I have a confession- with my parents living not even an hour outside of DC, I essentially have double (at least) the storage of most of my city friends. This is usually wonderful as my off-season clothes can be out of sight, out of mind, out of coveted closet space in my apartment. Before I moved, I took most of my cold-weather clothes that were still in my Georgetown apartment to Laytonsville. There is just one issue with this. It makes navigating days where it’s 45 in the morning and 75 in the afternoon a little tricky. I have very minimal fall stuff with me right now, so I feel like my outfits for work have been a little mushy. One day last week I wore and Old Navy sundress with Uggs because whatever.
The fall clothes I do have here are mostly from my Chowderfest haul when I went down the shore a few weeks ago. My friend Tiffany and I are both obsessed with Island Gypsy, and this year we shopped smarter. After a lovely dinner of ALL OF THE APPS at Bistro 14, we headed over to Island Gypsy to scout our picks and try things on the night before their end of season sale. This at least eliminated the need to try anything on the next day in the huge crowds, but we still had to wait in line for a good half hour to pay. Worth it. As per usual, Tiff had to reign me in. No Caroline, you don’t need that t shirt in 5 colors, pick two! We did both leave with the grey duster, and actually both wore it to my housewarming party!
