I don’t know about you, but I find this transition period between winter and spring a little bit awkward. The weather can be so changeable, so it can be hard to know what to wear. The morning might start out overcast and grey, but by the afternoon the sun has come out, and it is nice and warm. Meaning what you’ve gone to work wearing isn’t suited to the weather in the afternoon. The struggle is real! So here are some essentials to get you through the transitional period, and get you ready for the glorious spring weather.

Metallics

In spring, it does tend to be all about the colors. Pastels and floral prints are everywhere. But this year I am all about some metallic vibes to complement the color. You could channel the look with a silver midi skirt or a gold jacket. But if you’re not feeling quite bold enough just yet, there are other options for you. Go with some metallic accessories, and you’ll be onto something. It could be some silver flats or brogues. A rose gold clutch or chunky costume jewelry. The key thing to remember is that a little bit of metallic sparkle will go a long way!

Light Pink

As has been said, spring does tend to be about color. But this season I can already tell that light pink is going to be the pastel color of choice. I love how versatile it can be. It can be worn with skirts and shirts, as well as sneakers and accessories. It is a much more subtle color option to wear, which is another reason why I am loving it. You can make the look uber girly too, putting white and soft pink together. Which is what I have been seeing a lot of on social media, like on the Petal Boutique Instagram page. I also like how you can keep things looking a lot more casual with these colors too. Think of some light pink sneakers worn with dungarees, for example.

Off the Shoulder

Tops worn off the shoulder are a big look for this time of year, and they’ll carry on until the warmth of summer too. There are a lot of tops that are of one shoulder, which make it easier to wear in this transitional period. Not as much skin is on show, so it works if it does suddenly start to rain. But to fully embrace the trend, there are lots of tops that are more bandeau style that sits off both shoulders. But you might want to keep that until we well and truly have some sunshine.

Cropped White Pants

Who cares what people say about white, it can be worn whenever you want to. A cropped pair of white pants looks great at this time of year. They look perfect with a floral shirt or a soft pink jacket. They’d look good with a pair of metallic slippers too. The fact that they are cropped makes a difference as it shows you’re embracing the spring vibes.
