When Candace and I first started at St. John’s, there were three things that were extremely popular. Perhaps it was just a sign of the times, the times being the mid/late 90s, but everyone had Beanie Babies, American Girl Dolls, and a ton of keychains on their backpacks.
I never quite grew out of the keychain thang. My college boyfriend would actually warn me every time we took my car anywhere that the heavy collection I had would weigh down my keys and mess up my engine. Apparently, there is some truth to that. While I’ve paired down the keychains I have with my car keys to only a Smathers & Branson Leopard Print Key Fob, I still love a good keychain. I actually got a special Taylor Swift inspired motel style keychain for my apartment keys. Since I certainly don’t use my car every time I go out, it seemed to make the most sense to keep those separated… easier to stick just my apartment key in my purse for a night out, but the size is big enough I don’t lose them. Much. Just one time when it camouflaged onto my rose gold suitcase when I was moving in.
