Last Wednesday, Bubbles & Bloggers had one of our coolest meetups yet. We headed down to Ivy City to Republic Restoratives to enjoy our custom Fresh In The District cocktails, learn about how Fresh Wave works, snack on some delicious treats from Homeshed Kitchens, and leave with the cutest Scout gift bags. While I’d certainly heard of Scout, I didn’t know much about the other brands an d it’s always fun discovering new places and products with my favorite ladies.

Republic Restoratives is woman-founded, “community funded and community driven,” making it the perfect place for a gathering of community minded women to get together. The space itself is really awesome- Dani and I were brainstorming future events while we were still there. Our Fresh In The District was delicious and made just for us! I’m not sure if they’re keeping it around as a permanent item on their menu, but I would recommend if you can get down there to try it!

Fresh Wave is a new-to-me company, but many of the ladies at the event had heard of them and love their products. I’m huge on candles, fragrance, and freshness in my home, but the difference between some of the scents that I use and Fresh Wave is that their products are all-natural. No harsh chemicals. No heavy perfumes. No toxic ingredients. While it was brought up that this is great for pets and kids, let’s be real- natural is better for everyone! I’m currently using the odor removing gel that came in my gift bag and I love the scent!

Thank you to Republic Restoratives, Fresh Wave, Homeshed Kitchens, and Scout for a wonderful night out, and of course to Dani for planning!

We like to have themes for our meetups which makes for awesome pictures in semi-coordinating outfits, and our theme was green. Weirdly enough, I don’t actually own a whole lot of green, so I went for greenery instead with my tropical dress from Old Navy. I love love love the pattern on the dress but the dang thing shrank in the wash, making it a cute tunic.

TGIF

Happy beginning of a long weekend. Goodbye to this week and hello to drinks with one of my bridesmaids tonight, a cathartic apartment clean tomorrow morning, and then back to Laytonsville again because I don’t like to be at the apartment by myself and I just need my parents right now. In the meantime, I’m so so so lucky to have such an amazing girl gang that has let me rant and rage this week. I miss my honey and ooooooh what I time it is for him to be away. womp womp

Patriotic Wreath

Yes, it’s a long weekend. But I hope you all recognize why we’re celebrating Memorial Day- to honor the fallen that lost their lives fighting for this country. This post been pinned to my twitter all week, but Lindsay said it best. I’ve mentioned this before, but my fiance is National Guard and just seeing him in his uniform makes me tear up. Although he’s not technically deployed he’s giving up time with his loved ones for a training right now. He, and all of our men and women of service, deserve our respect.

I also feel compelled to address the horrible attack in Manchester this week. The silver lining is seeing people do good in the face of tragedy. Ariana Grande is reportedly paying for the victims’ funerals. There are a few ways to help in your own way, but as citizens of the United States, the best way is to donate monetarily to help the families of victims.

This week on The CaroLøve

Stella & Dot has some great events going on currently:

Have you seen the Summer Optical Collection at Warby Parker? Try it yourself  with the Home Try On program!

Enjoy $40 off orders $200+ with coupon code HFS40 at SheIn.com! Ends 5/29

I’ll be honest- didn’t have a great week. Kind of weird stuff going on that I can’t really get into. So I did by those shoes I will pretend are flats all summer.

Don’t let the rain get ya down- we have enough going on right now for that. Have a great weekend with your friends and family, or productive downtime on your own!

So March was… in like… something and out like probably the same thing (a mess) because the freaking weather has taken us all on such an emotional roller coaster. But April showers bring May flowers and now I’m giggling to myself because next April, Kendall and I will be celebrating our wedding at The Mayflower and how perfect is that? April is a special time of year for my family. My mom’s birthday is April 9th, as is my parents’ anniversary (celebrating 29 years this year WHATUP!) and my Uncle Jay and Aunt Jeanie happened to pick the same date for their own wedding 6 years later! Lots of love, lots to celebrate in April!

It’s also usually the first month of the year to really feel like spring! As much as I love getting into the winter cozies, I’m over it. Bring on the sunshine. And in that vein, I bring you my April wish list.

the carolove april wish list

  1. I’m kind of digging this Cupshe Melodic Blues One-piece Swimsuit. Has anyone ordered from Cupshe before? Thoughts?
  2. Last year, Target had this amazing straw tote with pompoms that I really wanted… until I got to the store and it was big enough I could have put a couple toddlers or a weeks worth of clothes in it. The Rainbow Pom Pom Tote from t+j is a much better size AND I love the colors!
  3. I found the Women’s Wildfox More Glitter Manchester Tee last Friday when I was super sad that our CFO was retiring. “More glitter, less bitter” is the best sad day mantra.
  4. I’m still determined to try rainbow highlighter, and at under $10, I won’t mind this little purchase once Lent is over!
  5. This is one of the cutest collabs I’ve seen! If you can’t pick just one color, the Clinique Crayola(TM) Chubby Lip Crayon Box is just the thing for you!
  6. I love my nude studded heels, but they’ve been about run into the ground. Yay for
Betseyville Naveah Gladiator Sandals and their under $50 price point!
  7. Not going to lie, part of the appeal of the Shashi Caroline Necklace is the name. But I also obviously love the style!
  8. I keep going back to these Rachelle Tassel Chandeliers from Stella & Dot.
  9. Kendall + I kind of want to have a vintage picnic themed engagement photo shoot, but for a real picnic, the ban.do Watermelon Super Chill Cooler Bag is the cutest!
  10. Yes, I’m obsessed with going to Mission for margs with my girls. The Margaritas With My Senoritas Crewneck from Tees And Tank You seems appropriate.
  11. We’ve burned through almost all of the Christmas clearance candles I stockpiled, but it’s time for fresher scents anyway! Bring on the Mimosa Kiki&Me Tumbler Candle!
  12. Stripes. Always stripes. But it doesn’t hurt to have an unexpected detail like this Women’s J.crew Ruffle Sleeve Top.
  13. Candace and I never had jellies because my mom was smart and knew they were painful, sweaty, and not great for your feet. I got the adult version for a music festival a few years ago, and quickly learned that for myself. But the Kate Spade New York Fanley T-Strap Sandal seem like a great, slightly more grown up, option.
  14. Mint is a tricky color for me, but once I have a tan, here I come for this Pintucked Swing Blouse.

So, first of all I’m sorry for being a bad blogger and kind of letting The CaroLøve fall by the wayside last week and into this week. Besides a post engagement euphoria, I’ve also come down with a nasty sinus infection situation. I spent a lot of last week struggling to breathe, pinning wedding everything, and, frankly, caring about little else than Kendall and starting our future together. I’ll probably be posting a lot of my wedding faves and likely I’ll have a bit of a harder time posting 5+ times a week. I ask you to bear with me and give me as much feedback as you want!

Second of all- I’m sorry I’m so late on my NYFW post! Now that I’ve gotten a taste of the experience, I’d love to go back! I was in the city for less than 24 hours, but getting to experience my first NYFW show was such an amazing experience, and I’m truly honored that I was even invited.

After a morning blowout at Drybar Midtown East with with an amazing stylist named Fernando, I hopped in a car and made my way to the Yuna Yang show at Gotham Comedy Club. There were only a few girls already there, and we quickly started chatting as we waited outside the club to get in. I mentioned how I’d brought along my camera to the city to have my friend take outfit pics for me before she left for brunch and I left for Drybar, but somehow lost my SD card. Juliette was kind enough to step in an do a quick shoot for me! As she said in her email when she sent the picture over- Not too bad for a three minute impromptu shoot in the rain!

Another lovely blogger I met in line was Lexie. Meeting her was like being a little kid and meeting your favorite princess at Disney World. This woman is a princess in real life and so incredibly sweet. I’ve been following her on Instagram for quit so I kind of fangirled when she was standing right in front of me.

Since it was my first taste of NYFW, I was trying so hard to keep an open mind about how things would run, but there is a bit of chaos that I found overwhelming. Half of our tickets had bar codes on them and half didn’t- which confused the team running the show as much as it did us. Juliette and I did not have bar codes so we were sent off to a side line and when we got into the show we weren’t sure if we would be able to see anything. Thank goodness she knew what she was doing, because despite having the “wrong” kind of ticket, we ended up with seats right where the models walked off the stage. I’m so glad we had the view we did because the clothes were incredible- such an amazing display of texture and color. Despite being totally exquisite, the styles were also accessible. I would wear anything in the collection! I’m not even going to pretend I have any idea what I’m talking about, but I simply loved the collection! I’ve said this before, I never studied fashion per say, but I know what I like and I love playing with style. My favorite piece- the mint green fur coat!

I’m still not sure why I was invited to the Yuna Yang show, and I’m still so honored that I was. I don’t think I would last the whole New York Fashion Week, realistically, but in Fall I would love to go up for at least a few more days. I found Dana’s post about why she skipped it altogether this spring really on point, and I can totally understand where she’s coming from, even as a total newbie. While I could sit and appreciate a gorgeous collection from a designer I hadn’t heard of before, that I want to get to know better, I looked to my left and saw a girl having her photog take a picture of her next to the (at this point) empty stage. Why? To prove you were there? Can’t you just enjoy being in the space you were in with the incredible display you just witnessed? It just made my skin crawl a little. But I’m still so grateful that I was included and I do hope to be able to experience more NYFW in the future.

Have you ever been to NYFW? What do you love and what could you do without?

Let’s talk about something that might make people a little uncomfortable: money. That’s right- dolla dolla billz y’all. Now, we should all know that it’s impolite to ask people about their income, but it seems like bloggers are asked about this all the time! Like, I had some rando at a bus stop ask me how much my blog made. RUDE. But to be honest, I am actually 100% all about the hustle.

I’m not going to lie, my little blog has become a side job and I actually enjoy earning money doing something that I love. It’s been a really fun adventure and if I didn’t love doing it, I wouldn’t try as hard as I do to make carve out this pretty little space for myself. Through affiliate links I’m actually chipping away at bills + hopefully save up for the extra expenses I know I’ll have coming up for the wedding. I think that everyone should have something for themselves outside of their normal day job, and if it happens to give me a little extra income, all the better!

I’m not saying that everyone should be a blogger, but if you are looking to earn that extra income- have you ever thought of being a Stella & Dot stylist? I’m not myself, because I truly think between the blog, my day job at the firm, and my little job helping out at CorePower that I would be spreading myself a littttle too thin. However, I think it’s a fantastic program. Just some of the perks include:

Income & Free Products– Get 25% – 35% commissions on sales, shop at a discount up to 50% off, plus get tons of free products and perks. I personally adore my Stella & Dot jewelry and get compliments on every piece I wear! My favorite piece right now is the Arc Pendant Necklace– I wore it out on New Year’s Eve!

Be Your Own Boss- You choose the hours, you call the shots. How much you work is up to you. No minimum requirements. The women I know who sell Stella & Dot? Teachers. Some of the busiest people I know. A lot of my Christmas presents came from my mom’s team members who sell Stella & Dot.

Training & Support– Extra income is just the beginning. Join a community of strong and supportive women. I have this with my blogging community, but I feel like it’s so important to have a community of strong women who have your back.

If you don’t want to make the jump to become a Stella & Dot stylist, you may want to consider hosting a Stella & Dot party. Have you ever been to a Stella & Dot party (or trunk show)? That’s how I’ve gotten almost all of my Stella & Dot jewelry. The best thing about them is that the hostess can design the night however she wants around the three main elements:

FRIENDS: Picture a ready-made girls night in. Order in or make you favorite snacks, put on some of your favorite girly tunes, and hang out with your girl friends while trying on jewelry.

FASHION: Try it on in person with your very own Stylist. If you’re a hostess, you bring in a stylist to sell the jewelry. You don’t have to do anything but host and shop!

PERKS: Earn $250+ in free accessories and shop at half off. I meaaaaan this in itself would be a great reason to host a party! I could go absolutely crazy with $25o in Stella & Dot accessories!

I think my favorite thing about Stella & Dot pieces is that they range from on trend,  like the Iris Tassel Earrings, to classic staples, like the Signature Engravable Disc Necklace. Let me know if you’ve ever been to a Stella & Dot party, been a stylist, or a host!
