Like many of you, I am still processing the results of the election. I toyed with the idea of not posting for the rest of the week but, honestly, what good would that do anyone? What’s been done is done, it’s time to move forward, and this post from henceforth is going to be all positive.

I remember when I first started blogging, events were terrifying for me. Unless I showed up with a pal or saw someone I knew right away, I would freeze. I’m not proud of this but I’ve hid in bathrooms, ducked out early feeling the onset of tears, and left events feeling like I’m not as pretty, well-dressed, or as popular a blogger as some of the other fabulous women in DC. Middle school Caroline still hears *NAME REDACTED* telling me in 7th grade that I would grow up to be “most likely to need a hairbrush.” That all changed late last winter when Dani reached out to me after following me on Instagram to join a meetup that has turned into this amazing squad. I finally had the confidence and kick I needed to re-brand, I was no longer afraid to go to events, and I’ve made some amazing friends.

Two of my new(ish) pals threw an amazing party last week for their own relaunch at Malmaison. Chelsea + Nicole of The District Darlings really know how to throw a party. One of the coolest parts of the night was combining groups of girls that I know pretty well IRL with girls I’d only ever “met” on Instagram. I also got the chance to introduce Sarah to Sahra and I was thrilled. Just imagine walking into a room full of your best gal pals, all dressed in totally different styles, all driven to succeed and make connections. No fear, no competition, just a girls night celebrating each other and Chelsea + Nicole. I’m a personal fan of theirs because I love the sister connection, and I was just tickled when I suggested a collab post with Nicole and she said, “YEA! Also you’re style is kind of edgy like ours so it would totally fit!”

It was just a really all-around amazing evening. I am so honored to be included with this group of amazing young women. Congrats to The District Darlings on their relaunch! I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them!
