My cousin worked for Bobbi Brown when I was in high school. He was the first person to put two ideas into my head. First of all, I needed to be moisturizing (and using an SPF), even though my skin was oily. I was essentially frying it with Stridex and forcing it to produce more oil. Second of all, he introduced the idea to me that makeup should be enhacing your features, not covering them up. To be fair, I was barely learning how to wear makeup at this time, but I was very into heavy eyeliner and cinnamon-flavored shimmer powder and just generally a hot mess when it came to my entire face. I always felt so pretty after Tom did my makeup, and it was always very subtle.

While I feel like I’ve gotten better at doing my makeup, I do like to keep my routine pretty easy, especially on a regular workday, so I decided to try three products from their range. As a fan of all things pink, that’s how I chose the shades, but they all came out pretty neutral for me!

SHIMMER FACE OIL

I was going to write this post when I finished all three products, but this stuff is lasting me for. ev. er. and I use it the same way I used the shimmer oil – all over on top of my color corrector. While I have no complaints about how the actual product works, I don’t love the application. I prefer the pump bottle of the shimmer oil. Since I use the products in the exact same way, I think I would go back to the oil before the balm. The balm is also a little tackier on the skin. I think it’s a preference thing, but I do love how both look on my face and I think the balm is helping me combat winter dryness and dullness.

While I really did like this product and have no complaints, I think I actually prefer e.l.f.’s Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow (in Flirty Birdy, specifially). The price point is way lower and I definately get more sparkle bang for my buck. Keep in mind though, these products are all what I use for my everyday makeup and I work in a position where I feel like I can wear glitter to work. If you’re looking for something subtly shimmery, the sparkle wash is definately more suitable.
