Last year, on Little Bitty City One, I did a guift guide for the Rose Quartz + Serenity, the Pantone color(s) of the year for 2016. This was by far my most popular gift guide last year and the pink/ blue is one of my favorite color combos of all time. I was so psyched waiting for this year’s color to be announced. Then greenery happened, and I was not so psyched. While I love myself a good hunter or olive, greenery is a little yellow for my complexion and certainly not as easy to wear as last year’s dreamy pastel combo. I wasn’t excited about greenery at all and was debating on creating the last gift guide I’d had scheduled for months. But then I did a little bit of research and I guess Pantone knew what we all needed…
A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.
Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world.
A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.
I am a firm believer in the power of objects + symbolism to impact your day to day life. My biggest goal in 2017 is to become more fiscally responsible, so feel like maybe the color of the year being about the color of money is a good sign for me. This could all be nonsense, but why not, right? So I decided to give greenery a go and create a gift guide. On the subject of being fiscally responsible, all of my greenery picks are under $50. So here we are to close out the year with a new color- what do you think of greenery?
