Your partner has popped the question? Congratulations! Chances are you’re on a huge high right now- enjoy every moment as this it’s a memory you will look back on forever. If you’re a keen bride-to-be you will already be looking into details for the wedding, but where exactly do you start? Here are some of the things you can plan and think about in the early days.

Set a Budget

First things first, you need to know what kind of cash flow you’re working with. You will need to sit down with your partner to work this out. You might have different views on what a wedding should cost so come to a compromise. Depending on when you plan on getting married you’ll need to work out how much to save for the wedding, and whether you will use any savings you already have.

Decide When You Will Marry

It doesn’t have to be an exact date at this stage, but knowing roughly when you want to get married helps with the planning process. Do you plan on marrying within the year, or will you wait a year or two? You don’t need to feel pressured into anything, whatever feels right for you and your partner is the right answer. Some people want a long engagement whereas others prefer a very short one.

Start on Your Guest List

The guest list can be tricky. A larger guest list means a more expensive wedding, but cutting it down might involve making some difficult decisions. You also might need to consider any disagreements or issues that will come about due to inviting certain people. A carefully thought out seating plan is essential for any wedding. Starting this early on is probably your best bet.

Pick a Venue

Popular venues book up very quickly, so if you want to stand a chance, you need to ideally get in there early. If you know roughly when you want to get married, you can discuss available dates and from there work out which will suit you best. It could be a church, a hotel or somewhere else. You’ll need to look into whether catering services are offered when you book the venue, or if you will need to sort these yourself. There’s plenty for you to think about and consider!

Start a Fitness Routine

Many brides aim to shift excess weight and tone up before their big day. Even if you don’t want or need to slim down, upping your exercise can give you body confidence and make your dress feel and fit even better. If you do plan on losing weight, especially if it’s a significant amount, then starting early is best. Healthy weight loss is one to two pounds a week, so bear this in mind when you’re working everything out.

Research Vendors

Your vendors are people like caterers, photographers, DJs. In the early stages, you should be doing your research. Read reviews and portfolios, create a shortlist. That way when you’re ready to start booking them you have an idea of who you want. Have a few options available in case some aren’t available on the date you need.
