Let me start this off by assuring you that I know that “moosen” is not a word. However, I have used it as the plural of moose since 9th grade, when John Hess playfully made fun of my favorite Abercrombie tank top with a repeating moose pattern. The mid to late 2000s was the HEIGHT of fashion, people.
The term “modern moosen” was coined when I was in Wisconsin. I was telling my friend Ally that I like rustic style decor to a point, but I also appreciate sleek lines a la mid-century modern. She and her now-husband, Jon, took me to Hinterland Brewing. Now, I’m really not usually one for beer but I love a good brewery and I can always find something I like. I think I actually had a cider but what I really remember is that the inside of this place was the perfect combination of sleek, industrial, and rustic. Modern moosen. Obviously.
When I daydream about my future, I often do so in interior design. Maybe it’s ancestral as my grandmother was an interior decorator. Maybe it’s from watching my mom develop such a cozy space in the home my parents have lived in for over 30 years. Maybe it comes from working at Pier One. Likely, it’s a combination. But I love creating these boards with my design ideas.
