Can you believe that it was over 18 years ago that Sex and the City first came into our lives? It was so fun to live vicariously through Carrie Bradshaw and friends as they navigated their lives around New York City. If only we could all have such fabulous lives (and wardrobes)! Since the series has ended, we have been robbed of a few things. One of which is the fashion and style. Could anyone’s shoe collection be nicer than that of Ms. Bradshaw’s? The second thing is knowing all of the latest bars and restaurants to visit on a trip to NYC. The girl gang would be filming in some of the trendiest spots, which was major inspiration for New York travel. But if you’re planning a trip to New York City anytime soon, then it might be worth looking up some of these spots that are a little different from your typical tourist locations. Carrie Bradshaw would be proud.

Cronut Bakery

In the series, Carrie made the Magnolia Bakery a popular tourist spot when she was seen buying her cupcakes from there. But let’s face it, cupcakes are a little ten years ago, right? The baked goods of choice have got to be cronuts, right now. The combination between a doughnut and a croissant is some flaky pastry perfection. So make sure you look up where to find some when you’re in New York. The Dominique Ansel Bakery in the SoHo area of the city is a stylish spot to get some of the goods. So you could add that to your list.

Beauty and Hair Salon

It wouldn’t be a trip to New York without getting a new hairdo or treating yourself to a beauty treatment. It could just be getting a manicure or a pedicure or even something quick and easy like getting your eyebrows threaded; treat yo’ self! One of the best areas to look for the best hair salon in NYC is in the SoHo district. You could also look on the Upper East Side for an ultra glamorous hair or beauty salon that every Gossip Girl would be interested in too.

Quirky Cafe

If you want to get a hot chocolate with actual gold leaf in, then look no further than New York. A cafe like Serendipity 3 could be a fun choice for a stop off for a light bite. Based not too far from the Upper East Side, the legendary dessert destination is a stone’s throw from Central Park. So a walk around the park afterward will be the perfect way to see it in style.

Shopping

It wouldn’t be a complete trip without being able to so some major shopping in the city. Starting in Midtown Manhattan will be a good place to start. Most famous is The Plaza Hotel site that was famously used in the series, both times involving Mr. Big. Then carry on down Fifth Avenue as you shop (or window shop) and take in all of the amazing shops and atmosphere.
