I can’t believe I almost turned down this dress while shopping with my mom before Christmas at the new Clarksburg Premium Outlets.We were in Ralph Lauren, and I’d actually wanted to try on another dress that they didn’t have in my size when my mom pulled this stunner off a rack. I tried it on and wanted to cry- I felt huge. I felt like my arms were gigantic and I had stubby legs. But my mom told me it was actually a slimming cut for me and, after seeing these pictures, I’m going to have to agree. Why is it that sometimes it takes someone else to tell us we look good to believe it? I’m short and I’m curvy but I take care of myself and dammit if I’m not feeling great right now.
And something about leather- I felt like a total bad-ass when I wore this outfit to work. I wore the jacket like a blazer- it was light enough to wear under my winter coat + keep me comfy in the office AC. Because of the length of the dress, OTK boots kind of cut off my legs, which just gave me an excuse to rock a pair of heels, something I’ve been trying to do more. The necklace was just a treat to myself because I’ve been eyeing blue statement necklaces and this one happened to be half off. Unfortunately, the sale is over, but T+J Designs is constantly having sales, so I’m sure it’ll come back around.
I think the sparkle/ leather/ polished look worked for me. I’m finding that the more polished I am for work, the better I feel. Fitted and professional wear just makes me feel good. What do you wear to feel confident at work?
