While I really love checking out what Blair is wearing, I typically don’t rush out to buy it for two reasons:
1) It’s usually not in my budget. Take for example the GANNI Sheer Organza Midi Shirtdress from her most recent post. It’s $315 and I’m not even entirely sure what its purpose is.
2) Let me expand on part 1. Her clothes, while she always looks amazing, are not entirely accessible to the average gal working 9-5 with happy hours or dinner dates after work. I need desk to drinks, unfussy, and affordable.
So while I do love following high fashion and street style ladies who exude confidence and tulle at all times, I get my real life style inspo from real life bloggers who I even sometimes know… in real life.
DC actually has a HUGE blogging scene, and I’m lucky to be able to share style and sentiments with a whole gaggle of girls on the go with similar lifestyles to mine. Recently, I picked up a tip from Jenn that I’ve been trying more often; when in doubt, put a knot in it. She also shops Amazon the way I do and I can respect ballin’ on a budget!
Jenn has been killing it getting in shape and while I have quite a ways to go in that regard, I am learning that my body is just different from when I was 22 and that’s ok, as long as I keeping it healthy! I’m proud of my curves, and I’ve certainly learned that showing them off actually leads to more flattering looks than if I try to hide them. Oversized clothes tend to make me look more oversized than I am. When I went to the ModCloth FitShop last summer, I actually found out I’m a true hourglass shape. That’s actually pretty rare and I should celebrate that!
I’ve found that wrap dresses, skater skirts, and more fitted tops are my best shapes. DIY knotting is definitely an option for me with button downs and some of the t-shirts I already own, but there are some cute (and budget friendly) options out there that are already knotted for you! I would just stay away from knotted shirts that are too blousy- not all knots are created equal and Kendall, bless his heart, told me when one of my shirts was just not super flattering. (He always makes sure to let me know he thinks I’m beautiful not matter what but something just didn’t look right. I’d prefer that, honestly.)
Anywaaay, check out these cutie knotted tops for under $50!
