Although my style has changed significantly since I worked at Pier 1, I still look to them for home decor inspiration. I order their candles on a regular basis, I know I can count on them for great Christmas incidentals, and while I haven’t worked there in six years, they still “surprise and delight” me as a customer. (“Surprise and delight” was one of our key phrases at team meetings.)
I used to love unboxing new items. Since I can’t do that anymore, I find my home style inspo online window shopping. The drawback being, if you’re tactile like I am, that it is really nice to shop in shore to touch and smell everything- especially their amazing candle collection.
One tip I learned working there is that there’s always a sale on and you rarely need to pay full price. (You might just have to wait for what you want to go on sale.)
Kendall and I have started looking for a bigger place- we found one we really like, actually, closer to his work, two extra bedrooms, and less than what we’re paying now! My commute will be a little longer, but we’re totally outgrowing our one bedroom. This apartment, and many that we’ve seen in VA, have a balcony, and it would be great to have a little space outside to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or a glass of wine at night. I’m having fun looking at outdoor pieces and fun accents.

Ohh I REALLY enjoy that lamp!
And it’s on clearance! I love how simple it is. I actually read recently that designers are v over statement lamps. Who knew!
