I’ve told this story before, but a few years ago I was at one of my favorite gift shops and a woman was selling oils. She had me do a sniff test to see which scent resonated with me and one in particular actually gave me goose bumps- in a good way! It was the oil that supposedly aided in healing my root chakra. When the root chakra is imbalanced, one of the symptoms is “excessive feeling of insecurity, living on survival mode constantly.”
At the time, I was single, living at home, making barely above minimum wage. Of course all of my survival needs were being taken care of by my wonderful and loving parents, but I was floundering. I had no idea where I was going in life and I was terrified that about the feeling of “stuck.” Anyway, I bought the oil, put a little bit behind my ears each night before sleep. I don’t know exactly what it did, but it certainly helped with my anxiety before bedtime.

Flash forward like… seven years later. I’m happily married, just got a promotion, and I feel so settled. I still get the occasional panic attack, but they are few and far between now and usually I can pinpoint what causes them. Kendall’s also great at handling them and knows how to help me. But life’s pressures exist, as they always will.
Sarah invited me to a party last Friday at The Glow Club–A MEDITATION STUDIO FOR PEOPLE WHO DON’T MEDITATE, BUT SHOULD. I absolutely love that concept. I’m not 100% sure how mediation works. I listen to guided mediations on YouTube when I’m feeling anxious sometimes, but I’ve never really learned how to do it. They have different types of classes, but I’m the most interested in Inner Glow:
From a relentless schedule, to your natural ambition. From overeating, to underestimating yourself. With all of the emotional strain you encounter, your vitality is taking a real hit. This class will help you to navigate your emotions by unpacking and decoding them, to recognize the energy behind certain feelings and to learn how to harness their power to cultivate your inner spark.
“Cultivate your inner spark.” I love that.
Because, yes, I am in a way healthier place than I was back then, but I do occasionally loose my grounding. And when, at the party, Sarah and I started sniffing Aroma Poetry candles, guess which one I immediately loved? The root chakra candle.
