This is my morning routine: alarm clock goes off at whatever ridiculous and ungodly hour Kendall has set it for (5:50 this morning? WHY?! We both know neither one of us are waking up at the time.). I fall back asleep until about 7:15 or so, complain that I’m cold and sleepy, and stumble off into the bathroom. My “primping” is easy (but always in this order or I get angry)- brush teeth, face wipes, moisturize, clothes on, dry shampoo, tinted moisturizer, blush, mascara, ponytail (or bun) and go. Backpack has all the same crap in it every day, keys and phone are hopefully somewhere I can find them quickly. Fingers crossed that my Uber ride will be $0 today or I take the bus. Don’t ask- I have no idea why or how I got that deal. Get to work, avoid Starbs because I know I have a pretty mug and free covfefe waiting for me in the office and hopefully a prepped breakfast too because I planned ahead on Sunday and hard boiled a bunch of eggs.

I literally just cannot be bothered in the morning. Probably to Kendall’s surprise, I’ve gotten better about this since childhood, when I used to lock one particular nanny out of my room because her voice was like nails on a chalkboard. Or I would cry into my Life cereal as my dad lectured me on the importance of breakfast. I wake up pretty naturally around 7 now, it’s just harder in the winter because it’s dark and cold. But I’m a busy girl with places to be and I don’t want anything slowing me down. So what are the biggest necessities for a girl on the go such as myself?

  1. Yes to tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Facial Wipes– I learned a long time ago that lazy face cleansing is better than no cleansing. These are the best face wipes I’ve ever used.
  2. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer Moisturizer SPF 20– Once you find a skin product that keeps you glowing and soft do not trade it in for unknown Korean crap that you may or may not be allergic to. This doesn’t have much coverage but my skin is so good when I use it consistently that I don’t need coverage. Plus there’s an SPF.
  3. CoverGirl Exact EyeLights Eye Brightening Mascara– If I wear no other makeup, I still rarely go anywhere without at least a swipe of mascara. I’m using this one now. I kind of love my green eyes and I have long, but blonde, lashes that need a little love. Automatic femininity with v little effort.
  4. Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Tapioca Dry Shampoo– I’m working my way through all of their dry shampoos. No complaints about any, but this one is definitely my favorite scent. I usually shower at night then braid my hair so there’s a little wave in it the next day. I dry-shamps the roots for volume and to get rid of shine.
  5. Like A Boss Stainless Steel Travel Mug (25% off until Christmas!)- Like I said before, pretty mug. Bonus points if I get to make my coffee at home and bring it with me! I have a Keurig but I actually brew my favorite coffee from down the shore in a reusable pod. I wasn’t co-president of Greeks Go Green for nothin’!
  6. Rivington Convertible Flap Petrol Backpack– Admittedly this is naht the backpack that I use. This is just my dream backpack. My current backpack is a well-loved Eddie Borgo for Target gem that I got on clearance for like $16. But Meaghan said it best here: I can’t even begin to tell you how much more enjoyable my morning commute is now that I have both arms free to eat a breakfast sammy or high five strangers.
  7. BONUS: Topknot mascara coffee tee (25% off until Christmas!)- Just in case you want to give credit where credit is due for your fabulosity, rock a shirt that lays it all out on the table.

What keeps you moving in the morning?
