When you envision yourself walking down the aisle in a crisp and delicate white dress your heart starts to flutter. The day will soon arrive when you marry your dream man and you want your wedding to come together perfectly; from the food to the decor, everything needs to go off without a hitch.
Planning your perfect wedding can seem like a super stressful task, especially when there are so many people involved. The most important thing to remember is that it is your day; you and your husband to be need to be happy with the decisions, over anybody else. If you are worrying about the finer details of your wedding day, then check out these smart and seamless ideas to help you throughout the planning process.
Fabulous Food
It’s no lie that most wedding guests which judge how good the overall day was based on the food, so you don’t want to skimp on the nibbles. We were so lucky that The Mayflower has excellent dining options. I got to design our salad, we upgraded the beef option, and my mom got her chocolate covered strawberries during the coffee service. I’m only sad because I didn’t get to enjoy many of the nibbles at cocktail hour!
Perfect Presents
You and your partner aren’t the only people who deserve presents on your wedding day. Think about all the people close to you who have put in a lot of hard work to make your day as special as it is. Remember your bridesmaids, groomsmen and parents are all people who helped to make your wedding day run seamlessly. With my bridesmaids, I was collecting little gifts throughout the year. For the men, we gave them each a map flask and funky dress socks for the big day. My dad got a special engraved watch (actually he got everything on this fun little checklist), and my mom a diamond bracelet. I had so much fun hunting down the perfect things for the people who made our wedding day so special!
Demure Decor
I’ve said this so many times but my favorite part of weddings (including my own) is the love of the tiny details. Our band name tables really stood out to me as something fun, different, and reflective of us. We had a ton of sparkly candles everywhere, reflecting perfectly with the little pink diamonds. Our flowers were springy, unfussy, and definitely not a hindrance in guests talking to one another. I honestly lost my breath when we walked into the room where our reception was held- I wish that feeling for all brides.
Marvelous Music
Wedding music was one of the few places where I had to make concesions. The church was really pretty strict on what we could and couldn’t do- which I was not really expecting. I had thought for years about having my high school choir sing some of my favorite love songs at the wedding ceremony. We couldn’t do this, but I did get to pick out beautiful music with the music director at St. John’s, including some of my favorite hymns, instrumentals used at Royal Weddings, and Pachelbel’s cannon.
We more than made up for this lack of choice with our reception music. We essentially handpicked every. single. song. Our dj, Mark, actually had to cut me off from adding more music. We danced the night away with our guests and it couldn’t have been better. This is saying a lot as music is a big part of mine and Kendall’s relationship.
