I just spent an amazing weekend with some of my college friends in NYC celebrating my friend Brittany’s bachelorette party. My favorite thing is reminiscing ridiculous Greek life stories. Rider was small as it was but Greek Life made it microscopic. It’s funny how this weekend we were celebrating an upcoming wedding but just seven years ago next weekend, we were celebrating graduation.
Leaving my little Greek life bubble, where I was big fish (president, fraternity sweetheart, Cum Laude, honor societies) and entering the real world was terrifying and a little disappointing. We had been told since we were sophomores that the job market was terrible and it would be tough to get a job, but as someone who always kind of got my way, I assumed this wouldn’t be my case and was taught a very tough lesson, very quickly.
My graduation though… that was something special. Most of my family came to Jersey to celebrate and then we went out for dinner in Pennsylvania near my Gramma Dee’s house at one of my favorite restaurants. I was so proud of everything I’d accomplished in school and felt on top of the world and I know my family was proud of me too.
It’s that time of year again when all the grads are leaving the safety of their colleges and universities and entering the real world. I’ve rounded up some gifts for the grads in your life to let them know you’re proud. Some are sweet, others are practical and made to help them spread their wings.
