It’s funny, isn’t it? When we’re kids, we can’t wait to grow up, leave home and become adults yet when we’re staring at thirty we’d rather be back in the ball pool, eating sweets and listening to 80’s hits because they remind us of our happy childhood. Birthdays now, without a doubt, are a huge deal as they bid a fond goodbye to the angst filled teens, and uncertain twenties of your youth and a hello to newfound confidence, life goals, and understanding, finally, who you are!

Black and Gold Tassel Garland

Black And Gold

What could be better than a glitzy, glamorous event that celebrates the finer things in life? Black and gold look stunning together, providing a sophisticated theme for a modern black tie ball, casino night or even birthday centered charity auction. Decorate your venue with gold balloons, black chair covers and use floral centerpieces in glittery gold vases. Customize cocktail names so each one has black, or gold in the name and have your caterer create a Geode crystal cake with gold icing and edible black rose motifs.

Carnival Party Decorations

Childhood Memories

If you’re somber about leaving your younger self behind then, this is the theme for you. Have one last hurrah and create an epic, fairground themed party complete with rides, stalls, a giant merry go round, or at least the sound, and lights of one via AV hire plus a fabulous cotton candy machine. Have nostalgic music playing all night, serve your favorite food from when you were a kid, probably hot dogs, chips and chocolate brownies, and ask everyone to come dressed the same way that they did growing up. Plan children’s party games but with adult twists so prizes could include mini bottles of booze or flavored chocolate liqueurs.

Roaring Twenties

No one knew how to throw a better party than the foot tapping, booze smuggling and the flapper dress wearing men and women of the 1920’s. Think Downton Abbey, The Great Gatsby and Agatha Christie’s Murder On The Orient Express. Back then, ladies dressed for dinner in laces and silks while diamonds and pearls adorned their ears and necks. Men were courteous, polite and often dressed in full black tie while card games such as whist and rummy were a popular post-dinner pursuit. Why not combine your love of vintage cars, classic cocktails and gorgeous clothes with an ‘authentic’ gambling den? Design playing card invitations and hire a mini casino to entertain all your guests.

Cupcake Toppers

Screen Kings And Queens

Perfect for film fans a movie themed party offers everyone the chance to dress up as their favorite star, or starlet. Roll out the red carpet and borrow, or buy cheaply, no longer working vintage cameras, create DIY clapperboards and have a photo booth where guests can feature on their very own movie poster. It goes without saying you’ll need a popcorn machine, but don’t just stick to sweet and salted – experiment with flavors to create incredible snacks. Why not hold your own mini awards ceremony? Then, to honor the birthday, boy or girl create a little movie all about them and play it after dinner.
