A couple of weeks ago, my girl Sarah celebrated her bachelorette weekend in such a fun way! Her maids of honor organized an Air BNB to be home base for the girls from out of town and organized a limo to take us all to Stone Tower Winery and Bluemont Vineyard.
I didn’t expect it to be any different but it was such a great group of girls. You know you love your friends but it’s not always the case that your friends will love your other friends. I have been around wedding crews where the bridesmaids are clearly just holding it together for the bride, and this was not the case here. Sarah’s bridesmaids were so sweet and Dani, Rox, and I were so thrilled to be invited along for the ride. We all genuinely got along and had a blast. Your vibe attracts your tribe and this tribe was a blast.
One of the cutest things was an MOH made masks of Sarah’s fiancé for us to use as a photo prop, so G went with us everywhere. I’d never seen that done before and it made for some hilarious photos, especially in the limo.
The only dark spot on the day was the way we were treated when we first arrived to Stone Tower. One of the girls organizing had emailed previously and asked if we needed a reservation. When we got to the entrance, they tried to turn us away for not having one. Email in hand, we explained that there were ladies with us who had flown in from other parts of the country and we were confused as we had been told it wouldn’t be a problem. Poor Sarah’s mom offered to leave if we had too many with us- we were not going to let that happen. And then I swear to you, verbatim, we were told, “we’re not saying you guys will be rowdy but…” and then Kevin, the jerk who tried to turn us away, got security to straighten out the issue, and we were eventually sat- on a patio nowhere near anyone else.
I’m sorry, but there was no reason for us to have been spoken to that way. When we were finally allowed to enter, we immediately dropped at least $200 on food and wine. It ended up being fine where we were seated, but it certainly felt like they were trying to keep us away from everyone else. We were not being rowdy when we arrived or whilst enjoying the vineyard- nor did we have anything “bachelorette” with us. Sarah wasn’t even wearing her Sash. It was embarrassing for us the way we were treated and I will not be going back there. I’ll give them this though- their wine and pizza was delicious.
Bluemont Vineyard was a lot more low-key. We grabbed a couple bottles and sat on the patio, enjoying the sunshine and the amazing fall day. There were a LOT of kids at Bluemont… and a lot of dogs, which we all loved. Nobody seemed to mind that we were a large group celebrating a bachelorette party. I’d like to go back to this one and do a legit tasting to try out all of their wines.
Honestly, the only time we were causing a raucous was in the limo, mostly because if you put 9 girls in a car it’s going to get loud. But minus our little snafu- which, to be honest, lasted less than 5 minutes from start to finish- we had the best day! And most importantly, Sarah did too! I made some new friends and survived my first all-day wine outing.
PS- my super comfy fall floral dress is from Amazon!
