I had been mulling over this post for a little bit, but  I received an email from Brandless and it prompted me to just go ahead and do the dang thing:
On behalf of our whole team, I want to apologize that your recent Brandless box may have had delivery issues. Whether this is your first, second, or tenth time ordering from Brandless, this is not the experience we want you to have.
Growing a business can be exciting, but it can also be tricky at times. Our community has grown to 48 states and the demand for our awesome products has been nothing short of astounding. So much so that we moved our distribution centers to scale with the growing demand. During that transition, we had some hiccups. Don’t you just hate when that happens? The good news is that our new warehouses are back to capacity, and we’re once again shipping you your stuff to arrive within 3-5 business days. All that said, we’d like a chance to make things right since we value you so much as a customer.
They then gave me a coupon for $9 off my next order! I’ve been ordering a lot from Brandless and I want to share with you what I’ve loved, and what’s been meh. Even the meh stuff has good qualities though! As their email stated, they’re booming and I would love to get my readers on board who are looking to simplify their home shopping. The products are good for me, good for the environment, and good for the world. You can check out the details here.
I should let you know that this post is in no way sponsored by Brandless, but I can earn cash back if you decide to sign up and use my referral link. You get $6 for your first order over $39 and I get $6 too! Win for everyone. I’m actually a B.More member:
- Save more: You get FREE SHIPPING on all your Brandless orders.
- Get more: With over 250 better-for-you products, now it’s easier than ever to stock your whole home with goodness.
- Help more: We donated 10 meals* when you joined B.More. And we’ll give 2 more every time you check out.
I’ve saved $40 in “brand tax” since I started ordering household items from Brandless. It’s been cool to see that add up! That means that my B.More membership with free shipping has more than paid for itself in just five months.
With that, let’s start with the misses first and get the negativity out of the way:
Bathroom Essentials Bundle
Fluoride Free Toothpaste: Toothpaste is SO subjective but I just really don’t like this. The flavor is good but it doesn’t seem like there’s any foaming action. It’s usable, and we’re using it, I just wouldn’t ever get it again. If you don’t feel like you need those extra scrubby bubbles on your teeth, you would probably like it!
Tree Free Bath Tissue: The cool thing about this product is that it’s made from Sugarcane & Bamboo Grass, a Tree Free Paper Product, Septic Safe & Biodegradable, and made from 100% Rapidly Renewable Resources. The downfall is that it’s just not that soft. I asked Kendall his opinion and his exact words were, and he said “hate it. feels like half-ply.”
Ditto all of that for the Tree Free Facial Tissues – 2 Pack. Not very soft or strong, but at least in the summer we don’t need tissues all that much so we may order those again. Another note about these products from a friend of mine who is extremely environmentally conscientious, these products are wrapped in plastic. Perhaps a paper wrapping would be more Earth-friendly, although I’m not sure what sanitary-type restrictions are placed on bathroom items like that.
Organic Garlic Salt: Now, there’s not really anything wrong with this product per say, but I did notice that the garlic salt grinder from Trader Joe’s… you get more product for a dollar less. So I’ll use up what I have but go back to the grinder after.
Digestive & Immune Biotic:Â Same as above. Nothing wrong with the product I can just get more for my money elsewhere. I thought this was a little funny because the multi-vitamin and green tea capsule from Brandless come with a higher count.
At Home Spa Gift Set
There have been so many more HITS (I’ve ordered over 40 items) that I won’t even list them all, just some faves!
Grapefruit Facial Cleanser: I LOVE the smell of grapefruit but most grapefruit facial products are too harsh on my skin. Not this stuff! It’s gentle enough for daily use with a really delicate scent.
Green Tea & Aloe Body Wash: Speaking of sensitive skin, Kendall has it too! I actually have not used this body wash yet as I’m working my way through the yummy soaps from All That Yazz, but Kendall has! He started using it instead of his typical manly wash after a particularly bad sunburn. He says it smells like Sprite? I’m going to have to use it now!
Green Tea & Aloe Body Lotion: This lotion is super creamy, but not sticky. It absorbs really well and, again, the scent is really delicate. It is much preferred over straight aloe (which tends to be really sticky, and freezing!) in our household of easily obtained sunburns.
Daily Facial Moisturizer: This was my first and is probably my favorite Brandless product. It’s just so easy! My skin is amazing right now and I do credit this moisturizer for some of that. I actually add a couple of drops of frankincense and lemon oil to mine for a little pick-me-up AND because frankincense oil seems to be the best at keeping away my cystic acne.  Because this moisturizer is unscented, I’ve been thinking about making my own daytime and nighttime versions- maybe one with lavender before bed? Until then, I’m actually using their Night Cream, which is much thicker.
Snacks!: I’ve loved all of their snacks. Kendall is so-so on them, but I think they’re great! My personal fave are the Everything Pretzel Thins. As far as other edible products go, I’m a fan of their Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray (as a substitute for Pam, or similar products) and their Fair Trade Medium Roast Coffee Pods, but I’m trying to cut down on waste so I’m using ground coffee in my reusable k-cup.
BONUS HIT!
The customer service is impeccable and they’re so easy to contact. Yes, I got the email with the coupon, but before that, they sent out an email saying that my order would be delayed so I’d know ahead of time. You can also TEXT them your concerns and suggestions. I literally texted them that I didn’t like the toothpaste and got a response!
Have you shopped with Brandless? What have you loved? Don’t forget that if you want to try it out, to use my referral link to save us both some money. 😉
