Spring is in full swing in The District. Between the April showers, the beginning of tourist season, the allergies, and the generally unpredictable yo-yo weather that is so typical of this area (year-round), it’s sometimes easy to forget how lovely this time of year can really be. This past weekend, in my own neighborhood and despite the rain, I happened upon one of the prettiest trees I’ve ever seen. The flowers + the lush greenery in my neighborhood always make me kind of pause and appreciate how gorgeous this city really is. It’s sometimes hard to believe it really is a city. I work downtown, but even there the squares and parks become like little their own little green oasis.
Basically, what I’m trying to say is we should all take a moment to appreciate the green outdoors. In planning our engagement/ save the date pictures, Kendall and I have discussed a little bit of a vintage picnic theme. There’s no reason though that we shouldn’t just take one of our free days (ha. few and far between.) and go on a real picnic of our own for a date. My dad has been trying to get us to go to Wagshal’s, a deli near us, since before we moved in, and I think it would be so fun to pick up a couple sandwiches, chips, and drinks and head out to enjoy a sunny Saturday. Now all we need is a free day (a girl can dream).
Have you picnicked in DC? Where’s your favorite spot?
