Don’t leave getting permission to travel until the last minute. It might say online that you can register 72 hours before you fly but that doesn’t take into account a problem or a delay. The last thing you want is to get stuck at customs instead of enjoying the hot summer sun of your tropical vacation. Particularly, if that delay then leads to something as unpleasant as a strip search. It can happen! So, it’s easier and best to arrange for a permit from the Official ESTA site for the country you’re traveling to well in advance.
