I love love.

I joke that I will never get married again, but I probably will get married again. But it would have to be a completely different experience. I truly did have my dream wedding and I wouldn’t change anything about how beautiful that day was, but if I do this again, I’m picturing something much smaller, outdoors, and in the fall.

On Saturday, I ran through Love Is Blind. For those unfamiliar with the concept, it’s a show where couples fall in love in “pods” without ever seeing each other and then they have a month to figure out if they actually want to get married. I’m 50/50 on how I feel about the show beyond some quality trash tv. On one hand, learning about someone without looks in the way is kind of a cool idea. On the other, especially after already going through it all, a month does NAHT seem like long enought to really know anyone.

Anyway it just got me thinking about love, and then weddings, and what I’d like visiually the next time around, if there is one. Blush, copper, and teal are my favorite colors, and I feel like a more boho theme would be way different from my incredibly traditional first wedding.

I’ll never not love weddings, so hopefully I’m not coming off as a little loony for this post. It’s more like an art project for me.

]]> 9223 Here’s how You Could Look and Feel your Best on your Wedding Day https://thecarolove.com/heres-how-you-could-look-and-feel-your-best-on-your-wedding-day/ Mon, 04 May 2020 18:55:03 +0000 http://thecarolove.com/?p=8139 Every bride wants to look and feel their best on their big day, but unfortunately, exhaustion builds up and looking your best doesn’t feel so easy all of a sudden.

Personalized Wedding Hangers

Make your Skin Glow

There are things that every woman needs to do in order to keep skin in shape. You need to wash your make-up off before you go to sleep and you also need to use a face cream to make your skin glow as well. When it comes to your wedding however, you’ll want to do something a bit more special. Using a combination of deep pore cleansing products and chemicals will really help you here. That being said, it’s far better to consult a specialist before you choose your own treatment. If you don’t then you may end up doing yourself more harm than good and this is the last thing you need.

Work on Your Smile

If you have not been blessed with teeth that are healthy and white but want to look absolutely perfect in your wedding photos then believe it or not there are ways to change this. You may want to undergo a number of procedures that are designed to whiten your teeth in advance. If you do, then you can give yourself a new-found level of confidence.

Choose your Dress in Advance

Your dress is going to be the centrepiece of your ceremony. For this reason, you need to choose it, well in-advance. After all, there is nothing worse than choosing a landmark wedding venue, only to look back on your photos and not be happy with your dress. If you are not sure if you are going to choose the right dress, then don’t be afraid to take a few bridesmaids with you to the fitting so that they can help you to choose the perfect piece.

Picking a Fitting Hairstyle

The same applies to your hairstyle as well. You need to realistically think about the possibilities of your hair and you also need to make sure that you choose the right headpiece too. Preparation is key here, so you have to make sure that you do whatever you can to make the right decision.

Get your Nails Done

You have to make sure that you don’t do your nails too far in advance and that you don’t do them too early either. Don’t leave too much time for your nails to get damaged, and don’t leave it too late so that you don’t end up getting them dry in time.  If you want to get some help here, then talk with your nail professional and also make sure that you do everything you can to try and give yourself enough time to come to a good decision. If you do, then you should be able to end up with something that you are truly happy with so keep that in mind.

Of course, if you need some help with your wedding day then hiring a wedding planner is key.

]]> 8139 What Sort Of Wedding Day Do You Want? https://thecarolove.com/what-sort-of-wedding-day-do-you-want/ Tue, 21 Jan 2020 14:22:41 +0000 http://thecarolove.com/?p=7828 There are many different types of wedding days. You’ve got the wedding days where everyone is up and dancing right from the get go, and it doesn’t really stop until everyone is being thrown out of the doors in the early hours of the morning. There’s the calm wedding days where everyone spends most of their time talking. Their are the wedding days filled with drama and gossip, and there are the wedding days where nobody is there apart from the people who truly mean the most. Everyone’s wedding day is going to be different based upon likes and dislikes. Some people love the idea of a wedding day that’s full of chaos, some would rather feel the relaxation of the day and be able to enjoy it. So, we’re going to go through a couple of the wedding days that you could go for, so that we can help you pick the style that you want!

Eucalyptus Wedding Garland

One With Nobody There

They say that a wedding is not about the people that you have there, it’s about the day and how special it is to the two people involved, and how all that needs to be celebrated is the love between them. A wedding in the modern day has become more of a show. Guests want to be entertained, and if they’re not, you’ll have an empty wedding venue that you’ve no doubt paid thousands for, vacant before the stroke of midnight. It’s a common problem that so many people have. So, if you think you know that you’d have a wedding venue vacant because your guests aren’t really that close to you, don’t have them there at all. A wedding is just about the two of you, and you could save a hell of a lot of money just going to a registry office with your closest family members and friends.

One With Everybody There

If a big wedding is your style, then getting everybody there is what you’ll be doing. You might have even started to invite people that you haven’t spoken to in years, just because you want the numbers to look good. You need a big venue, a great catering company, and months worth of logistical planning. You need to plan things such as the season and the color of the bridesmaids dresses. There are great bridesmaid dress color for spring and summer wedding! You need to make sure that the day flows quickly enough so that people aren’t left bored. You need to plan the seating arrangement so that everyone is near who they’d like to be near. So you also have to know your guests well! Planning a bigger wedding is always going to take so much longer, and there’s always going to be a bump in the road or two. So, make sure that you have a date that’s so far in advance!

A Completely Random One

Why not go for a wedding day that’s completely random. The theme recently seems to be people going for their wedding reception at completely random locations, such as paint-balling, go karting, or anything fun like that. Can you bring a bit of funk to your wedding day by doing something like this?

]]> 7828 A Wedding That Says “I Heart The Planet” https://thecarolove.com/a-wedding-that-says-i-heart-the-planet/ Fri, 25 Oct 2019 14:14:22 +0000 http://thecarolove.com/?p=7604 A wedding is one of the most iconic symbols of your love. Countless little girls dream quietly of the dress they would wear when they finally get to say “I do” to their Prince Charming. Weddings are deep-rooted into our culture. It is, for many young adults, the safest way to start a family of their own. More importantly, there are still social standards that oppose married couples to the rest of society. Even though you may not be able to put the finger on what the differences are, you still feel its sweet taste in your mouth the first time you get to describe your partner as your wife or your husband – rather than your girlfriend or boyfriend. It’s as if your love felt real for the first time. Getting married is the ultimate commitment to love.

However, love comes in many ways. Getting married in the name of love should, ultimately, tick more than one box. Sure, you’re committing to each other, but that’s not everything that a wedding means. Wedlock is a social status that comes with responsibility, not only to each other but also as a member of society. Making love the theme of your wedding, you need to extend it to your guests and, more importantly, to the planet on which we live. Why so? Because getting married is all about finding the one, and one is exactly the number of planets we’ve got at our disposition. So let’s make the most of it:

Champagne CZ Engagement ring

Look for ethical stones for your rings

The first and most important choice you’re going to make relates to your engagement and wedding jewelry. Indeed, while the ring is a symbol of your bond, it also represents your love for the planet too. Did you know that the typical diamond for an engagement ring is sourced is unethical conditions, causing economic, political, and social conflicts in the mine regions? No ring should have a blood price. That’s precisely why more and more couples are looking for a ring concierge for custom engagement rings that are conflict-free and ethical. More importantly, a dedicated concierge can help you to make an educated choice so that the symbol of your love is gentle on the planet.

Gifts and Cards Sign

How green is the venue?

Everybody wants a memorable venue. However, choosing a place that doesn’t affect the environment is the best thing you can do to extend your love to the planet. Indeed, it is a good idea to study carefully the list of options available. Not all venues offer the same facilities and services. However, more and more venues are sharing their environmental values, helping couples to make better decisions.

VINTAGE WEDDING DRESS

Vintage dresses are the best dresses

You might have to give up on the princess dress of your dreams, especially if you consider the environmental cost of a bridal gown. However, you can find magnificent and just as magical vintage dresses that have been pre-loved. Not only can you save money in the process, but you can also reduce your carbon footprint. Additionally, it feels like receiving the seal of approval of a previous happy couple. (Bonus: you can do this without your dress  having to be vintage, per say. My friend Ally got her wedding dress on ThredUp!)

Your wedding is a mesmerizing display of love. But you can also extend your love to fulfill your social responsibility toward the planet. Just as you’ve got only one darling, you only have one chance of making things right for the planet. The color of love is, without a doubt, green.

]]> 7604 Tips when Purchasing Jewelry for your Wedding Day https://thecarolove.com/tips-when-purchasing-jewelry-for-your-wedding-day/ Tue, 24 Sep 2019 22:27:51 +0000 http://thecarolove.com/?p=7557 Your wedding day is probably going to be the biggest day of your life. For this reason, it’s important that you do everything you can to make sure that you are happy and confident in what you are wearing. If you just aren’t, then this can really put a downer on your day.

Rose gold Bridal necklace and earrings

Match your Metals

If you have a white gown then silver or even platinum pieces will stand out the most. If you are wearing an ivory gown on the other hand then gold jewelry will bring out the creamier tones. Of course, blush tones, or even pink hues work well with rose gold jewelry or even gold for that matter. This is just a basic rule of thumb, but if you try and stick to it when you are choosing your jewelry then there is no reason why you can’t end up with an outfit that is well and truly spectacular.

Less is Always More

Jewelry should always enhance your dress, without overwhelming it. For this reason, if you know that your dress already has gems on it then there’s a chance that all you need are some sparkling earrings and a simple necklace. If you are stuck for ideas, then why not check out luxury jewelry by Hammerman?

Neckline

When choosing your outfit, you need to make sure that you take into account your neckline too. If you have a V-shaped dress or even one that is strapless then a medium-length necklace would be the ideal choice. If your dress has a high neck for example, then you might not actually need a necklace at all. Statement earrings can work just as well, and you would be surprised at how much they can bring out your outfit.

Take it Slow

Wedding planning can be stressful to say the least. You may find that you are constantly faced with decisions and that you are also overwhelmed 90% of the time. Even with everything going on, you do need to make sure that you don’t rush your jewelry. Take your time and find something that is really special. When you have decided on one piece then everything else will come together and you may even find that you are able to look and feel like the bride you were born to be.

Stick with What you Know

Your wedding day is ultimately a way to celebrate who you are, as well as your partner. For this reason, you need to make sure that you don’t change up your style too much and that you also stick with what you know too. If you are laid back and minimalist then don’t try and choose accessories that are bold and out there. After all, this is not who you are, and you may even find that you don’t feel as comfortable as you could. If you need some help, then look through your wardrobe and base your decisions on the clothes that you love the most. This will help you to reflect your values in their purest form.

]]> 7557 These Tips will Help you to Look and Feel your Best on your Wedding Day https://thecarolove.com/these-tips-will-help-you-to-look-and-feel-your-best-on-your-wedding-day/ Fri, 30 Aug 2019 19:26:03 +0000 http://thecarolove.com/?p=7535 Every bride wants to look and feel her best on her wedding day, but this can be difficult when you have so much going on. You may feel as though everything becomes overwhelming and that you are not able to keep track of everything. Luckily, there are a few things that you can do to help yourself to look and feel your best on your wedding day.

Women Wedding Shoes

Make your Skin Glow

There are a few things that you can do to help yourself to feel more confident on your wedding day. This could include washing your face before you go to sleep or even trying to use a moisturizer. Face masks are also ideal because you can wear them overnight and wake up with your skin feeling nice and refreshed. If you’re not quite sure which products you should be using, then consult a beautician before the big day. That way you won’t end up with red and blotchy skin.

Choose your Wedding Dress

Your wedding dress will essentially be the centerpiece for your ceremony, so you need to choose one that looks and feels perfect. If you want to help yourself here, then you need to choose one in advance and you also need to make sure that it fits too. Lastly, making sure that it corresponds to the ceremony itself is crucial because if you don’t then you may feel out of place on the big day. It also helps to decide what accessories you want too, whether it’s diamond earrings or even a designer bracelet.

Choose the Right Hairstyle

You should always take into account the various hairstyles that are available for you to choose from.  If you are planning on having a headpiece, then make sure that you’ve settled on a hairstyle first. It doesn’t matter how nice a headpiece is because if you end up having to change a style you’re comfortable with just to make it look good, then this won’t be doing you any favors on the big day.

Have your Nails Done

You shouldn’t do your nails too far in advance, but you shouldn’t have them done too late either. If you have overly long nails then make sure that they are trimmed and polished beforehand, and also make sure that you are happy with the color of the nail polish too. Remember that there’s going to be a lot of photos, and you will probably have individual photos taken of your hands as part of the photo-shoot package too. If you’re not happy with your nails, then this can make you feel self-conscious and it can also have a huge impact on your day overall.

Choose the Right Make-up

It’s always a good idea for you to have a test-run with your make-up before the big day. Consider choosing make-up that accents the natural contours of your skin and also make sure that it brings out your tone too. This will make you feel more beautiful and natural on the day.

]]> 7535 6 Important Wedding Details Handled By The Groom https://thecarolove.com/6-important-wedding-details-handled-by-the-groom/ Fri, 23 Aug 2019 13:24:34 +0000 http://thecarolove.com/?p=7510 When it comes to planning a wedding, a lot of the details seem to be handled by the bride. Sometimes, it might feel like you’re doing everything and the groom isn’t really doing much at all. There are some important decisions that you make together like the venue, the food, and the entertainment, but a lot of the smaller details end up falling to the bride. There are some things that you want to handle on your own, like picking the wedding dress, but there are still a lot of details that the groom should be dealing with. If you’re in the process of planning your wedding, these are the responsibilities that the groom should have.

Groom Hanger

Choosing Groomsmen

The biggest job that the groom has is picking his groomsmen and his best man. The best man will be directing all of the groomsmen and making sure that everybody knows where they need to be and what they need to do on the big day. It’s a big decision because it’s not just about choosing the people that he wants to be part of the wedding, it’s also about picking people that will step up to their role and ensure that the day goes smoothly. Ultimately, the final decision comes down to the groom, however, it may be sensible for you to have some input and discuss it together. If there are certain friends or family members that you are not sure about and you don’t think that they would be a good fit for the best man, you should let your groom know beforehand.

Picking Attire

It’s down to you to pick the dresses for you and your bridesmaids, but it’s down to the groom to choose what he will wear, and what the groomsmen will wear too. It’s always best to go for custom suits, even if they cost a bit more because the fit will be a lot better and the groom can choose something that fits well with the theme of the wedding. Obviously, you don’t want him to see the dress before the big day, but it might be a good idea to discuss the general style that you’re going for so he can find something that compliments it well.

Guest Lists

The final guest list for the wedding will be discussed and decided on together. But before you get to that stage, you both need to draw up your own guest list of family and friends that you want to invite. It’s important that you choose the venue and come up with a budget before you start thinking about a guest list because this will give you a rough idea of how many people you want to invite. There’s no point coming up with a list of 200 people if you can only afford to have a small wedding.

Marriage License

Before you get married, you will need to secure a marriage license. Traditionally, this duty is left up to the groom. As well as securing the marriage license, the groom will have to make arrangements with the officiant and deal with the payment as well. It’s important that you do this ahead of time to make sure that everything is in place for the big day.

Booking Hotels

If you have a lot of family and friends coming in from out of town or you’re having a destination wedding, you will need somewhere for everybody to stay. Usually, it will not be left to the guests to sort out their hotel rooms themselves. Instead, the groom will organize it all and book the hotels. Once the invites have been sent out and the replies have come in, the groom needs to call around the guests and find out how many of them need somewhere to stay, so they can book everything in advance. If it is left too late, it might be difficult to secure enough rooms for everybody.

Thank You Gifts

After the wedding is over, you need to send thank you notes and possibly gifts out to all of the guests. Traditionally, the bride and groom each deal with their own guests separately. So, you need to sort out the thank you notes and gifts for your family and friends and the groom will do the same for his guests. There will be some guests that are friends of both the bride and groom, in which case, you can choose gifts together.

It might feel like everything is left up to you when planning the wedding, but the groom also has these important responsibilities as well.

]]> 7510 3 Things Your Should Be Aware Of Before Booking A Wedding https://thecarolove.com/3-things-your-should-be-aware-of-before-booking-a-wedding/ Tue, 20 Aug 2019 13:11:45 +0000 http://thecarolove.com/?p=7492 You’re probably already running and tackling your wedding-checklist, you’ll have your budget set out, your guest list noted down and are already making your way through the first steps to making your wedding the best day ever. Whether you’ve started the plans yourself or your other half is giving you a hand, don’t forget you will have loads of bridesmaids you’ll have your mom and mother in law to give you hand. Probably more than eager to have an input too! Maybe you’ve even arranged a wedding planner to help, whatever input and experienced advice you can gather when planning is good to consider.

Rose gold foil Flowers Peonies wedding planner and engagement gift

You should always remember, it’s important to keep the bigger picture in focus as you figure out the little details. There are definitely a few things that you should be aware of before planning your big day though so have a look below at some of the key areas to keep in mind:

Choose A Venue First

Selecting your venue is one of the best places to start when it comes to starting your wedding planning. Often your venue is the key to a lot of the planning that follows. Some even have restrictions on what you can and can’t have at the venue such as certain flowers, no tents or no horse and carriage, how many guests you can cater for, the timings of the day and many, many more. So getting the venue ticked off is definitely a good choice, you don’t want to have any nasty surprises down the road when you find out you can’t have the tent rentals that you’ve booked or you can’t have the 20 guests during the day time that you want. Another thing to consider with booking your venue first is that it can often be one of the biggest chunks of your budget so sorting this first gives you a good guideline for the other expenses.

Be Patient

Patience is definitely a virtue when it comes to wedding planning. Yes, it can be difficult to be patient and even easier to tell someone that they should be patient however the more you stress out about the planning the more you will come to not enjoying it. Remember that the vendors and planners are probably dealing with a lot more than just your wedding and that they need to be able to provide a service to all their clients. This means that at times you may not get your answer straight away, planners are often waiting on information from vendors so if you’re going it alone and not using a planner you should expect to wait these times too. Try to treat everyone with respect but if they do start to take a little longer than they should be with regards to responding, politely let them know they aren’t living up to the standards they have set for themselves and that you’re disappointed with the service been provided.

You Don’t Need To Know Every Detail

When it comes to a wedding there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that the bride and groom don’t know about and quite frankly you don’t need to know about. It’s much better than way. Unless you have planned every little thing yourself there is always going to be an element of control you need to release, whether that’s what’s going on in the kitchen, the cars arriving on time or the setup of your reception, you don’t need to know everything. You will feel much more relaxed if you don’t especially if anything was to go wrong but is easily fixed.

These are just three areas that you should be aware of before you start planning, hopefully, it will help to make your planning journey more relaxed and stress-free. Do you have any hints and tips that you can share in the comments section below?

]]> 7492 Pulling Together a Wedding in a Hurry https://thecarolove.com/pulling-together-a-wedding-in-a-hurry/ Sun, 10 Mar 2019 20:50:04 +0000 http://thecarolove.com/?p=7046 Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. Whether you are a romantic soul that’s always dreamed of the perfect wedding or someone who is happier with something small and tends to shy away from attention, it’s important. It’s the day that you and your partner become one. The day that you commit yourselves to each other, for the rest of your life. The day that you say “I Do” to the life that you are about to start together. Even if you have lived together for years, already have kids, and can’t see how a wedding will change your day to day lives, it’s a big step. It’s a commitment to a future together.

Printable Rustic Wedding Invitation

The average engagement, so the time between the proposal and the wedding day, is around 18 months. Most couples take their time to find the right venue, to look at outfits and to narrow down their guest lists. Some couples spend over two years thinking about their wedding and finalizing plans. But, the average couple also spends over $30000, so perhaps there is a lot to be said for not being quite average.

If you’ve been together for a long time, or you are more excited about being married than you are the wedding itself, you might decide that you don’t want a long engagement. You might want to get married much sooner. Whatever your reasons, you shouldn’t worry. It’s more than possible to throw together your perfect wedding day in a few months, or less.

Keep It Small

The best way to keep your wedding plans under control, and to a tight budget if you need to, is keeping things small. The fewer people you invite, the less you need when it comes to food, favors, invitations and near enough everything else. It opens up your options when it comes to venues, and means that there are fewer people to consider when it comes to setting a date.

Focus on Venue

Keeping things small also gives you more venue options. Large, and popular reception locations book up in advance. When your wedding is small, you can choose a smaller, more unique venue that might have space in the near future. Remember, that when it comes down to it, there are few things that you need to get married, the venue and the registrar are two of these things, so secure them as early as you can.

Get Married on a Weekday

Many reception locations and wedding venues are fully booked on Saturdays in the summer months, years in advance. You’d struggle to plan a wedding in a year if you had your heart set on a Saturday wedding in July. So, get married on a weekday instead. You’ll have much less trouble securing the venues, suppliers and help that you need.

Prioritize

When you are short on time, some things might not be available. You might not be able to book the DJ that you want or get the cake of your dreams made. You might have to settle for an off the rack dress if there’s no time to get one made. So, before you make plans ask yourself if these are things that you can do without? Asking your friends for help and calling in favors wherever you can give you a great chance to get more sorted in time for the big day.

]]> 7046 Which Part Of Your Wedding Matters To You The Most? https://thecarolove.com/which-part-of-your-wedding-matters-to-you-the-most/ Tue, 26 Feb 2019 19:01:44 +0000 http://thecarolove.com/?p=6959 It’s happening. You’re going to be getting married! You’ve said yes or you’ve popped the question yourself and gotten a big fat yes. Maybe you’ve been waiting for a while – or maybe it feels like you’ve been waiting for a while! Now that the engagement is official, it’s time to start thinking about what to do for the big day. Sure, you’ve probably thought about your wedding day since you can remember, so you’ll at least have the briefest idea of what will be happening, but when it comes to a real, genuine plan, it takes a fair bit of thought.

Pink Sequin Tablecloth

It would be amazing to have everything lined up perfectly and have it all exactly how you want it to be, but we live in the real world and it can be expensive to have everything you’ve ever wanted. As a grown-up, you’re probably a seasoned veteran in prioritizing some things over others, so you’ll be an expert in picking out what matters the most in your wedding. If you’re not exactly sure, let’s take a look at a few aspect to help you pick out what means the most to you.

The Venue

It’s important, so it’s understandable that this is at the top of your list. If the particular building is of great importance to you, then you’ll likely focus on the likes of a private estate wedding venue, or a beautiful five-star hotel catered to your needs. There’s nothing wrong with wanting the perfect venue.

The Location

Similarly to before, but more focusing on the actual town, city, village, state, country and so on. Does a particular area of the world mean more to you than all the other aspects combined? Maybe you’ll want to work everything around this place or this potential theme.

The Ceremony

The main event. The entire reason for the day. Do you care mostly about the marital service and everything else around it is just to supplement the event? Then there’s nothing wrong with focusing solely on the event itself and spending a little more dough on some memorable things that you’ve been thinking about for years!

The Dress

The dress in which you intend to spend the happiest day of your life. Want to focus mainly on this little number? Go for it – nobody will blame you. You’re going to want to look stunning so, if you really want to, splash the cash!

The Food

If you’re a big foodie and want the meals to be perfect for yourselves and all of the guests, then the food will be essential. The amount of people in the world that can have their mood swayed by a good or bad meal is astonishing! After all: everybody likes food!

The Party!

Finally: the big bash at the end of the day. If you’re perhaps a more sociable person or couple and a big do is your thing, then the reception at the end of it all will be your thing, and you’ll probably want that to create lifelong memories for everyone involved.
