While it’s been kind of a rough year for me personally, professionally I’m in one of the best spots I’ve ever been. After over two years with my company, I feel confident and comfortable in my roll and with the folks I work with. I oversaw two huge upgrades to our office space (one in technology and one in our kitchen), I remain the only assistant in North America who does client bills, and I physically set up workstations for all of our new staff.
At our Christmas party this past weekend, two of the directors made speeches thanking everyone for a year well done, especially with major staff changes. It meant a lot that my boss, her counterpart in Canada, and I received special shout outs for keeping the offices running behind the scenes.
My office is called a branch office-we don’t have IT or HR so those type of issues fall on my supervisor and I, along with day to day office managerial stuff. One any given day, I could be preparing documents for clients or ordering groceries. It’s all about pivoting. It can sometimes become extremely stressful but I’m lucky my boss and I work so well with each other. On top of that, when I expressed interest in a position that may open up in New York, not only did my boss agree that it would be a good fit, but she’s already started advocating for me to HR should the position become available. I feel so supported and appreciated.
This year, for Christmas, my boss gave me a certificate to Amazon. She treated me so I can treat myself. I’m so glad I have the next few days to relax, recharge, and come back fabulous ready to tackle 2020. Here’s what I’m peeking at. What do you think I should spend my gift certificate on?
