Let me first say that there is literally nothing wrong with being basic at it’s most *ahem* basic level. I like what I like and if a trazillion other girls are also wearing riding boots and herringbone vests and sipping pumpkin spice lattes, so be it. My former roommate and I actually threw a Pumpkin Spice Friendship party. I kid you not. And everyone had a blast!
I found an old-ish Cosmo article that defends basic-ness and my favorite line is:
Liking something popular doesn’t make you lame. Discounting someone for having those same interests, however, does. Own your basic-ness, find your tribe…
(My tribe has a new uniform: my Sissy in law, Phi Sig Little, and I all just got this sweatshirt.)
But Fall has always been my favorite time of year- I hate being hot and love Halloween. I read once, I think in Cosmo too actually, that dressing in fall should actually be more fun because fall clothes have more substance than the dresses we throw on in the summer. I totally agree! I love sweaters and scarves and vests and textures and layers. I also look great in fall colors, tbh. Olive green, deep burgundies, amethyst purples. And with that, I bring you the basic essentials you should probably have for fall.
