One of my favorite words is darling, and if there was one word to describe this Old Navy dress, darling would be it. The fit is perfect and the pattern is so sweet. I didn’t realize until my haul came in from my sale purchases, but there are actually little bunnies hidden among the flowers and leaves in the pattern.
You know what drives me nuts though? Fast fashion as a concept. This dress, for example, I’ve had for less than a month and it’s already sold out in most sizes- so if you like it and they still have it in your size, grab it quick. I’m a medium petite. I ordered something in the wrong size for someone for Christmas and went to exchange it for size and it’s already gone. I find this from almost everywhere I shop!
I’m not saying that the clothes are necessarily cheap quality. Cottony basics are cottony basics no matter where they’re from. My mom has said so many times that if Target had been around when Candace and I were little that that’s what we would have worn, rather than, say, Children’s Place, which has essentially the same stuff at double the price. I just hate that the cycle of clothing goes so fast. It’s not just inexpensive retail either- J. Crew, Ann Taylor, etc. I find the same thing! Fast fashion is actually made to make you feel out of trend quickly, according to this article from Huffington Post, and while I don’t wear a whole lot from stores known to be fast fashion (think Forever 21), I have been trying to set my eyes on more quality and timeless styles.
Mini-rambling-rant aside, this is definitely my new favorite dress. My firm has a Thanksgiving luncheon and I always try to look extra cute on days where I see the whole firm- I’m usually tucked away in my cubical, and I’ll probably wear it for the big Thanksgiving gathering at my parents’ house.
