I eschewed gingham with a firm hand up until last year. I hated the preppy “checks” especially when I was a super wise and *~edgy~* 10th grader who preferred Hot Topic above all else. I saw the light and have been wanting to add more gingham into my wardrobe.

I think my turning point was seeing so many cute outfits from Lauren that break the pattern mixing rule flawlessly. (Fun fact: she was one of the first bloggers I followed!) I tried it myself for Valentine’s Day and the mix ‘n’ match layers just felt so fun! Right now, the last thing I want to do is layer up, but I’m thinking of using gingham as a neutral for button-downs under sweaters once it gets cooler. And yes, I’m already wishing summer away into the crisp fall-ness I look forward to every year. I’m looking for cool, sunny, October days with a punch of color. Is it weird that I’ve started planning fall outfits already?
