Tuesday morning as Kendall and I were getting ready, he asked me what I was going to wear. “My lazy dress,” I told him. This was met with a face of mild confusion until I pulled it out the closet. The came the face of recognition. “Oh. That dress.”

That dress.

That striped, soft, Old Navy dress that goes from the closet onto me into the wash and back into the closet pretty much weekly. It’s what I wear on Mondays, on days I don’t feel great, or on days that I know I need to feel better by shimmying into something that fits like a dream. At this point, it’s a couple years old and I wish I had gotten it in every color- although I am happy I picked the green for my eyes.

My coworkers are probably sick of seeing me in it, and I felt the need to add something besides my usual statement necklace to the look. Luckily for me, the temps finally dropped this week and I could pile on the layers, creating the perfect fall look for my business casual work dress code.

You probably can’t tell from the pictures because I’ve been rocking a ponytail with the wind and scarves situation, but I also want to say I went to only the second place in my life where I will now fully trust anyone with my hair. Dani recommended Illusions in Georgetown and I finally bit the bullet and decided to try it. It was actually a two-week process: I met with Amanda on one Friday where we had a long talk about my hair. We decided on low-maintenance highlights and a treatment to get it healthy. The following Friday, I took off work early and headed to the salon to be beautified. I was genuinely thrilled with the outcome- so natural and my hair is so soft! Amanda also recommended a shampoo with a silver pigment to help me get the frosty blonde look I wanted, but didn’t want to upkeep in the long run. Win win! The customer service was impeccable and when I saw my Jenn who usually does my hair a couple days later, she approved! If you head to Illusions, tell them I sent you will all of my accolades!
