Recently, I have no only been super careful about where I put my skin, but I’ve become careful about where I’m putting my money as well. After finding out that an old faithful cosmetic brand was under and umbrella of companies that donate to political causes that I am against, I wanted to be sure my money went where my mouth goes.
My friend Rachel and I kind of started out on this journey together, and over the summer we both jumped at Tarte’s deal to grab a whole makeup bag worth of products for $63-that’s about 70% off! Maureen Kelly, founder of Tarte, has partnered with Sustainable Amazon Partnership, which encouraged forest stewardship, created new jobs, boosted living conditions, and offered educational opportunities. In 2017, Tarte announced the company’s support of an anti-cyberbullying campaign with the Tyler Clementi Foundation.Tarte asked consumers to take a self-portrait and upload it to Instagram with a hashtag #kissandmakeup. For each self-portrait uploaded, a donation was made to the foundation and one poster received a lifetime supply of Tarte Cosmetics.
Aside from philanthropic endeavors, Tarte products are always formulated without:
- Parabens
- Mineral Oil
- Phthalates
- Triclosan
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
- Gluten
After using, and loving, the products I got, I decided to participate in the same 70% off deal again yesterday. Although I’m not wearing much makeup nowadays, my sensitive skin and maskne appreciate quality products, and saving on what would normally be a splurge (for me) and stockpiling it for when I’m wearing makeup more regularly is the way to go.
So what did I get?
sugar rush™ skin treat tinted moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20||smooth operator ™ Amazonian clay tinted pressed finishing powder||busy gal BROWS tinted brow gel||limited-edition pride lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara||tarteist ™ quick dry matte lip paint in obsessed (mauve berry)||knockout daily exfoliating cleanser||BONUS! travel-size shape tape™ concealer
I got all this, plus a special edition makeup bag for $73! Everything is full-sized, except for the shape tape, which was an extra $10, because I’m looking for something for under-eye and the occasional nasty, discolored cyst. I can’t wait to try it!
The stand-outs for me are the skin treat (buildable coverage but always feels light on my skin) and the brow gel (loved it already but they just introduced a new color for dirty-blondes!)
Are you are Tarte fan? I’d love to know about your faves!
