halogen Ruffle Cold Shoulder Sweatshirt combines three of my favorite things: grey, cold shoulder, ruffle.

I absolutely love my cape this time of year. Throw it on on the way to work, snuggle in it if I get to cold in the office, throw it in my bag on my way home when it’s too hot. The colors in this Pashmina Wrap has the perfect colors for the season too!

Apparently statement necklaces are kind of on their way out? I refuse to a) believe it b) give mine up. This behemoth is the kind of thing I’d throw on with a simple work outfit to jazz it up.

File this under “things I absolutely don’t need” but how cute is this Llama Coin Purse? Fun fact: I wanted a llama so bad when I was younger. My Gramma Dee actually got me a charm bracelet one year that said “llama” on it.

This is silly but I took a quiz to see what kind of crystal resonates with me. I shouldn’t be surprised- it’s rainbow quartz. I love the raw look of these Nakibirango London Titanium Aura Astral Earrings.

What are you loving and craving this October?

I sometimes think of my blog as a paper doll or a mood board. It’s a place for my to put together looks that I may not ever wear IRL and that’s ok. Finding inspiration from other bloggers, or even one element of an outfit online can spark a whole look for me. This is one of those looks.

I have said multiple times that dressing for work is hard for me in the summer. I’m just kind of hot and miserable. Kristyn posted this Embellished Sheath Dress on Instagram a couple weeks ago and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. I haven’t pulled the trigger on it because I haven’t decided about shopping for new work clothes before I start my new job, but it’s definitely on my wish list!

A dress like that doesn’t really need a necklace because of the embellishments, but I think the Piña Studs compliment the beading on the dress perfectly.

The bags I use for day-to-day need to be big enough for my planner, my wallet, phone, ipod, headphones, and “social pouchy” (the silly name by bestie and I call the pouches we move from purse to purse that’s pre-packed with essentials like mini-brushes and perfume samples). The Ted Baker London Blossom Leather Tote fits the bill AND it has cherry blossoms on it’ so this DC girl approves.

I’m kind of a little booboo b*tch when it comes to wearing heels. Just not a fan and I complain about my feet hurting and it’s bad time for everyone involved. The exception comes in two forms: a low, block heel, or a sweet pair of espadrilles like these Caterina Scalloped Cutout Suede Wedge Espadrilles.

It’s cooling down a bit (for now) but aside from that, offices are always chilly. I always keep a cardigan or a scarf like the Badgley Mischka Ocelot Jacquard Wrap at my desk. And don’t forget a great pair of sunnies like these Round Cat Eye Sunglasses, which have 100% UV protection.

Have you ever seen a piece that inspired a whole look?

One of the absolute coolest things about having a blog is building relationships with brands  that I might not know about otherwise. Boho Betty reached out to me a little bit ago about forming a partnership, and I jumped at the chance to work with them.

Little Caro fact: I can count on one hand, and specifically remember one time, that I have been without a bracelet since I was 14. When Candace died, her best friends put their heads together and came up with a simple design for a silver ID bracelet: CLD <3 4EVER. I’m now on my second bracelet and you can barely make out the inscription on this one because, like I said, I NEVER take it off. Even if I’m not wearing another stitch of jewelry, I always have on my bracelet.

In high school, I stacked my stack miles high with other bracelets, that famous yellow Livestrong band included. I got away from that a little in college when my sorority advisor warned me about over-accessorizing for recruitment events. I’m starting to stack again, mostly with Stella & Dot, but Boho Betty takes the bracelet game up a notch. They have a bunch of pre-stacked options, and you can shop by color or style.

But you want to know the best part? You can save 20% on your BoHo Betty purchases by using the code THECAROLOVE20!
