If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ll know that I absolutely love Reptar, but I was thinking about it and, honestly, my childhood was full of dinosaurs.
Besides the beloved Rugrats character, I grew up with Barney (although I preferred Baby Bop and her big bow). Jurassic Park came out when I was 4; I remember watching it on VHS on the tiny tv in my mom’s sitting room while she sorted laundry. The show Dinosaurs was one of my favorites (I’m the baby, gotta love me!). I even played Dino from The Flintstones in a skit while I was at sleep away dance camp. My doctor’s office didn’t give out lollypops, they gave out little plastic dinosaurs in primary colors. Ask my mom about the song that was supposed to teach us how to spell “tyrannosaurus rex”.
That’s a lot of dinosaurs. Was it just me or was this an entire 90s kid experience I just realized now?
I’m a sucker for all things novelty, kitsch, and nostalgia, so is it any wonder that dinosaur patterns totally catch my eye?
