My family has belonged to Montgomery Country Club in Laytonsville since I was in kindergarten. Most summers growing up, I was there 12 hours a day, 7 days a week unless the lifeguards (who sometimes doubled as babysitters) had to wrangle us out of the pool for thunder/ lightning. Many times, we were there later eating crab dip for dinner with our swim team buddies and playing red rover just far enough off the golf course that we wouldn’t get in trouble. Most of my summer memories comes from that club, not even mentioning the parties I went to/ threw throughout the years (I’ve been to three wedding showers recently, including the one I hosted), and the amazing support they gave us when my sister died.
Luckily, my mom still loves it just as much and is still a member. While I now can mostly only spend weekends poolside, sipping sweet tea vodka and lemonade instead of Powerade now, I will never turn down a day in the sun with a good book any chance I can get.
If you saw my Instagram post from this past weekend, you saw my adorable new pool bag from Target. The pool opens THIS SATURDAY, y’all! And while I’m set for new suites for the summer thanks to Cupshe, everything else in pool bag can be picked up in one shopping trip to the magical land of Target.
It does not, however, look like they carry my favorite summer read. I highly suggest your poolside reading includes Palisades Park: A Novel by
